195. Mott the Hoople references

jazzgasms (Mr. Que), Wednesday, 11 November 2009 19:48 (fourteen years ago) link

I love krautrock djs who don't beatmatch

And I like DJs with good record collections, too, and don't give a shit if they can beatmatch or DJ well. I like music nerds.

Mr. Que totally making this thread.

Was always this way. Ten years ago it would just be sold at a slimmer profit margin.

Mr. Que, I will never say your name in my head as Mr. Queue.

192. the fact that 1 our of 4 people who are in their 20s/30s and live in a metropolitan area is a "DJ". Add to that the fact that these self-proclaimed DJs often play music that can't be beatmatched, so they are basically just crossfading new age, krautrock, or whatever the latest bargain bin music fad is) in front of an audience of 20 people and walking around claiming to all their friends that they are a DJ.

10000x worse if the "DJ" happens to be a celebrity of some kind

xp - as opposed to people that get paid to crossfade top 40 pop songs, alt rock, and whatever else gets played on the radio? Those people are called DJ's, aren't they?

Plus I take pictures of all kinds of mundane shit on my phone. I've embraced it. A couple of days ago I took pictures of a couple of chairs by the side of the road. Just chairs. And I can remember what they look like, too, so I don't even need a picture.

You mean in 1985? The CDs were $25? Or the records? And that's not ten years ago. I guess I should clarify by saying that I'm talking about records on labels that I tended to buy from ten years ago (Matador, T&G, Merge, &c.).

194. coffee and coffee culture?????????????????

Coffee? Is this like those MarkCL & Mr. Que parody entries?

Sarahel, I still say your screen name as Sara Hell, but like it's one word. I'm not a photoblogger.

xxxp - that does not bother me in the slightest.

i wish i had the dumb cable that allows me to transfer my mundane pictures from my phone to my computer. It's almost decaying billboard season, and I think I want to document it.

Fox Force Five Punchline (sexyDancer), Wednesday, 11 November 2009 20:05 (fourteen years ago) link

Yeah, you mms them from your phone to another phone, or to email.

bamcquern, Wednesday, 11 November 2009 20:05 (fourteen years ago) link

xpost But that doesn't suggest a 2009 trend. Saying that records have gone up in price in the last few years because of higher demand or whatever would be a trend.

bamcquern, Wednesday, 11 November 2009 20:06 (fourteen years ago) link

Coffee is crazy popular now. And it's fucking nasty shit and everyone is all jacked up for the morning and then crashes at noon and turn into crabby mofos. Cafes/coffee culture is totally egregious and a blight on my generation. I'm only being slightly hyperbolic. The fact that someone is "omg wtf???????????????????? how can you hate coffee" proves my point.

xxxxxxpost But it's not 2009. And cafe culture in the US isn't new, either. At least one could argue that it's a nice change from meeting and talking with people in bars.
