i just want to say--im ok with "stan" being appropriated as just meaning "humongous fan"--but the word in my understanding is a little more subtle, implying not just a certain kind of fanaticism but also a willingness to follow the object of your standom down roads no sane person would go, and, in particular, to defend the stan-ee against all attacks, even, and especially, when those attacks are legitimate
