This is making me laugh and I'm not sure why.

Maybe the idea of someone ejaculating those words after actually realizing that they're on a message board. It reminds me of that Victor Pelevin book about the minotaur myth where they're all in a chatroom, except in that book they're pretty aware they're in a chatroom right from the start.

I went to this family-owned place all the time when I was a kid. it had heart! and to this day I'm disappointed at any mini golf course that isn't all twee and rustic and handmade.

I met a 20 year old girl who said she wasn't on Facebook and I think she thought it was a virtue, but it wasn't annoying or very braggy. People mention it in conversation. I guess it seems a more pertinent comment than the I-don't-have-a-tv comment, because people have grown up with tv usually and know what it is, but Facebook seems more of a trend, like, "I haven't tried it yet, this is why." Some people blurt things out. This was a very talkative girl.

I deleted my FB account. Not so much because I want to appear above it, more that I simply don't have time anymore and was only using it for Lex/Scrabble. I do miss it, but I won't go back.

Has anyone mentioned chick lit? Hate the term.

until a few months ago, if Facebook came up in conversation, I might have mentioned that I didn't have an account because a few years ago I went and killed all my social networking accounts due to privacy concerns. I finally buckled and signed up for it. I was wrong about it... the whole "wall" function, and the ability to read it on my cell phone, makes it something new entirely. Something that sucks.

I don't think "not needing" technology has anything to do with the vast majority of people who aren't into Facebook.

i deleted FB because it was making me hate a lot of mostly nice folks who were acting like fucktards and saying smug awful things. it was like 15% fun max.

"monetize" only annoys me when coming from people who think they will. Pointing out things that cannot be monetized is the new black, imo.

i deleted most of my FB apps and "fan" statuses. i was sick of the spam and also had privacy concerns. but facebook still keeps finding ways to make itself worse.

Facebook itself is fairly safe, as near as I can tell. Dig into your settings, set your defaults to nothing, go "black" as they say on FB (meaning not even your name can be clicked), and you're pretty secure. FB apps are another story entirely. I don't use any anymore. No quizzes, no games, none of that shit. It's not the data mining that bugs me, it's the lack of control I have over it. Fuck all of that until they fix it.

Yeah, for me that pirate/ninja shit was played out years ago. This year it's zombie kitsch I am sick of. I'll probably still play Left 4 Dead 2 and rent Zombieland when it comes out, but I am so god damn sick of zombies.

People who hug everyone they meet and are weird if you are reluctant about hugging them. I hug family members, but I don't see why everyone fucking hugs everyone. What happen to a good handshake?
