hum. it's a bit to far to be fun.
aren't there other big releases coming ?

AlXTC from Paris, Monday, 18 January 2010 22:14 (fourteen years ago) link

Big list here:
http://www.metacritic.com/music/upcomingreleases.shtml

The only one that sort-of catches my eye that is going to be released soon is Goldfrapp (release scheduled for 23rd March). But there's no track listing yet. And they're not really in the same league as Bono in the "desperately needing a kick in the pants" department. But if people still want to have at U2, then "Songs of Ascent" is due for mid 2010 release. Recorded at the same time as "No Line..." just the title says that it's going to be full of ripe Bono-isms.

aah, too bad white stripes is only a live... interpol maybe ?
there will certainly be great titles to work with !

AlXTC from Paris, Tuesday, 19 January 2010 11:46 (fourteen years ago) link

interpol would be fun, everyone should just do their best ian crutis impression over a variety of backing tracks (ian crutis does super fruity swag rap; ian crutis reads poetry over steve reich's "clapping music"; ian crutis does broadway!)

thank u 4 being a fiend (m bison), Tuesday, 19 January 2010 15:55 (fourteen years ago) link

ahah. sounds good ! but that would make it just a comedy project, wouldn't it ? (which somehow we managed to avoid with "no ilx").
I've just looked at their titles... there's some gold to expect !

AlXTC from Paris, Tuesday, 19 January 2010 16:20 (fourteen years ago) link

2 votes in favor of interpolling this bitch

thank u 4 being a fiend (m bison), Tuesday, 19 January 2010 16:37 (fourteen years ago) link

Poll a shortlist of Interpol, Goldfrapp, and U2?

an executive by day and a wild man by night (snoball), Tuesday, 19 January 2010 16:44 (fourteen years ago) link

Goldfrapp and Interpol are both waaaaaaaay to small-time to qualify for this, aren't they?

we should have done this with stadium arcadium, and dan should have done 'hump de bump'

definitely not goldfrapp

are there any big hip hop albums coming out this year?

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 19 January 2010 16:51 (fourteen years ago) link

There'll be a sudden Radiohead one, I reckons.

Mark G, Tuesday, 19 January 2010 16:56 (fourteen years ago) link

i would say interpol is big enough but only for the fact that many h-words will be looking 4 leakz and we can give them hi quality counterfeit goods

thank u 4 being a fiend (m bison), Tuesday, 19 January 2010 17:00 (fourteen years ago) link

Interpol!

mage pit laceration (gbx), Tuesday, 19 January 2010 17:01 (fourteen years ago) link

interpol is ok but it's only going to have like 10-12 tracks, right? whereas a hip hop album would have INSPIRATIONAL song titles and like twice as many tracks

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 19 January 2010 17:01 (fourteen years ago) link

^^^ we really need something with more than a dozen tracks so that more people can get involved.

an executive by day and a wild man by night (snoball), Tuesday, 19 January 2010 17:05 (fourteen years ago) link

lets do both then

If you want an album with a bazillion tracks, Busta Rhymes is releasing an album next year...

thank u 4 being a fiend (m bison), Tuesday, 19 January 2010 17:54 (fourteen years ago) link

Does anyone have links to tracklists for "Body" and Interpol?

might seem normal (snoball), Tuesday, 19 January 2010 18:08 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah, jamie foxx has potential for great titles...
that said, the idea of having two ilx teams "competing" is kinda fun...

AlXTC from Paris, Tuesday, 19 January 2010 18:10 (fourteen years ago) link

n/a may have had some fun at my expense yesterday, but coincidentally, what's just turned out to be his No Line On The Horizon track came on my iPod Shuffle recently and I'd forgotten what it was...thought I maybe had some A+ rad Brian Eno thing, and was completely taken with it...so, dude, in the spirit of reconciliation, you made some good music

j0rdslovesomedude (acoleuthic), Wednesday, 31 March 2010 17:19 (fourteen years ago) link

thanks brah

my track for the Wire comp is kind of in the same style, though I don't think I'm quite as excited about it :/

I was just joshing you yesterday

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 31 March 2010 17:50 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah I know - and even if you weren't it was pretty damn funny - am gonna have to release a song by that name at some point

thing is when listening to it I was all 'wha...who uses the horn presets on keyboards' at first, then I was 'hang on, but this is pretty hypnotic', then I was 'hey the fact that someone has used the horn preset and then offset it with groovy syncopated bass is awesome' and finally by the synth solo I was convinced someone had hit on something really valuable

so yeah, if the Wire track manages a build-up half as epic as this it'll have been worth it tbh

n/a your Lowdown cover is so fucking good

double shyamalan (MaresNest), Saturday, 8 May 2010 22:15 (thirteen years ago) link

hey thanks! I was pretty happy with the music; it's a little more "boring" (ie longer and fewer parts) than the songs I normally do but I feel like it's kind of a grower. I'm still not crazy about the vocals; I did the singing first and it didn't sound how I wanted it (my voice isn't low or weighty enough) so then I tried the robot vocals but it seemed kind of cheap so then I "compromised" and left both in when I probably should have just committed to one or the other.

I've probably linked this somewhere before but all the home recording stuff I do is at http://scarequotes.net.

The band said they had written a new song for the occasion.
"I'm heartbroken," he said. "We really wanted to be there to do something really special."
