It's not my favorite Hysteria single, but it'll do.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Tuesday, 13 June 2006 01:13 (seventeen years ago) link

each verse is T. Rex

This is pretty much what I wanted to say.

billstevejim (billstevejim), Tuesday, 13 June 2006 02:58 (seventeen years ago) link

I'll take Animal or Hysteria, but what Alfred said.

Clark/Collen-era Leppard = Classic
Wearing your own band t-shirts in the video = Not Classic

Edward Bax (EdBax), Tuesday, 13 June 2006 19:47 (seventeen years ago) link

No no no, that was totally classic! Not even Spinal Tap did that, did they?

7. Women

"Animal" so far down, Good Dr.? I'm sad.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 00:55 (seventeen years ago) link

The intro to "Animal" is the shit.

Here's a tougher one for you all, maybe -- name your favorite NON-single from Hysteria. ("Run Riot" by a hair over "Gods of War," but it's VERRRRRY close.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 01:01 (seventeen years ago) link

"Run Riot" for me too.

The Good Dr. Bill (The Good Dr. Bill), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 01:03 (seventeen years ago) link

"Gods of War" for me, but "Run Riot" is close behind.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 01:06 (seventeen years ago) link

I like "Run Riot" because it is of course The Second Great Fake Insurrection Rock Song of the Holy UK Trilogy (along with Sweet's "Teenage Rampage" and the Prodigy's "Firestarter"). I like "Gods of War" because it is frickin' majestic at the start in a way that Black Sabbath would appreciate without actually sounding like them at all, and, of course, That Ending.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 01:09 (seventeen years ago) link

the intro to "Excitable"

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 01:14 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, the 13 year-old Johnny Fever was pretty into that intro.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 01:19 (seventeen years ago) link

"Run Riot" is pretty much the best song on Hysteria

Matthew OMalley (Matt-O), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 03:06 (seventeen years ago) link

"Tear It Down" is the best NON-single from Hysteria.

And yeah, I mean the original b-side, not the later re-recording.

Edward Bax (EdBax), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 11:19 (seventeen years ago) link

each verse is T. Rex, lead-in to chorus plus most of chorus itself is Sweet, the title part is Gary Glitter.

The song also sounds like Cheap Trick - no?

morris pavilion (samjeff), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 19:44 (seventeen years ago) link

I'd tend to say more Cheap Trick knew all THOSE influences too. ("Elo Kiddies" as a good example.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 20:27 (seventeen years ago) link

ten years pass...

Yeah, but are you brexin' it?
(I'm a-brexin' it!)
Ooh, really brexin' it?
(Yes, I'm a-brexin' it!)

joe elliott, Friday, 24 June 2016 18:32 (seven years ago) link

...'cause the brexit's yet to come?

oh how life's relish stains my cummerbund (how's life), Friday, 24 June 2016 19:03 (seven years ago) link
