I love the original "Liquid Air" too, but the remix is even better. The bassline and percussion on it sounds so awesome!

Pretty interesting cover version, this one.

The thing I love about Burger is that whatever sort of music he does, there's always a soft and warm quality to his sound. Even when it's acid house, like the Air Liquide remix above, it doesn't sound hard at all.

Autobianchi's one of his alias' right? 'Stay' and All Around (Everybody's Kissing) are strict bangers

Man. the Triola tunes I listened on Youtube sounded pretty awesome, I guess I should get the Triola album next?
Has anyone heard this mix? It looks pretty interesting, I guess he's really a synth pop/new wave dude at heart.

GET IT NOW!!!! Possibly my favourite mix of the 00s that wasn't by Michael Mayer

Still loving The Modernist's "The Collectors Series Pt 1" - can't believe I've not commented on it before. Possibly my favourite mix aside from Mayer's Fabric one.

New compilation coming out in March: Velvet Desert Music Vol. 1.Includes a new Burger/Ink track!
Just think…from Sergio Leone to David Lynch, from Elvis in his deepest moments to Johnny Cash somewhere between amphetamine backlash and American Songs, from Hollywood Babylon to Hotel California, from Mulholland Drive to Paris, Texas. Served with a pinch of Tago Mago and Pink Floyd at Pompeii. Then you know exactly what Velvet Desert Music is about… – JÖRG BURGER

This looks interesting. I've been on a bit of a Cologne/ proto Kompakt thing lately: Air Liquide, Global Electronic Network, Khan & Walker, UMO, Reinhard Voigt/Pentax, Khan/4E. Waiting for a copy of German Electronic Foundation (Burger with A.L. and Khan) to drop. i think 90's Burger is more where I am than 00's Burger right now but Leichtes Hören Teil 1 is pretty sweet.

The German Electronic Foundation stuff is fun, mostly hard-hitting freaky acid techno IIRC. I agree that '90s Burger is more interesting than 2000s Burger, though the synth-pop mix from 2006 I mentioned upthread is really cool, definitely worth checking out if you don't have it already.

Though TBH I think pretty much all of that Köln posse were more interesting in the '90s, when they were doing all this weird-ass acid and ambient and electro experimentation, instead of the more mannered styles where most of them moved later on.

Thanks. I guess not for this thread as it's not Burger specifically but does anyone know why their 90s tracks have a lot of NYC references? Time Square, Empire State Building, Orange Clouds Over Battery Park.? Was there a Cologne / NY collaboration happening in the mid nineties?

I don't really know, but some of their early '90s material was released in the US by Sm:)e, a sublabel of Profile Records, which was set in NYC. And didn't Khan also move there at some point? Or at least he started releasing his solo material on American labels like Caipirinha and Matador.

There was also some kind of connection to DJ Soul Slinger, but I think he's from the west coast?
