You can stay here if you like.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 16 September 2004 17:25 (nineteen years ago) link

thank you.

cºzen (Cozen), Thursday, 16 September 2004 17:27 (nineteen years ago) link

What, in the world, are you talking about?

Ally C (Ally C), Thursday, 16 September 2004 17:30 (nineteen years ago) link

sleeping!

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 16 September 2004 17:31 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm not sure that all that's going on here.

Ally C (Ally C), Thursday, 16 September 2004 17:35 (nineteen years ago) link

that's

Ally C (Ally C), Thursday, 16 September 2004 17:36 (nineteen years ago) link

You're so suspicious. Are you coming?

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 16 September 2004 17:36 (nineteen years ago) link

it's jist the way he's staunin'.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 16 September 2004 19:40 (nineteen years ago) link

This is sheer madness

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 20 September 2004 11:21 (nineteen years ago) link

really?

RJG (RJG), Monday, 20 September 2004 11:26 (nineteen years ago) link

Yes

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 20 September 2004 11:31 (nineteen years ago) link

have you been to the gardens?

I think cook still hasn't even though I tried to take him.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 20 September 2004 11:32 (nineteen years ago) link

I went to the opening of the gardens. It was a lovely sunny day and we had strawberry tarts and wine and listened to Big Band Music. I predict that 24th September will not have similar weather.

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 20 September 2004 11:38 (nineteen years ago) link

'urban creativity' = 'demolishing maternity provision'

scotstvo (scotstvo), Monday, 20 September 2004 11:41 (nineteen years ago) link

It upsets me too much to go.

Actually, I did walk past it in the dark recently. It looked OK.

Why 'Finding Nemo'?

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 20 September 2004 11:43 (nineteen years ago) link

replacing?

crosspost

RJG (RJG), Monday, 20 September 2004 11:43 (nineteen years ago) link

It'll be nicer once the ivy has grown across the stepped bits. Last time I saw it, the planting was a bit gappy. I like the water features and the nappy pin.

I think it's OK to demolish a hospital if it's too old to cope with modern medicine, as long as there's somewhere else that's convenient and has the capacity for the patients to go to. I don't get sentimental, but then I wasn't born there.

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 20 September 2004 11:55 (nineteen years ago) link

There's a lovely plaque commemorating all the babies that were born there, and also the ones that died there.

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 20 September 2004 11:56 (nineteen years ago) link

I'd like to say that I love pictures of Ally's behind when he's dancing but I'm not going to cos it has connotations. (He’s so perky and bendy!)

Lara (Lara), Monday, 20 September 2004 11:58 (nineteen years ago) link

Yo yo yo whassup Glasgow!

Kev and I are going for a proper 'date' on saturday night, we haven't done this since we moved in together last year. Thinking about the Shish Mahal - I think it's Park Street? Anyone tried it?

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Monday, 20 September 2004 14:52 (nineteen years ago) link

Yes. It was very late at night and we were the only people there. I think we annoyed the waiters cos they wanted to go home. Food was nice, though. I think.

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 20 September 2004 15:25 (nineteen years ago) link

I think Lara is drunk, already.

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 20 September 2004 15:30 (nineteen years ago) link

Oi, you don't need sauce to enjoy your bum!

Lara (Lara), Monday, 20 September 2004 16:35 (nineteen years ago) link

It could render it even tastier, though.

Mooro (Mooro), Monday, 20 September 2004 18:08 (nineteen years ago) link

Thanks Ally, we may hit a tavern afterwards, any recommendations? It has been some time since I've done the West End and I'm completely out of touch with what's going on.

Looking for somewhere we can hear ourselves drink, not too quiet though, and not old manny. Last time I was out I spent most of the night in Whistlers Mother eating peanuts...

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 08:19 (nineteen years ago) link

a face like an in-swinger.

cºzen (Cozen), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 15:25 (nineteen years ago) link

Just up the street (Woodlands Road) is the Uisge Beatha. It's not bad.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 16:02 (nineteen years ago) link

It has a tendency to get a bit stowed out on a Saturday night though, doesn't it?

Even further up Woodlands Road is the Halt, which is also not bad. Saying that, it probably isn't there any more, as the West End seems to have changed ridiculously from when I used to live there.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 16:04 (nineteen years ago) link

It is there. Perhaps Lloyd Cole is also there. It is possibly more old-manny though. The Uisge Beatha is a weird pub - I have been there on weekends where it's empty, and ones where you can't move.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 16:28 (nineteen years ago) link

which way is up?

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 19:27 (nineteen years ago) link

I was in The Halt on Saturday. It's very much still there.

scotstvo (scotstvo), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 20:49 (nineteen years ago) link

Thanks, I've been in Uisge Beatha before, for a meeting of the, er, Glasgow West Indian All Nations Club.

Tha Halt? I'll give it a go if I can find it.

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 09:27 (nineteen years ago) link

cºzen (Cozen), Saturday, 25 September 2004 08:35 (nineteen years ago) link

I will be, this afternoon.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 25 September 2004 08:42 (nineteen years ago) link

me too.

cºzen (Cozen), Saturday, 25 September 2004 08:44 (nineteen years ago) link

I might (might) have a spare season book for today's match. I'm supposed to be taking my little brother but he's not here. I guess I should be leaving here about, say, 12.30 - 1pm. are thr any other ilxer celtic fans who don't already have season books? madchen?

cºzen (Cozen), Saturday, 25 September 2004 09:14 (nineteen years ago) link

gah sorry false alarm he's just walked through the door innit.

cºzen (Cozen), Saturday, 25 September 2004 09:17 (nineteen years ago) link

ouch.

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 25 September 2004 09:42 (nineteen years ago) link

Madchen is not strictly a Celtic fan.

Last night, I tried Glasgow a little whilst sober, and had fun. I love to watch Catherine dance. She is so magically young, like Emily Lloyd.

Ally C (Ally C), Saturday, 25 September 2004 15:49 (nineteen years ago) link

Emily Lloyd is in the forthcoming Peter Sellers film, to which I am looking forward.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Saturday, 25 September 2004 16:59 (nineteen years ago) link

"sober"
"Celtic fan"

Madchen (Madchen), Saturday, 25 September 2004 18:07 (nineteen years ago) link

Hey, Glasgow people, do you want to come for a pizza with me next Saturday night?

Madchen (Madchen), Saturday, 25 September 2004 18:12 (nineteen years ago) link

cheesy

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 25 September 2004 18:22 (nineteen years ago) link

Ally has inspected the menu and there are other things for cheeze haterz.

Madchen (Madchen), Saturday, 25 September 2004 18:25 (nineteen years ago) link

oh, yeah, he doesn't like cheese.

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 25 September 2004 18:26 (nineteen years ago) link

Did you see Rowetta?

Madchen (Madchen), Saturday, 25 September 2004 18:27 (nineteen years ago) link

I guess not.

who or what is rowetta?

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 25 September 2004 18:29 (nineteen years ago) link

it's okay.

we have figured it out.

yes, we did see her.

she was bonkers.

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 25 September 2004 18:34 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm rooting for her.

Madchen (Madchen), Saturday, 25 September 2004 18:38 (nineteen years ago) link
