kinda cool seeing reverb pedals pop up in general. i haven't really played electric guitar for a few years, but there weren't many options for guitar players outside of rack mount gear until recently, no?

yair the tc pedal looks kickass

that does look sweet

is there a difference in sound between the midiverb and the nanoverb. my impression is the latter is just a smaller pared down version of the former

i always thought the same, though i have never used a nanoverb

my midiverb needs to get used more :(

thats why i'm wary of picking up a rack effect. do u have a whole rackmount setup?

nanoverb is contemporaneous to the midiverb 4 and has exactly the same effect algorithms and the same 18 bit dacs. i think the only difference is the lack of led screen and less programs in the nanoverb. they can be had for so little now it might be worth buying one just to try it out

i think the earlier midiverbs have a lower bit rate conversion and supposedly have a more lo-fi sound

you could also get a little midi foot switch for live use

do u have a whole rackmount setup?

no, the only rack unit in my "chain" is a roland re-3

chillwave of mutilation (electricsound), Saturday, 8 May 2010 23:34 (thirteen years ago) link

nanoverb is nice cause it's just like a 5x5x1 box that sits nicely next to the rest of your pedals. and in terms of functional limitations, i never felt like i needed more parameters to control its sound or whatever oh and yeah, i just use a footswitch, works like a charm.

that expression pedal behavior is very interesting.

I wonder if it will linearly taper between any two states of the knobs. I would imagine so.

did anyone else get suckered in by the strymon big sky? i've found it very difficult to fall in love with

doctrine the house (electricsound), Thursday, 5 June 2014 05:17 (nine years ago) link

I tried out the Big Sky and never really connected with it. I like Strymon's reverb in the Flint far more.

Suspect the simpler controls on the Flint make it faster to get something you want.

Elvis Telecom, Thursday, 5 June 2014 05:25 (nine years ago) link

Strymon's writing is a bit much

Sufjenga Cat Giffin (Sufjan Grafton), Thursday, 5 June 2014 05:30 (nine years ago) link

I appreciate just how far they're willing to go to make DSP-in-a-pedal a special thing rather than endless "it's all analog man" manifestos. I love the Flint and could be persuaded to deficit spend on a Lex, but past those two I'm surprised at how "meh" I find them. In the end I suppose it's just taste. When Mesa Boogie amps first became a thing, I couldn't get over how much they made everything sound like Boston (the band, not the Pixies). Bleak era, but a good time to buy perfectly good used silverface Deluxe Reverbs. A steal back then!
