68. "number one" (black strobe instrumental) - playgroup

68. "number one" (black strobe instrumental) - playgroup

is this sad??

tricky (disco stu), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 20:51 (nineteen years ago) link

I love it too! in the get physical club harpune mix, the herbert boese one, he mixes that into the Carl Craig remix of "Tides"!

hector (hector), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 21:10 (nineteen years ago) link

am i ever gonna find out the name of this?

I think this is from the Skynet album (Tresor). Not sure which track, don't have the cd with me at the moment, but probably: Skyway or Sunterrainae.

Omar (Omar), Friday, 15 October 2004 06:55 (nineteen years ago) link

20. Rhythm is Rhythm - Icon

-- Omar (dubaandemach...), October 13th, 2004.

microlovr

but yeah ok!

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 27 February 2005 05:26 (nineteen years ago) link

Ronan mentioned sadness as a common feeling when listening to techno/dance recently somewhere i think?

kind of a complete reversal of the old idea of electronic music = unemotional.

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Sunday, 27 February 2005 05:36 (nineteen years ago) link

or was it alba?

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Sunday, 27 February 2005 05:50 (nineteen years ago) link

alex smoke - i never want to see you again (ada remix)

jermaine (jnoble), Sunday, 6 August 2006 09:52 (seventeen years ago) link

autechre - vletrmx21 (if that counts any as techno)

latebloomer (latebloomer), Sunday, 6 August 2006 10:29 (seventeen years ago) link

I can't believe that 5 Orbital songs were named without a single reference to 'Out There Somewhere?', the single most tearjerking techno song I have personally ever heard. The last 4:50 alone is quite simply heartbreaking, beautiful, humbling and timeless.

Underworld's 'Juanita/Kiteless/To Dream Of Love' would also be up there.

Louis Jagger (Haberdager), Sunday, 6 August 2006 11:07 (seventeen years ago) link

...alongside The Chemical Brothers' 'Asleep From Day' *ducks behind sofa*

Louis Jagger (Haberdager), Sunday, 6 August 2006 11:30 (seventeen years ago) link

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 3 February 2007 00:01 (seventeen years ago) link

yes! to "soul in a bottle" love that tune, but it seems too optimistic and thuggish to be a tearjerker??

the winner is obv "law of grace" by SOUL CAPSULE

rio natsume (rio natsume), Saturday, 3 February 2007 00:56 (seventeen years ago) link

actually "solitary flight" owns this thread

rio natsume (rio natsume), Saturday, 3 February 2007 01:34 (seventeen years ago) link

I am amazed nobody has mentioned "Tears," by Frankie Knuckles and Satoshi Tomie or however you spell it.

xhuxk (xhuck), Saturday, 3 February 2007 02:13 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm amazed no-one has mentioned Phantom/Ghost - Perfect Lovers, Unperfect Love Mix by Tobias Thomas & Superpitcher; but maybe that's cause it's really Mahler doing all the tearjerking there.

ledge (ledge), Saturday, 3 February 2007 13:52 (seventeen years ago) link

this is my least favorite thread ever. hated it

vahid (vahid), Sunday, 4 February 2007 00:20 (seventeen years ago) link

'Out There Somewhere?', the single most tearjerking techno song I have personally ever heard

amended

to scour or to pop? (Haberdager), Sunday, 4 February 2007 01:46 (seventeen years ago) link

Vahid the problem is most deep house/boompty/west coast etc. etc. just isn't that obviously sad.

Maybe we need a thread called Hipjerking Techno

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Sunday, 4 February 2007 08:03 (seventeen years ago) link

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Sunday, 4 February 2007 08:03 (seventeen years ago) link
