"All Mine" is from 'Curiosity.' "Forever" is previously unreleased, "live somewhere/summer 81."

Rickey Wright (Rrrickey), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 00:47 (nineteen years ago) link

i see. Curiosity version says paris 84. guess someone can report tomorrow

ronny longjohns (ronny longjohns), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 03:17 (nineteen years ago) link

ok, seems these babies are out in Europe after all. In a mere couple of hours, I shall be basking in the glow of them Carnage Visors!

Baaderonixxxorzh (Fabfunk), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 13:40 (nineteen years ago) link

i'm thinking about buying "faith" as it is my favourite cure album

Aerodynamic (Aerodynamic), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 14:30 (nineteen years ago) link

As well you should.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 14:31 (nineteen years ago) link

i think i'll first get Porn and Faith and wait a bit for 17S (the extras don't seem as crucial)

Baaderonixxxorzh (Fabfunk), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 14:52 (nineteen years ago) link

xpost

No, it actually says "somewhere."

Rickey Wright (Rrrickey), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 14:58 (nineteen years ago) link

this is great news. i was so in love with the glove man.

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 15:00 (nineteen years ago) link

I am getting all three. I CARE NOT.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 15:01 (nineteen years ago) link

These reissues are great indeed. "Carnage Visors" is fucking great.. as is the Cult Hero stuff.

donut debonair (donut), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 16:32 (nineteen years ago) link

The Cult Hero stuff is the shit!

I DIG YOU
YOU DIG ME
WE DIG EACH OTHER
THAT'S GROOVY, BABY! OH YEAH!

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 16:32 (nineteen years ago) link

(and I'm getting all three too, because I like big colorful phat packaging... the "evaluation" copies I have -- which are just double-CD jewel cases with no color aside from the front -- will probably go back to the originator, if he wants them.)

donut debonair (donut), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 16:34 (nineteen years ago) link

I am completely fucking stoked about having "Carnage Visors" on an official CD release. Mark my words, I will be making sweet sweet love to the tune of that lovely lovely guitar before the week is out.

The Ghost of TMI (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 16:37 (nineteen years ago) link

iewww...

Baaderonixxxorzh (Fabfunk), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 16:42 (nineteen years ago) link

He is an honest and passionate man, our Mr. Dan.

I have to wait a few hours here before I can go to the Best Buy. Can I survive? NYURGH. (I am killing time with that Mick Mercer double CD Gothic Rock thing on Cleopatra/Jungle while I do. Ah, Theatre of Hate.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 16:43 (nineteen years ago) link

HAND ME THE VISORS!

</PERV>

donut debonair (donut), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 16:43 (nineteen years ago) link

life is so unfair

*wail*

mzui (mzui), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 16:46 (nineteen years ago) link

THIS IS HERESY!!

Just finished reading the liner notes and I have to say they could have made more of an effort, e.g. a track by track rundown would have been appreciated.

Baaderonixxxorzh (Fabfunk), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 16:47 (nineteen years ago) link

But that was the case with 31B being reissued so I'm not expecting much. It's annoying but hell, so long as I get the music...

life is so unfair

3IB was released over there first, so this is payoff.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 16:48 (nineteen years ago) link

mzui - fret not, these ARE out in Europe. I just got them from a big retail chain.

Baaderonixxxorzh (Fabfunk), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 16:50 (nineteen years ago) link

THIS IS HERESY!!

Does my church make you vomit... into the vertiginous abyss?

donut debonair (donut), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 16:50 (nineteen years ago) link

*BA-dowwwwwwww (chik chik chikBOM chik chik chik chikBOM)*

Oooh baby, how you like them ascending scales? Uh.

The Ghost of SCHWERVE (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 16:52 (nineteen years ago) link

Ned, you are mean!

Baader, which chain? Fnac? I kinda wish we had Fnac in London, the one in Barcelona is fantastic. Plus it's great to say that word, FNAC.

mzui (mzui), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 16:52 (nineteen years ago) link

Does my church make you vomit... into the vertiginous abyss?

Does Valor even DO anything anymore? (Don't answer that.)

Ned, you are mean!

I apologize for my cruelty.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 16:53 (nineteen years ago) link

xpost Yeah, Fnac indeed!

Baaderonixxxorzh (Fabfunk), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 16:54 (nineteen years ago) link

How do the albums sound? 17 Seconds can be a deep listening experience, in a foggy way, Faith even more so.

mzui (mzui), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 16:55 (nineteen years ago) link

I apologize for my cruelty.

No you don't. You REVEL in it.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 16:55 (nineteen years ago) link

I can so picture Valor flipping burgers somewhere in the Valley

Baaderonixxxorzh (Fabfunk), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 16:55 (nineteen years ago) link

No you don't. You REVEL in it.

HOORAY.

I can so picture Valor flipping burgers somewhere in the Valley

Oh man, I wish.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 16:59 (nineteen years ago) link

I was listening to an early Cure gig the other day and a very young sounding Robert and Michael both enthusiastically introduce their cover of Foxy Lady by saying 'this is a song by Jimi Hendy!' as if Jimi Hendy was some balding bloke who ran the local music shop, It's really funny and charming.

They grew out of that kind of onstage banter pretty quickly, or maybe Dempsey took it with him?

mzui (mzui), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 17:02 (nineteen years ago) link

To the Associates? Now that I could see...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 17:07 (nineteen years ago) link

I was listening to the Associates Singles comp today, amazing to think that the cover of Boys Keep Swinging came out a few weeks after Bowie's version.

mzui (mzui), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 17:09 (nineteen years ago) link

Speaking of Associates: reissue of original Affectionate Punch due in August

Andy Kellman (ADK), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 17:14 (nineteen years ago) link

Good thing too!

I'm on a major Associates kick this week *and* I have an idea for a new book or story because of it.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 17:15 (nineteen years ago) link

just picked them up over my lunch hour and can't wait to dig in. very, very excited. as an FYI to the Amurrican ILMers, Best Buy is actually the cheapest brick and mortar store i've found them at - $22.99 a pop.

jonviachicago, Tuesday, 26 April 2005 17:40 (nineteen years ago) link

This is so great. I hadn't listened to Faith in such a long time... It sounds perfect. That long fade out at the end of All Cats are Grey is the most beautiful music I've heard, or nearly.
Funeral Party is still boring though...

Baaderonixxxorzh (Fabfunk), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 18:15 (nineteen years ago) link

$22.99 a pop.

ouch. oh well, got paid today!

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 18:18 (nineteen years ago) link

Woohoo. $19.99 each at Easy street ... just called 'em. on hold for me until the end of the day. EEEEEEE!

donut debonair (donut), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 18:21 (nineteen years ago) link

22.99, bah. *ponders* There are other stores, though, hmmm

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 18:29 (nineteen years ago) link

Skipped out at 2:15PM EST here in Boston USA and all three new reissues were already *sold out* at the nearby location of a fairly respectable and sizable local chain. I am somewhat amazed by that. But can't say I am disappointed to have to make yet another trip to the record store.

BlastsOfStatic (BlastsofStatic), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 18:37 (nineteen years ago) link

so i am going over what rare stuff i already have and think ill go with pornography but man i wish i had the $$ for all of them

kephm (kephm), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 18:46 (nineteen years ago) link

Ahh just finished listening to the Faith stuff. Nothing mind-blowing on the 2nd disc but it's interesting to see how the album could have taken a very different direction. The unreleased songs would have fitted nicely on say The Top. Charlotte Sometimes must have been an afterthought cuz it sounds as muffled as it did on Standing on the Beach. Part of the charm, I guess...

Baaderonixxxorzh (Fabfunk), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 19:27 (nineteen years ago) link

GROUSEGRIPE. Just a couple more hours...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 19:41 (nineteen years ago) link

OMGWTF - the demo of The Hanging Garden is the best thing ever

Baaderonixxxorzh (Fabfunk), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 20:10 (nineteen years ago) link

*dances about in frustration*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 20:10 (nineteen years ago) link

It has suddenly danwed on me that IdealCopy is shipping these to me and I won't get them for another week. BASTARDS.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 20:19 (nineteen years ago) link

See, there's a reason I'm just going to store, slight extra cost be damned.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 20:28 (nineteen years ago) link

all the reissues are $18.97 each plus free shipping at Deep Discount CD .

don weiner, Tuesday, 26 April 2005 20:36 (nineteen years ago) link

They a spinoff of DeepDiscount DVD? Or vice versa? Not bad, it has to be said (but what's tax I wonder).
