You must have super slow internet. My username is roughly half as ridiculous & ambiguous as most of the others, yours included . Don't really care if you get it or not.

Deerhunter have to be one of the only indie bands to still be worth a look I sware.
Really looking forward to the new album.
― jimitheexploder, Friday, 3 September 2010 19:42 (thirteen years ago) link
I basically agree with you; I increasingly have less time for most indie rock bands in my life.
― markers, Friday, 3 September 2010 19:44 (thirteen years ago) link
this song is a jam

Recently I've been playing the hell out of the Weird Era Cont. alternate album thing, especially Dot Gain and Vox Celeste, the latter of which Is sorta becoming one of my favorite songs evah
― Z S, Friday, 3 September 2010 20:04 (thirteen years ago) link
I should listen to that again -- I mostly just played Microcastle again & again (it's the perfect length, too), and didn't listen to WEC much.
― markers, Friday, 3 September 2010 20:32 (thirteen years ago) link
"operation" off 'weird era contd' is a great little jam too
― kamerad, Friday, 3 September 2010 21:59 (thirteen years ago) link
microcastle was great. anxious to hear the new disc. deerhunter has an epic sound -- and an edge -- that's too often missing in indie rock.

― SourPatchCorpse, Wednesday, 15 September 2010 17:55 (thirteen years ago) link
really? very excited for this disc -- maybe more than any disc this year.
YES, MORE EXCITED FOR THIS THAN FOR THE KATY PERRY DISC.
― Daniel, Esq., Wednesday, 15 September 2010 18:01 (thirteen years ago) link
Yeah man. If so inclined, check Magiska. It's something else, really.
― SourPatchCorpse, Wednesday, 15 September 2010 18:12 (thirteen years ago) link
Did I menetion how wonderful this is?
― SourPatchCorpse, Wednesday, 15 September 2010 20:40 (thirteen years ago) link
MENETION?!?!? Mention. Mention.
heard 'desire lines' and now i'm VERY excited for the album

I haven't heard this yet, but I've received a few different messages from friends today saying "omgomgomg deerhunter" and I don't normally get any texts whatsoever concerning the greatness of leaked albums, so I'm assuming it's really good!
― Z S, Wednesday, 15 September 2010 20:44 (thirteen years ago) link
listened to the Microcastle and Fluorescent Grey this morning, and was reminded of how good they are.
― Daniel, Esq., Wednesday, 15 September 2010 20:47 (thirteen years ago) link
both of those are excellent

i don't think there are any reviews yet, other than on message boards.
― Daniel, Esq., Wednesday, 15 September 2010 21:08 (thirteen years ago) link
where we've concluded it's the album of the year.
so now you don't even need to hear it, really.

haaaaa
― markers, Wednesday, 15 September 2010 21:13 (thirteen years ago) link
I'm gonna go ahead and initiate the backlash in response to the msgboard hype. If we can go ahead and have this back-and-forth and get things settled before it's actually released, that would be just great, super
― Z S, Wednesday, 15 September 2010 21:18 (thirteen years ago) link
wait, the whole album leaked?
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 15 September 2010 21:20 (thirteen years ago) link
just two-thirds
― markers, Wednesday, 15 September 2010 21:21 (thirteen years ago) link
Nah, the whole thing. It rules.
― SourPatchCorpse, Wednesday, 15 September 2010 21:22 (thirteen years ago) link
good idea. you start the backlash and, by the time the album comes out, we'll be ready for the counter-backlash. voila: album of the year.
― Daniel, Esq., Wednesday, 15 September 2010 21:23 (thirteen years ago) link
More like two turdz, man why does everyone always talk about this band everywhere I go on earth on indie music blogs I'm so sick of hearing it
― Z S, Wednesday, 15 September 2010 21:23 (thirteen years ago) link

i'm sick of this new album, anyway.
i hear "cee-lo green (the soul machine)" has a new song that's a surefire hit. i'll listen to that instead.
can't believe I have to wait thirteen days to hear this

he's writing abt jay reatard iirc
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 17 July 2013 02:19 (ten years ago) link
Okay--don't know anything about him beyond that he died. I initially interpreted the lyrics literally and had the weird idea that he was writing about Daniel Plainview from There Will Be Blood. Anyway, sobering song for anyone drifting through middle age.
― clemenza, Wednesday, 17 July 2013 02:26 (ten years ago) link
hah, i'll have to relisten with plainview in mind.
still love this record, monomania is not my thing at all but i can live with liking every other deerhunter album.
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 17 July 2013 02:31 (ten years ago) link
I've only heard the latest three Deerhunter albums and this is the only one I've really enjoyed. I should probably get round to hearing Cryptograms at some point.
― Kitchen Person, Wednesday, 17 July 2013 02:40 (ten years ago) link
I'm a late convert to this album but I really do love it. One of the few recent albums I can find that really scratches the same itch as the late-90s psyche classics like Dusk at Cubist Castle or The Soft Bulletin or Arnold's Hillside.
