What theatre are you watching?

Quite enjoyed The Philantropist, with Simon Bird, Charlotte Ritchie, Lily Cole and Matt Berry in a splendid purple suit. Funny in the first half, quite affecting in the second.

Tennant and Adrian Scarborough both v good in "Don Juan In Soho", but the play screeches to a grinding halt when Tennant delivers a monologue on how really Don Juan is just compulsively fucking because modern society is shit, because Trump and vlogs and selfies and...he doesn't quite come out and say "political correctness" but it's there in between the lines. I guess this place has molded me enough that this kind of monologue about Those Blasted Teenagers is an instant deal-breaker, and I'm also getting alergic to pronouncements about Trump on the London stage - yes he's terrible, everyone in the room is guaranteed to agree with you, time to all pat ourselves on the back. At least make it about Theresa May for fuck's sake. The audience lapped it up though,

is the youtube link for a play that was performed in Sheffield at the beginning of November.
It shows a family history covering about 60 years and happening between, Nigeria, London, some parts of the North Of England.
It is remarkable in taht it is all done with minimal props, scenery etc by a 3 woman cast playing something like 30 roles between them sometimes overlapping on the same role.
I think it is very well done so am hoping that other people will give it a chance.
