i loved s02e01 but not this latest one

Steve's sudden orgasm in the middle of his sentence while with the prostitute made me laugh harder than anything else in the episode, but I thought it was okay.

i remember the first few eps of s1 seeming lame and then i went back and thought they were genius so who knows

yeah im holding on to this coz i had the same experience, but basically this has been a 'massive let-down'

this week's ep was great!

Agree Garda, these naysayers are crazy. The scene at the dinner table, with Kenny describing his sexual adventures (while the million year old grandma cackles) is one of the best so far.

SourPatchCorpse, Monday, 11 October 2010 21:33 (thirteen years ago) link

i didn't like last week's but the first week and this week were good. the titties/ass discussion was hilarious too.

good again this week. the bit where he flipped the finger to the coach and went right, then left, then rose up from beneath the window made me laugh so hard.

I don't like to hear depressing shit about no-name dickheads. that shit's fucking up my vibe.

I felt bad for Stevie.

Str8 Drapin It (chrisv2010), Friday, 22 October 2010 17:53 (thirteen years ago) link

that whole first scene with Don Johnson killed. Slits at the end made me kind of sad tho.

the whole "have you ever rode a jet ski up a mountain" exchange was amazing.

this season is making me really think about how much i liked the supporting cast from season 1, ditching everybody except Stevie, who's for me perhaps the most unpleasant character on television right now, has pretty much killed whatever amount of enjoyment i got from this show.

schwantz, Monday, 25 October 2010 20:51 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah stevie isn't funny at all really, i hoped they'd only brought him back for one ep but no. this most recent ep was back to shitness really after two good ones...

I see what this is (Local Garda), Monday, 25 October 2010 20:52 (thirteen years ago) link

He doesn't seem like a good actor either. His timing is really weird.

schwantz, Monday, 25 October 2010 20:54 (thirteen years ago) link

the only times he's funny are as a foil for kenny to be selfish/awful/arrogant etc. stevie's own lines just aren't funny. the plot is also all over the place this season.

I see what this is (Local Garda), Monday, 25 October 2010 20:56 (thirteen years ago) link

lold at stevie's “If I found out I had a half black brother or a whole black brother I’d be very upset.”

i was thinking this yesterday. stevie is a really funny character but only when he appears in like, one scene an episode. there is really no other supporting cast this scene (at least that appears with any kind of consistency)

candid gamera (s1ocki), Saturday, 30 October 2010 15:31 (thirteen years ago) link

okay end of this last one was v effectively emotional..

The scene where stevie's trying to play the doofy little casio keyboard with headphones on while all the mexican cousins are watching tv and he turns around to look at them with that face..... I was laughing so hard it was painful. I'm more of a Stevie apologist than most of y'all it seems though, so

sleepingbag, Tuesday, 9 November 2010 07:18 (thirteen years ago) link

was there more cringe office humour in this season? it felt like it :-(

i haven't listened to it yet, but creative screenwriting's latest episode is with mcrbide and hill: http://creativescreenwritingmagazine.blogspot.com/2010/11/eastbound-down-q.html. these are usually pretty interesting interviews.

Haha, that killed me too.

I love Stevie btw.

Princess TamTam, Tuesday, 9 November 2010 22:37 (thirteen years ago) link

penultimate episode almost redeemed this mostly shitty season for me. i've begun to pretty much hate all of Jody Hill's clueless antiheroes, but i think i'd watch a show or movie with Adam Scott playing a slicker more articulate version thereof.

maria's head popping up from under the blanket with a tecate box atop it is among the better tv sight gags i ever did see

del griffith, Wednesday, 10 November 2010 04:44 (thirteen years ago) link

last two eps were really good. Feels like a bit of a "b-side" season overall but still one of the funniest things on TV.

Simon H., Wednesday, 10 November 2010 05:23 (thirteen years ago) link

maria really weirds me out

was that the last ep of this run?

I see what this is (Local Garda), Wednesday, 10 November 2010 13:18 (thirteen years ago) link

yes it was ronan. anybody have any idea what the gibberish was that came out of Kennys mouth when Tits Grande told him the baby was his.

Str8 Drapin It (chrisv2010), Wednesday, 10 November 2010 14:20 (thirteen years ago) link

i thought stevie got funnier in the last few eps. highlight of the season was probly kenny with don johnson though. jet ski vs. atv convo was awesome

another al3x, Wednesday, 10 November 2010 19:37 (thirteen years ago) link

i got feelings during this season that this might be a bad show for assholes and that i might be a bad person for liking it

on the other hand, let me know when you catch bin laden, i got some champagne on ice

A B C, Wednesday, 10 November 2010 19:43 (thirteen years ago) link

u may be onto a clever marketing campaign there

another al3x, Wednesday, 10 November 2010 19:52 (thirteen years ago) link

don johnson was painful imo, having the main character's parent(s) show up and be some older TV icon doing an impression of the main character is one of the laziest sitcom cliches.

deej otm (some dude), Wednesday, 10 November 2010 20:10 (thirteen years ago) link

no he was great

Gukbe, Wednesday, 10 November 2010 20:14 (thirteen years ago) link

if he was 2 1/2 men doing the exact same thing but copping a couple of charlie sheen's mannerisms nobody would call it "great" is all i'm saying

deej otm (some dude), Wednesday, 10 November 2010 20:37 (thirteen years ago) link

everyone runs to 2 1/2 men.

cliché or not, it worked for me. everybody reacts to Kenny with anger, befuddlement, or supportive acceptance of his character flaws. it was a nice change of pace to have him interact with someone similar to himself, and see how he reacts (sometimes one-upmanship, sometimes impressed by bullshit). I'm glad it only lasted for one episode, but it worked within the context of the show.
