No, seriously, about this time two years I was straight-up convinced that I had chronic fatigue syndrome -- I prob. even mentioned it somewhere on ILX -- and was already mentally preparing for my future as an invalid.

I think having your blood tested is the best way to go. That's what I usually do and recommend people. It doesn't cost that much. If it turns out to be nothing, great, if it turns out to be *bad*, they can help you out. Do you have shortness of breath? Feeling really weak? *Swimming* (uh, I don't know how to translate this)? Cause it might be iron deficiency.

I had chronic fatigue syndrome

I like to believe I have this, but deep down I know I'm just a lazy fat bitch. ;-) (Sorry to those who have this syndrome...)

should i go to the doctor? (i probably should, i know, but i only ask because i have no insurance so its not a decision i usually rush into.)

I would wait a couple more weeks, but if you continue to feel this way you should probably see a doctor. Are there any free clinics near where you live? It's probably nothing, but you should have your blood checked in case there might be a problem. A couple of years back I was feeling this way all the time -- no energy, fatigue, etc. and it turned out to be an illness. So it might be better to be safe than sorry.

Yeah, N. and N. are wise about the blood-checking.

Sometimes I feel like this and realize it's because I'm fighting off a cold or virus without actually succumbing to it and getting symptoms.

I never feel anything less than supremely powerful and deeply potent.

Yeah, and don't ask your parents either.
Totally. I once had to go to the doctor for a bump. I was scared enough as it was, but she kept going on and on about various cancer treatment options I might look into. It turned out it was an ingrown hair!

Yes, you are probably jumping on the couch as you post.

Blood test is a smart idea. How are your sinuses? I find that sinus problems can give me strange feelings of weak-limbedness, but I don't think it's ever localized to my upper body. Also, I don't remember it affecting my chest.

RS LaRue (RSLaRue), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 20:54 (eighteen years ago) link

(In other words: it sounds nothing like my sinus related symptoms, but that's the filter through which I view all possible maldies.)

I always feel tired and weak. Like Jaymc, I too thought I had CFS at one point. I have found, though, if I get 8 hours of sleep, exercise, try to eliminate high GI carbs and dairy, I feel right as rain.

Of course I don't do this as much as I should and as a result feel like poo.

could really be mono - I just heard about two people who currently have it and NO, they do not even know one another. Blood work in order if not better in a couple of weeks. Feel better and REST!
