I was laughing so hard it was painful. I'm more of a Stevie apologist than most of y'all it seems though, so

was there more cringe office humour in this season? it felt like it :-(

penultimate episode almost redeemed this mostly shitty season for me. i've begun to pretty much hate all of Jody Hill's clueless antiheroes, but i think i'd watch a show or movie with Adam Scott playing a slicker more articulate version thereof.

maria's head popping up from under the blanket with a tecate box atop it is among the better tv sight gags i ever did see

last two eps were really good. Feels like a bit of a "b-side" season overall but still one of the funniest things on TV.

i thought stevie got funnier in the last few eps. highlight of the season was probly kenny with don johnson though. jet ski vs. atv convo was awesome

i got feelings during this season that this might be a bad show for assholes and that i might be a bad person for liking it

don johnson was painful imo, having the main character's parent(s) show up and be some older TV icon doing an impression of the main character is one of the laziest sitcom cliches.

if he was 2 1/2 men doing the exact same thing but copping a couple of charlie sheen's mannerisms nobody would call it "great" is all i'm saying

everyone runs to 2 1/2 men.

cliché or not, it worked for me. everybody reacts to Kenny with anger, befuddlement, or supportive acceptance of his character flaws. it was a nice change of pace to have him interact with someone similar to himself, and see how he reacts (sometimes one-upmanship, sometimes impressed by bullshit). I'm glad it only lasted for one episode, but it worked within the context of the show.

xp - charlie sheen's mannerisms aren't funny though, and this show has been full of lazy cliches since ep1 anyway

This majorly otm. I really enjoyed the last episode though, actually quite affecting.

man this show was so much better in the last episode with the old awesome supporting cast back. big mistake to ditch them for this season.

I did...it was good, but didn't blow me away. Too much slo-mo with loud music! I liked enough to keep watching though. Also I have learned not to judge first episodes too harshly.

yeah watching Observe And Report recently i realized that Jody Hill is basically from the Wes Anderson school of "check out this sweet montage set to a gem from my record collection every 15 minutes"

The first episode had like four or five of those though! It did calm down a bit, plus the music is all pretty great. Oogum Boogum in the ep I'm watching right now. I looked for a YouTube of the Trentemoller song so I could hear it again and ALL the comments are like "Kenny Fucking Powers"!

that was maybe my no.1 beef with observe and report - aside from it being unfunny - it was just a nonstop barrage of musical montages. by the end of the movie i was practically seething whenever the next montage started... its so fuckin narcissistic cuz hes just showing off his gd ipod, not trying to entertain us

Some blog put together a soundtrack for season one a while back, think it's gone now though. Was surprised to find out that the sad organ music that plays throughout is a Tindersticks track, assumed it was an original.
