I kind of can't believe both Sluggy Freelance and User Friendly still exist, it seems like they both must have begun to feel hopelessly dated about five months into 1996

Whiney G. Weingarten is the Geir Hongro of comic strips.

ABC is OTM.

OTM. Very crepey...

I must admit, though I occasionally binge read QC I don't like it. I don't hate it (it still has one or two characters I like) but I don't like it.

kv_nol, Monday, 8 October 2007 12:11 (sixteen years ago) link

I still read Sluggy Freelance. The old serious storylines are better than the new serious storylines and I kind of want Oasis dismembered, but I still really like Aylee and Kiki.

HI DERE, Monday, 8 October 2007 14:07 (sixteen years ago) link

I really like Sluggy Freelance! Puns and pretty good story = ROCK!

Kv_nol: I might be wrong, but I think that QC strip you posted is by a guest writer/artist. Not that it necessarily matters to your post; just sayin'.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 8 October 2007 14:21 (sixteen years ago) link

i knew a guy who was way into MT, he would always talk at length about the characters and i was just like what the fuck dude stop

sleep, Monday, 8 October 2007 14:22 (sixteen years ago) link

That doesn't really help the defenders of QC Daniel, Esq! I do like Something Positive a lot of the time though so I feel less bad laughing (xpost)

kv_nol, Monday, 8 October 2007 14:31 (sixteen years ago) link

That doesn't really help the defenders of QC Daniel, Esq!

Fair enough. If, however, someone finds that strip either offensive or too flippant -- as they might, in light of the serious storyline behind it -- I'm only suggesting that the QC author isn't responsible for it (although I suppose he might have blessed it before it was released).

I do like Something Positive a lot of the time though so I feel less bad laughing (xpost)

Is the guest writer of that strip the author of Something Positive?

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 8 October 2007 14:50 (sixteen years ago) link

I believe that it is, yes.

kv_nol, Monday, 8 October 2007 14:53 (sixteen years ago) link

Daniel, QC author's comment:

For those of you unfamiliar with Randy's work over at Something Positive and/or those offended by today's comic, I have a tidbit: I thought it ws completely hilarious. I love it when people play rough with my characters!

Anyway, S*P is an excellent comic all around, and I highly recommend it. Especially if you liked today's guest strip. Oh man I am giggling even now. Randy has encouraged any offended readers to send hatemail to rkm0001 at gmail dot com. I can only hope he will share the cream of the crop with me.

I fucking hate it when stand-up comedians do this shit. "Hey, do you ever wonder what it'd be like if..."

Hummer drivers drive like this...

What is it with internet people making fun of people who drink diet soda?

Does this guy actually think there are people that believe diet soda speeds up their metabolisms? (As opposed to just satiating a soda craving without the 160 corn syrup calories)

Whiney G. Weingarten, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 18:50 (sixteen years ago) link

the calories are the least bad part of soda

Usually becomes it signals an impending impersonation of Robert De Niro doing the washing up, or something.

My favourite online comic is Dinosaur Comics which really does deserve its own thread, but I can't be bothered to start one.

-- Dom Passantino

^ yes

altho it is just as vulnerable to having one strip taken out of context and being made to look lame as any one of the other genuinely shitty comics on this thread.

also when i find myself laughing at mr tusks and batman i do wonder if i'm not just gonna be laughing at digitiser the rest of my life.

Hummer drivers have no blood flow to their genitals, a malady for which a pill was created years ago. Those guys!

wow I hate that comic

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 19:40 (sixteen years ago) link

It's funny how the idea of Cat & Girl being the worst just melted away isn't it.

I just read about 20 Shredded Moose strips, seriously nothing else being talked about here is even coming close to its depths

DJ Mencap, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 20:39 (sixteen years ago) link

I did chuckle at that latest xkcd strip. I fear I am lost.

HI DERE, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 20:41 (sixteen years ago) link

It was a cheap yuk and I felt unhappy about it afterwards.
