I hope glasgow is treating you well, lauren.

tudor baloney (Cozen), Sunday, 20 February 2005 20:40 (nineteen years ago) link

Excuse me, peoples of the good, but I would like to visit Glasgow between July 11 and 13th when I come galumphing over to the UK again. Would anyone care to deal with me or would you prefer I slump in the streets crying or...?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 20 February 2005 20:46 (nineteen years ago) link

Haha, Ned kills thread! I will be superbusy with work so I couldn't put you up, but I would be most happy to squeeze fappage into my schedule.

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 10:29 (nineteen years ago) link

I will fap too, if I'm here.

Cathy (Cathy), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 13:47 (nineteen years ago) link

*merry* :-) Well I'll be trying to book my tickets soon here via EasyJet -- before the dollar completely goes in the toilet ;-) -- and I shamelessly admit knowing I have a place to stay will help! So, please, if I could beg borrow or steal a place to crash for those two nights from anyone, let me know -- and rah to FAPping!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 16:33 (nineteen years ago) link

you can stay, with us, ned, but it won't be until july and I have no idea what will be happening, then, in lives. you can stay, with us, but you may have to fend for yourself, more-or-less, other than the staying with us. you can stay, with us, though, ned.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 22:47 (nineteen years ago) link

It's a sign! :-)

Thank ya, oh comma-laden sir, yer a good man. Fending for myself is no worry, I will go and hunt wild game as need be. (Also, since it's a vacation and all, I know I'm going to want to spend some days where I just go and find a good library/bookstore/coffee place/whatever and spend a chunk of time doing nothing but zoning, reading and relaxing.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 24 February 2005 16:51 (nineteen years ago) link

You could spit at this from RJG's window.

Mooro (Mooro), Thursday, 24 February 2005 17:34 (nineteen years ago) link

Hey, neat! :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 24 February 2005 17:38 (nineteen years ago) link

i just realised that the two times i tried Glasgow this year had prompted a message that said "Poor Ken"! Yet I still long to return soon.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 28 February 2005 14:39 (nineteen years ago) link

both prompted

ken c (ken c), Monday, 28 February 2005 14:40 (nineteen years ago) link

Last nite, I dreamt that I was at a Dot to Dot gig. One of the songs had slap bass and sounded like The Killers.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Monday, 28 February 2005 14:44 (nineteen years ago) link

all the songs are like that.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 28 February 2005 15:03 (nineteen years ago) link

Hey, Jack, get school work done early, and get money, so you can come to Lakeside - with me, and Kelly, and Cook.

jill schoelen is the queen of my dreams! (Homosexual II), Monday, 28 February 2005 16:02 (nineteen years ago) link

I have to be examined, at the start of june, and cook (despite being a bender) won't bend.

: ((((((

RJG (RJG), Monday, 28 February 2005 16:10 (nineteen years ago) link

the eastenders revealed special about june brown on bb3 last week was called dot to dot. i wanted to alert ally to this, but i was too weak from flu. also, not sure if he would care.

lauren!, Monday, 28 February 2005 16:15 (nineteen years ago) link

we don't get digital, in the house.

I think this is, in part, to be thanked, for cook's band's raw and blinkered sound.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 28 February 2005 16:19 (nineteen years ago) link

i want to hear this sound, soon.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 28 February 2005 16:21 (nineteen years ago) link

it is easily imitated, using a CD of whale sounds, a tray of dishes and an empty stair.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 28 February 2005 16:24 (nineteen years ago) link

I meant, recreated.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 28 February 2005 16:26 (nineteen years ago) link

the dishes, ideally, should be dirty and so should the CD.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 28 February 2005 16:27 (nineteen years ago) link

:(

That's not fair.

jill schoelen is the queen of my dreams! (Homosexual II), Monday, 28 February 2005 16:27 (nineteen years ago) link

Is this the longest-ever thread on ILX now? I think it might be.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 28 February 2005 16:32 (nineteen years ago) link

i have almost all the ingredients. i'll try it tonight but will have to substitute in a manics CD and an empty stare.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 28 February 2005 16:33 (nineteen years ago) link

(I have been to Glasgow once. It was raining.)

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 28 February 2005 16:33 (nineteen years ago) link

what did you do there?

ken c (ken c), Monday, 28 February 2005 16:34 (nineteen years ago) link

mandee: I know.

ken: it should work fine.

jaymc: I don't know.

I carried an umbrella about, all day, yesterday, and it didn't rain, at all.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 28 February 2005 16:36 (nineteen years ago) link

you should come back, john. it won't rain.

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 28 February 2005 16:36 (nineteen years ago) link

no matter how hard I try.

I think it was spitting, this morning, but I wasn't awake, in time.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 28 February 2005 16:37 (nineteen years ago) link

I was there with my dad. We were only there for a day. We went to the Gallery of Modern Art, then walked up and down the streets looking for a Rangers jersey for him, and then I think we just sat in a pub and read the newspaper.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 28 February 2005 16:40 (nineteen years ago) link

Woking face a tough tie away to Burton Albion in the FA Trophy.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Tuesday, 1 March 2005 17:35 (nineteen years ago) link

I wonder if there are any other Woking fans, in the whole of Glasgow.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 1 March 2005 20:38 (nineteen years ago) link

i;m going there in April for the Subcurrent festival: i'm not gonna read this thread, so what should i do in the day/where can hang out?

Tannenbaum Schmidt (Nik), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 00:27 (nineteen years ago) link

What's the point in telling you if you're not reading?

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 00:44 (nineteen years ago) link

there is no point.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 02:19 (nineteen years ago) link

What, Woking or Burton? They have a beer festival in Burton, but I think that's all.

My lengthy commentary on this poster/flyer has been lost.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 4 March 2005 11:44 (nineteen years ago) link

Do Glasgow know that Mr Ailsa actually got the job upthread? Hurrah for (1) mr ailsa and (2) miss madchen for mentioning it to us in the first place? Hurrah!!!

Glasgow, let's go out for a meal. Or a pint. Or something.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 4 March 2005 19:46 (nineteen years ago) link

Oh, well done Mr. Ailsa and Madchen!

Cathy (Cathy), Saturday, 5 March 2005 00:14 (nineteen years ago) link

Which White Town track will you be playing?

KeithW (kmw), Saturday, 5 March 2005 00:23 (nineteen years ago) link

I only mention it because I remember a long time ago I did a club at the Potterrow and I had "Age of Chance" on the flyer. A friend of mine pointed out that I might as well have put "Age of Chance: Kiss" on it.

KeithW (kmw), Saturday, 5 March 2005 00:27 (nineteen years ago) link

ally and I both have the LP, with "your woman" on it, and, apparently, they will be playing the full length, of both copies, on loop, during the whole night and for a week, leading up to it, out of sync, by 1.5 seconds.

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 5 March 2005 02:12 (nineteen years ago) link

If you're ever in Wolfits cafe on Rose Street, Edinburgh, check out the door chimes; they sound like "Your Woman". Alternatively, they sound like when Darth Vader turns up on the scene in the Empire Strikes Back.

KeithW (kmw), Saturday, 5 March 2005 11:40 (nineteen years ago) link

I have that White Town album too: can they use a third copy?

Mooro (Mooro), Saturday, 5 March 2005 12:55 (nineteen years ago) link

It is a good album.

Ally C (Ally C), Sunday, 6 March 2005 03:04 (nineteen years ago) link

I wish PJM's commentary hadn't been lost!!

RJG (RJG), Monday, 7 March 2005 12:47 (nineteen years ago) link

Ailsa, when hubby gets home, ask him if his new co-workers instigated a 'coincidental' conversation about Neighbours today.

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 7 March 2005 13:16 (nineteen years ago) link

!!!!!!!
