Yeah, was kinda an OG Deerhunter member. Quit to go to school. Now I have a degree and no job LOL. So rad of Bradford to invite me along for this!

I think first practice was when they just got that record back from the press. I still like that one a whole lot. Played 2nd drums at the time, it was Brad's idea. I learned "Lake Somerset" and probably some others off "Cryptograms", but they didn't have names yet. Been playing with him and Cole since before either bands tho. We met 10 years ago! They are the oldest friends I still play music with.

not sure why but bradford performed as joey ramone with mgmt who were performing lucifer sam last night on fallon. looks great though.

Still love the titular album for this thread. Was my #2 of 2010 and just revisited it last night, still very much deserving of that spot.

Also, MGMT's "Congratulation" was way underrated.

It seems like people love Deerhunter/Atlas Sound more and more as time goes on but to me it's all getting more moving and less emotionally involving as it goes

i've only heard the song streaming on pitchfork, but it's awesome, favorite lotus plaza thing i've heard, stoked for the rest of the album. and i like deerhunter/atlas sound more and more as time goes on! :)

parallax, in particular, really rewards repeated listening. it didn't get any love here on the year end poll (which i didn't vote on because i don't know anything about music obv) but it was like top 3 2011 for me.

New LP LP (heh) is different than the debut, that's for sure. Still sorting out my feelings about it but it trumPs Parallax (the first AS LP I didn't "get").

anxious to hear this LP lp, as 'Desire Lines' is my favorite track on Halcyon Digest.

I put "Fluorescent Grey" on a Top 10 a few years ago, but with a little nudge from Christgau, I'm just getting around to this album and the new one now. I'll need more time with Monomania, but Halcyon Digest I love immediately. Especially the last three songs--even looked up the lyrics for "He Would Have Laughed," something I never do. Certain lines seemed a little too close to home...but I guess he's writing about some invented character, not himself.

Okay--don't know anything about him beyond that he died. I initially interpreted the lyrics literally and had the weird idea that he was writing about Daniel Plainview from There Will Be Blood. Anyway, sobering song for anyone drifting through middle age.

still love this record, monomania is not my thing at all but i can live with liking every other deerhunter album.

I've only heard the latest three Deerhunter albums and this is the only one I've really enjoyed. I should probably get round to hearing Cryptograms at some point.

I'm a late convert to this album but I really do love it. One of the few recent albums I can find that really scratches the same itch as the late-90s psyche classics like Dusk at Cubist Castle or The Soft Bulletin or Arnold's Hillside.

Well, I'm yet to be converted! What am I missing?
