Got round to checking, and it's so long since there was anything I actually wanted to buy on PSN that the card details they've lost were for a card which has already expired anyway. A year ago.

Bit scared to turn on my PS3 -- is there any way right now for me to see what CC I had stored on PSN, if indeed I had one stored there?
― NoShoutsNoCalls (Leee), Sunday, 1 May 2011 18:56 (thirteen years ago) link
Try turning it on without it being plugged into the internet.
― reggaeton for the painfully alone (polyphonic), Sunday, 1 May 2011 19:10 (thirteen years ago) link
it's already been taken, no worries about turning it on now.

Check your email history, search for anything sent from DoNotRe✧✧✧@a✧.playstat✧✧✧.n✧✧. Should tell you which cc you used.

Er.

Turning on your Playstation, leaving it off, or whatever else is moot now because whatever could have been copied was on the remote end.
― mh, Sunday, 1 May 2011 21:45 (thirteen years ago) link
Found the email, no CC listed (does have my real address unfortunately) but I did buy a game over PSN sometime later...
― NoShoutsNoCalls (Leee), Sunday, 1 May 2011 21:48 (thirteen years ago) link
never got an email
― And thusly create the illusion of babby (forksclovetofu), Sunday, 1 May 2011 22:11 (thirteen years ago) link
has there been a single confirmed case of unauthorized CC use that can be traced to this?
― 40% chill and 100% negative (Tracer Hand), Sunday, 1 May 2011 22:48 (thirteen years ago) link
well aren't they saying that the cc details are encrypted, but the names and addresses are not?
so what can the crims do with that?

Identity theft!
Still so much speculation. I just put a fraud alert on my financial profile and I'll keep an eye out for charges for a while.

Is it like a global trend for PS3 fanboys to angrily insist they're fine with the situation and that everyone's blowing it out of proportion out of anti-Sony bias, or is it just a Eurogamer comment box thing
― MPx4A, Monday, 2 May 2011 14:24 (thirteen years ago) link
so before someone buys a timeshare in my name and I go to debtor's prison, I wanted to say I just bought Top Spin 4 and I think I'm going to like it a lot

12,700 non-US customer credit or debit card numbers and expiration dates (but not credit card security codes) and about 10,700 direct debit records listing bank account numbers of certain customers in Germany, Austria, Netherlands and Spain may have also been obtained—we will be notifying each of those customers promptly

My PS3 YLOD'd a week before this PSN nonsense happened. I had been thinking about either paying to have it repaired or even buying a new one, but now I am thinking about making the leap to 360 (or possibly just getting Apple TV and sticking to PC gaming).
