Whoa, AaronHz is back
And better than ever! Hi man.
― AaronHz, Tuesday, 10 May 2011 16:50 (thirteen years ago) link
I was kind of hoping to play Beyond Good and Evil HD this month.
Instead I've decided to finish Red Dead Redemption and I am having so much fun that I'm not even noticing my bank account being drained every time I switch it on.

any idea how this is affecting the market value of second-hand ps3s? just wondering if now is the time to buy...

Not as much as you'd expect according to our numbers. But they're still in decline, I'd give it another week or two then see how things look.

You're saying I should sell quick?
― NoShoutsNoCalls (Leee), Saturday, 14 May 2011 18:11 (thirteen years ago) link
I doubt the market will crash or anything, but even before the outage, most major retailers started discounting all three systems or offering $50 gift cards with one. With E3 around the corner, the Wii 2 already announced, I'm expecting price drops or new SKUs for every system. The original Wii drop is already pretty much in effect, with the new Mario Kart bundle.

Not much psn functionality for my portable yet, it seems. But it's gratifying that at least something happens.

I was fully expecting it to be a free copy of PAIN but that's a pretty good offer right there. my PS3 choices are pretty much set in stone (had owned LBP & Infamous previously but sold them a while back) - anyone have any feedback about the options on the PSP side?
― you penis-curling she-devils (jamescobo), Monday, 16 May 2011 23:15 (thirteen years ago) link
Assuming I already have the Wipeout games and no others in the list, what are my best options?(US)
― mh, Monday, 16 May 2011 23:16 (thirteen years ago) link
Off another forum (presumably from a US blog):
The games are mostly on the older side but it's a nice lineup:
PlayStation 3
LittleBigPlanetInfamous*Wipeout HD/FurySuper Stardust HDDead Nation
PSP
LittleBigPlanetModNationPursuit ForceKillzone Liberation
The lineup's a little bit different in Europe:
LittleBigPlanetInfamous*Wipeout HD/FuryRatchet and Clank: Quest for BootyDead Nation*
LittleBigPlanet PSPModNation PSPPursuit Force*Killzone Liberation*Asterisks can be a scary thing, but in this case, it's only scary if you're from Germany, where Sony's swapping those games for a few others, most likely due to the country's stringent content restrictions. inFamous and Dead Nation are placed with Super Stardust HD and Hustle Kings, while Killzone Liberation and Pursuit Force transform into Everybody's Golf 2 and Buzz! Junior Jungle Party.
As already announced, you'll also gain access to 30 days of PlayStation Plus. Existing members will simply receive an additional month. Sony will also have a lineup of "On Us" movies available to watch, too. If the lineup of games available is anything like the movies, it's reasonable to expect Sony-produced flicks.
PlayStation Home users are in for something, too, though Sony isn't saying what.
It's worth pointing out again that this lineup is for European customers and could differ in the US.

zappi just posted that
― mh, Monday, 16 May 2011 23:22 (thirteen years ago) link
Wow, given that I only own four PS3 games, the chances of two of them being on the list were probably pretty slim. But yeah, already have LBP and Wipeout, and don't particularlywant any of those others. Might've been tempted by Super Stardust if that'd been on our list, bah.
― JimD, Monday, 16 May 2011 23:30 (thirteen years ago) link
I'm thinking Super Stardust and LBP?
― mh, Monday, 16 May 2011 23:31 (thirteen years ago) link

in EUPS3 - pick 2 out ofLittleBigPlanetInfamousWipeout HD/FuryRatchet and Clank: Quest for BootyDead Nation
Already got the first three :(
Doesn't PSN Plus entitle you to some free stuff from the store (like old PSX games - p sure o.g. Sonic was on there as an exclusive free game for Plus users)? Would that free stuff disappear once your free month ended?
― the goon is in the gutter (onimo), Tuesday, 17 May 2011 12:31 (thirteen years ago) link
tell me more about Infamous, Ratchet & Clank and Dead Nation, pls.
― licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Tuesday, 17 May 2011 12:54 (thirteen years ago) link
I am currently playing through Infamous and I think it's great fun. Free roaming third person hero stuff where the main protagonist has somehow harnessed electrical power allowing him to zap stuff. Playing through story or side missions and collecting stuff and doing random good/bad deeds earns XP and allows power upgrades. Lots of climbing and jumping around buildings and grinding power lines.
Good thread here: come anticipate a TS w/me: infamous Vs. prototype Vs. I am alive
― the goon is in the gutter (onimo), Tuesday, 17 May 2011 13:04 (thirteen years ago) link
oh yeah, lol i got real excited about Infamous on that thread. It is good though.

Apparently this Ratchet & Clank game isn't a full release, it's a four hour mini-version or something that was made for PSN?

― zappi, Tuesday, 17 May 2011 16:01 (thirteen years ago) link
xpost I thought Wipeout HD/Fury sold so bad that the company who made it went out of business (or at least so badly that they were compelled to put shamefully unavoidable product placements in Fury)? I know the online playerbase was pathetically miniscule last time I checked.
in any event, it really is a shame because that game is capital-g Great.

sorry, I meant "everyone with a brain"
― I HAVE ISSUES (DJP), Tuesday, 17 May 2011 17:54 (thirteen years ago) link
Wipeout HD is indeed great (can't remember if I ever got around to buying the Fury pack) which is why imo this whole free game thing is an empty gesture to entice people back. Stacking the list with musty old best-sellers that everyone owns and now aren't worth anything is the sort of cynical rubbish that doesn't surprise me coming from Sony.
― 百万个叉烧包 (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 17 May 2011 22:07 (thirteen years ago) link
i'll admit i was naive and harbored hope for Beyond Good and Evil HD in this list, given that it was due to come out in "May".. :(
― 40% chill and 100% negative (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 17 May 2011 23:09 (thirteen years ago) link
