Voted Marvin Gaye as I loved Temple's 'Oil City Confidential' and am intrugued to see what he would do here. Of the ones which are in development limbo has to be Milli Vanilli. I don't know the best way to approach it, 24HPP/Producers style farce or something darker.

to me the main problem with these (and i guess biopics in general) is how they try to cram a whole life into a single two hour narrative. i'd love to see a movie about, say, a month in the life of miles davis in the late 50s or something. but a movie that does the whole childhood to death thing is not terribly interesting.

True story: I once got approached by a (very, very seedy) producer to write a mystery about the last night of Sam Cooke's life. I talked to Ned about it when we sat at the Hotel Figueroa, and we realized there was no way to make it a good movie.

Hilly Kristal would be an interesting project if it followed the interpretive fantasia format a la Velvet Goldmine, where you get guess the characters' identities -- "obv Mapplethorpe", "I think that might be Cheetah Chrome, not sure", "the hair's a toss up between Billy Ficca and Clem Burke"...

Sadly, yes. Even with Daltrey producing, a star on board (Mike Myers, and not, inexplicably, Jason Schwartman), and a working title (See Me, Feel Me: Keith Moon Naked, For Your Pleasure) Roger never found a script to his liking, despite being deluged with them.

There was a Keith Moon biopic planned some years ago. Was it dropped? Because if there's one biopic I'd love to see, it would be Keith Moon.

It definitely would've made a great movie, but it was in development for nearly 10 years, and Daltrey never found a decent script, so he essentially killed the project.

Actually, he initiated the project, and was one of the producers. He definitely wanted to make sure that a sub-par Moon movie never got made, though. But interviews from around 8-10 years ago show him really excited about Mike Myers signing on.

Myers has also been older than Moon was when he died since about 1994, which is always annoying/distracting in biopics

I could almost see Myers as Moon circa '77-'78. But Schwartzman has the advantage of a) looking like Moon, and b) being a drummer.
