Might as well throw my 2cents into this shitstorm. People who find tipping complicated.. Sounds like they just don't make enough money to eat out at Applebees every night, probably should leave throwing money around to those who actually have it

i once tipped in origami elephants at a japanese restaurant, not a spur of the moment thing, i literally took an hour to learn how to do it

the server didn't appreciate it. she wasn't even japanese and didn't know what an elephant looked like

every time we get a tipping thread, things devolve into nonsense. can we get a moratorium on being mean, and go back to saying ridiculous made up shit? like, i once went to a restaurant where my sister was a server. i gave her a pack of menthol cigarettes as a tip. she was ripshit. later, at home, i gave her a twenty.

for the record I really was interested in this issue but good job guys

Someone left me their kid's drawing as a tip once. It had an alien landing on the moon (with a U.S. falg? confusing grey narrative) and was captioned "breakfast was out of this world." I still get mad when I think about that shit.

i'm really surprised that frogbs had to turn to ilx for a discussion on how different races tip -- i would've thought that would've been a hit topic at parties!
