Don't be sorry! That's cool!

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 17:51 (nineteen years ago) link

Oh I see... It was a kind of 'European Union' thing going on

yes. it was a really bad concept based around 'music without frontiers'. sadly it wasn't a knockout.

and RJG, yr right, i did see jed and yrself.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 17:53 (nineteen years ago) link

oh yes, and i do know joss though we seem to have lost touch now.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 17:57 (nineteen years ago) link

We should organize a Scotland knees-up the next time Joss is over. I'm off for my own mini-knees-up now.

KeefW (kmw), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 18:04 (nineteen years ago) link

I was sorry not to hook up w/ Tim H and other ILXers - my friend Frank, who I was staying w/ in Dennistoun, took me on a fantastic walking tour of the city, from the Necropolis to the University, and by the time that had finished I had to head straight to the CCA.

I also enjoyed the Finnish hippies on Friday - particularly ES - and lots of the noizemakers on Saturday night, tho' I found Wolf Eyes a bit jockish this time round (w/ his meaty arm punching and freshly shaved head John Olson now looks like one of the High School Nazis in Animal House or something...) - INSANELY loud tho

My highlight was actually Hototogisu on Thursday night - Matthew Bower and Marcia Bassett from Double Leopards making VAST drones from just gutted gtrs microphones and amps - pure white light from the mouth of infinity - Virgin Eye Blood Brothers also dished up some gd sick shit right after

I sort've fell in love w/ Glasgow

Andrew J L, Tuesday, 26 April 2005 18:14 (nineteen years ago) link

Glasgow is so confusing. I need a lie down.

People I was confusedly burbling to in the pub on Friday about someone called Andrew something that posted on the Try Glasgow More thread and might be supposed to be being in the pub, Andrew JL would be that same person I meant.

Ally C, are you going to watch Chelsea v Liverpool tomorrow in a pub?

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 18:38 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm game.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 20:22 (nineteen years ago) link

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 20:48 (nineteen years ago) link

haha you were too!

but no matter. it's all part of the fun. I saw that Fabrice Lig track in Rub-A-Dub the next day but didn't listen to it, I'll be gutted I bet when I download it off your gmail and like it.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 20:52 (nineteen years ago) link

i didn't make it to optimo on time - glad to hear i didn't let you and alba down. i wonder if Nick schmidt went?

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 20:55 (nineteen years ago) link

stirmonster, I have an M&S badge though I can only wish it said 'cozen'.

yeah, colin, you were kinda drunk.

ronan, it was really cool to meet you. I was telling amanda about your 'shall we look up the definition of a song' spiel, it was v.funny.

well done to RJG as well for spotting t.schmidt. it ws nice to meet you too nick, we should grab a drink at sonar.

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 11:19 (nineteen years ago) link

Andrew, you were staying round the corner from where Tim was staying with me.

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 11:20 (nineteen years ago) link

I don't think I am up for football tonight anymore - I didn't get enough sleep last night and earlys start zzz.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 11:58 (nineteen years ago) link

Stacey, were you responsible for "Chariot of Fur"?

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 14:57 (nineteen years ago) link

i wish! nah... and now i'm back to writing about lovelorn cows and their mechanical diggers... bah.
i can't believe no one has mentioned the hilarious dot to dot list review yet!

dahlin (dahlin), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 20:32 (nineteen years ago) link

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 22:23 (nineteen years ago) link

I didn't make it to Optimo, jed.... well I did but it was at 11:30 the queue looked too long, so we stayed in the cab and went to NiceNSleazy and then home.

Had fun in Stereo earlier watching karakoe and then some kaelie (sp?)

Glasgow is a grand city, I loved Kelvinhall park.

Cozen, Sonar beers soon come.

Kelvingrove.

Madchen (Madchen), Thursday, 28 April 2005 07:39 (nineteen years ago) link

Was it better than my review?

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Thursday, 28 April 2005 08:12 (nineteen years ago) link

I actually can't remember what spiel my "look up the dictionary definition of a song" thing was, was it a rant at Alba? I did a few of those I think but it's a blur now!

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 28 April 2005 08:41 (nineteen years ago) link

Does anyone want to join me for FREE WINE on 12th May at 6pm? It's at the SECC and you have to pretend you're interested in antiques. I can take 3 people with me. Do you need persuading? FREE WINE.

Madchen (Madchen), Thursday, 28 April 2005 13:36 (nineteen years ago) link

Free wine? That sounds like exactly the kind of thing that floats my boat. I watch Bargain Hunt sometimes, does that qualify me to kid on I care about antiques?

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 28 April 2005 15:29 (nineteen years ago) link

It'll do!

Madchen (Madchen), Thursday, 28 April 2005 15:58 (nineteen years ago) link

I met an old woman who was thrown out of aberdeen graveyard for singing christmas carols in april, today.

cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 7 May 2005 17:10 (nineteen years ago) link

This is not about Glasgow. Either I had a dream about Cozen or I just thought about Cozen, yesterday. I wonder if there is still time to try Aberdeen.

Ally C (Ally C), Sunday, 8 May 2005 13:36 (nineteen years ago) link

I might try Edinburgh.

Tim (Tim), Monday, 9 May 2005 13:50 (nineteen years ago) link

I just saw Patrick at Queen Street Station. I was with two work people and we both acted embarrassed.

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:22 (nineteen years ago) link

Patrick is taking my picture, tonight!

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:35 (nineteen years ago) link

what about glasgow?

RJG (RJG), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:54 (nineteen years ago) link

Hopefully see you, in the house, in Glasgow, RJG!

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 9 May 2005 15:00 (nineteen years ago) link

It's funny, I was in the Architecture Building and I wondered, as I always do, if I would bump into RJG. Patrick at Queen Street I'd never have guessed.

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 9 May 2005 15:01 (nineteen years ago) link

I am only ever in the AB 10PM-10AM.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 9 May 2005 15:12 (nineteen years ago) link

I think you should actively look for RJG in the Architecture Buildings, by peeping through the little windows in the doors. Hopefully, somewhere they will be having a slide show, probably of buildings, and you will spot RJG by his massive quiff casting a mighty shadow over the screen.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Monday, 9 May 2005 15:14 (nineteen years ago) link

Madchen, please tell me about FREE WINE! I am currently drinking nearly free wine, as Tesco across the road from my house are selling their own brand Australian Red for £1.89 per bottle, with a 5% discount if you buy six bottles. This is, like, almost free. And I don't have to go to the SECC to drink it (however, I also don't have Madchen's company, so swings and roundabouts, innit)

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 9 May 2005 15:36 (nineteen years ago) link

But does it taste like vinegar?

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 9 May 2005 16:31 (nineteen years ago) link

No, it doesn't. It is surprisingly OK for the price. Offer ends tomorrow so I may go and buy more.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 9 May 2005 16:33 (nineteen years ago) link

surely, every building is an architecture building.

yes, that was twatty.

sadly there is no time left to try aberdeen.

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 9 May 2005 16:35 (nineteen years ago) link

Why? Did you destroy it when you left?

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 9 May 2005 16:36 (nineteen years ago) link

Tim, it would be rude not to!

KeefW (kmw), Monday, 9 May 2005 17:02 (nineteen years ago) link

(Although I thought you'd weaned yourself off of ILX)
