BBC did a discussion show during the first couple of seasons of 24. It was utter trash but oddly watchable.

I would have enjoyed a Lost one, but this show isn't really complex enough that it needs a discussion show.

Freeway scene might be the best set piece this show has done. Still not convinced, even if it broke every cable record or whatever.

I barely breathed while they were under the cars! I re-watched and it wasn't the least bit scary - definitely a suspense-based thriller.

Probably the best episode so far, I'm hoping things continue to pick up this season. I think the weakest link is still the cast, not a single one of them really does a convincing job of selling their character imho. I get that is kinda secondary to OMG gore and zombies, but its the only thing keeping this from being an A+ show.

wow, really? I couldn't really watch this past the kid running back to the family after hiding in a tree and sheriff yokum beating the heads of zombies in. The show just sadly isn't that good.

Then you missed the digging through zombie guts scene! I didn't - I had just sat down with a nice chicken stir fry at that point D: Note to self: do not eat during The Walking Dead.

This is true, for the most part. I feel like the main dude COULD be a compelling character though. But, yeah, the rest of them are barely sketches of character tropes at this point, hardly the fault of the actors that none of them are engaging I guess. But wife-stealing redneck guy is a pretty terrible actor it seems.

i've determined that what i really want out of this show is just like nonstop zombie mobs wandering around.
tell the story from the zombie perspective. i don't give two shits about any of these characters. until they're zombies.

justen so otm. I was already skeptical about the show developing past "whoa zombies" but gave them the benefit of the doubt that a year to work on who these people are would get the show rolling into a decent ensemble show with a horror background. Then that opening monologue came. Ugh.

i'm pretty sure they would make even the zombie dialogue annoying and unbelievable.

See I think this show plays up to my expectations wrt to zombies, tension, and gore enough that I can overlook the shitty characters and dialogue. Keep giving me scenes of zombie autopsy, gruesome deaths, suspenseful moments like the kids under the car, and genuinely WTF moments like the last 2 minutes of this episode and its more than enough to keep me watching. I don't expect like Emmy winning performances from this show.

kinda hoping the new showrunner (dude from The Shield who wasn't Shawn Ryan) & writing staff will spruce things up, & I am willing to stick around to find out. Darabont allegedly wrote & had quite a hand in the first several eps, so it will take a minute to shake out.

also can someone explain to me why any parent would let their kid come along on a wild zombie hunt beyond "because the kid said 'but mommm!'"? that was the most horrible plot contrivance I've come across in awhile.

why did they HAVE to rerecord that monologue and play it without any background surface noise at all? Not only was it terribly written but the sound was crazy amateurish.

According to AICN the freeway scene and i guess scenes before it were from Darabont's first ep that was then cut into the redone second ep which is why it was 90 minutes. I don't know if there is any truth to that.

yeah the kid going on the zombie hunt and then worse being left behind with a small group was the dumbest damn thing i have seen in the horror genre in a long time, and that is saying something

The characters on this show should just walk around holding signs with their motivation and emotional state on them.

I was so bummed that after that long delay, this was the best they could come up with. Sure, the setpiece was great - except for the complete lack of logic of this 150 zombie horde suddenly appearing *behind* them on the highway, while they've been keeping watch, no less. Solemn dialog is just shit on this show, not not at all like the badassary of the comic. Was worried there would by a LOL dumb woman assembled the gun wrong joke, but thank goodness they didn't go that route.

The rest of the show was iirc just them running back and forth in the woods. Which was very boring.

Also, missed opportunity to have a zombie lurch out of the bushes and eat the magic buck. (Plus, why did that dude raise his gun to shoot the buck before head sheriff stopped him? Was he planning the carry that huge animal through the zombie woods back to camp?).

Anyway, dumb show, not getting better. And the pre-ep flashback to the CDC episode reminded me of how bad it can still get

the first 20 mins were good, everything after that bad. at least the gore effects are great. things that made me laugh:

-rick monologue in beginning where he goes 'he told me... he told me... Ah it doesnt matter.'
-kid gettin shot, too bad the preview shows him being taken somewhere to presumably recover

just finished season one myself. really disappointing but yeah, im gonna watch season two

have forgotten every character but egg and only thing I remember about him is that he's egg

his wife was in prison break surprised to remember I managed to resist watching beyond the first season of that

don't even remember season one being this shit, the script is horrendous. that opening monologue was just truly awful. the zombies still look great and it surprises me with how disgusting it is, will keep watching but it's dumb as hell.

I was getting pissed off with the whole "fuel situation" stopping them from choosing alternate routes, shouting "there are literally thousands of fucking cars everywhere, siphon some fuel!" then of them said "hey why don't we siphon some fuel?" so I let them off.

Zombie gut check was good. As was the wtf unexpected shooting - I expected something unexpected but not that.

All of the woman are better actors than all of the men.
