I was expecting their horses to be being devoured by zombie hordes while they were at it in the drug store. Budget clearly didn't stretch. I think that's the lowest zombie quotient so far, one single zombie (brilliantly pulled to pieces).

I can't make out a word Shane says. Mumbling fuck.

They really have timed the zombie scenes perfectly to just keep you watching till the next zombie scene. I wonder do they just film them separately, then test-screen the talky bits and insert a zombie scene just as the test audience starts throwing things at the screen and shouting "SHUT UP YOU TEDIOUS AIRHEADS!"

When Herschel said they might be able to stay if they abided by the no-guns rule, I said to my husband "I bet you ten pounds one of those morons will shoot something next week."

is it bad that I kinda hoped that Lori left the safety off the gun when she crashed the car?
I don't like her very much, is all

She's pretty awful. Even on the rare occasions where her motivations make sense she's just totally unsympathetic.

Shane is like the worst version of Judd Nelson's character in Breakfast Club, who keeps getting in worse trouble bc he thinks it's cool not to stfu

Rick, Glenn & Daryl can all live. Everyone else can diaf

god this show is fucking shit. can't wait for next week.

I'm going to allow this! (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 14 February 2012 23:38 (twelve years ago) link

I hope for season three - besides hoping that there is no season three - that they have audience involvement, where you can vote for which character you want killed. Like American Zombie Idol.

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 14 February 2012 23:39 (twelve years ago) link

like how they bring in a vaguely interesting element (those other dudes in the bar) and then kill them off just as your interest is sparked. This show irritates me so much. Will watch every week.

owenf, Tuesday, 14 February 2012 23:51 (twelve years ago) link

by far the worst series in the history of television

When it came back on this week I just couldn't start watching it again, I couldn't take any more farm shenanigans.

oh shit, it's back on?

De La Soil (admrl), Wednesday, 15 February 2012 22:00 (twelve years ago) link

Feels good to not watch this anymore. Deleted the last two episodes of the first part of the season off the DVR two weeks ago, unwatched, figured thats a good sign that I don't need to follow the second half.

Tbh, I'm sort of still pissed off that they managed to ruin a potentially thrilling show.

I still love it in a hate-it way.

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 15 February 2012 22:04 (twelve years ago) link

it is stupid. it is fine. i still can't hear anything any characters say on this show. it may as well be a mute pantomime.

owenf, Wednesday, 15 February 2012 22:55 (twelve years ago) link

I stopped watching after first or second ep this season. Wife and I couldn't keep a straight face, and not in a fun way. Feels good to be done with it.

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 15 February 2012 22:57 (twelve years ago) link

I make it a habit to have at least one tv show in my viewing schedule that makes me shout at the tv. Project Runway is kind of a snoozefest so Walking Dead has filled that gap for me

rrrobyn van pursuit (admrl), Thursday, 16 February 2012 00:44 (twelve years ago) link

We weren't fun-laughing, we were grimacing and wincing at how lame it was.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 16 February 2012 00:48 (twelve years ago) link

I mean, it basically boils down to if you aren't going to make this show about zombie gore and brutality and want us to care about a core group of characters, please do something to make at least a few of them likable. Or at the very least a character arc worth even following.

Gonjasufjanstephen O'Malley (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Thursday, 16 February 2012 03:19 (twelve years ago) link

I'm working on a basic theory that the reason I respond so viscerally to these maddening characters is that they are drawn so well as to resemble people I would hate irl

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 16 February 2012 03:26 (twelve years ago) link

I knew this show would fuck it all up when for the season one finale of a show about the zombie apocalypse, they instead chose to end it with a fucking ticking countdown to a building blowing up. Like, what the fuck? Are union wages for zombie hordes so high that they just can't fill a show about zombies with zombies?

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 16 February 2012 03:32 (twelve years ago) link

Weeeellll, I'm not so much "I demand all zombies all the time", I don't mind some non-zombie times.

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 16 February 2012 03:34 (twelve years ago) link

I find it hard to believe in the zombie apocalypse, there would be a lot of non-zombie downtime.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 16 February 2012 03:39 (twelve years ago) link

I keep expecting them to find some giant theater where all the zombies are gathered watching "Snow White."

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 16 February 2012 03:39 (twelve years ago) link

Do you all think that you would hate the show as much as you say, if you didn't have each other to get all riled up about it with? Be honest. I mean, they probably don't have the budget of Game of Thrones so I usually attribute most of the lack of action to that, and aren't they following a specific story? I don't think this show is that bad, but the idea of survival in a zombie apocalypse has always been a fascinating scenario to me, so I'm more easily satisfied in this case. They're due for another large scale run-in with zombies by now I'll say that much.

Evan, Thursday, 16 February 2012 05:09 (twelve years ago) link

Characters are all pretty unlikeable but I'd be a negative nancy too if I knew there wasn't a way out of that world either.

Evan, Thursday, 16 February 2012 05:11 (twelve years ago) link

Zombie movies being famously big budget and expensive to make

owenf, Thursday, 16 February 2012 12:05 (twelve years ago) link

I've been a negative, er, Josh since episode two. I was a fan of the comic and it was something I looked forward to. I even had my wife on board, and she is not a zombie stan. But it nosedived so fast I took to the boards (as such) to confirm it was not just a matter of my perspective or misplaced expectations and that, yes, the show was screwing up a sure thing.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 16 February 2012 12:55 (twelve years ago) link

owen sustaining that over a whole show is another thing. But yeah, I think they must be able to do more action wise than what they've done per episode so far.

Got you Josh, just suspected everyone was feeding off each others collective disappointment here and the common voice turns out to be way angrier than each individual might be.
