I've also been rewatching S4 - the episode where Don goes down to California and no one has told Anna that she's dying is heartbreaking. And then you get Don and Laine going out and getting slaughtered as well. Genuinely don't understand why anyone thinks that series was a drop-off in quality.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 14 February 2012 10:13 (twelve years ago) link
yeah I am noticing lots of little things, foreshadowing/nuances. Like there's a bit in the episode where Pete finds out Trudy is pregnant and Laine's telling him he has to ditch his father-in-law's account - Laine is kind of a dick to Pete re: fatherhood and "manning up", as it were, which is laden with irony given Laine's relationship with his own father as revealed in a later episode.

Fun David Chase quote in this piece:
"‘Seinfeld,’ they ended it with them all going to jail. Now that’s the ending we should have had. And they should have had ours, where it blacked out in a diner.”

I meant, if this is real.
The alcohol in vodka wouldn't freeze at normal freezer temps and the ice cream would be runny

The raisins aren't completely frozen and are embedded in frozen ice cream?
― valleys of your mind (mh), Friday, 9 March 2012 17:03 (twelve years ago) link
yeah but you still put some rum in too. It does make it harder to freeze but it is possible
― Number None, Friday, 9 March 2012 17:05 (twelve years ago) link
they couldn't sell it if there was so much alcohol that it would prevent freezing. the alcohol must cooked off at some point.

Now the black people are protesting outside, as if threatening to become actual characters. I see go-go boots and shorter skirts and blocks of trippy color. I see the first hint of plumage on the men. Don and Megan’s new high-rise apartment is a splash of white carpet and zebra-striped pillows. It’s like their world is about to burst, as we’ve always known it must. This updated “Mad Men” is a mind-blowing retrogasm.
