well mr. research and i come from the same village and there's a big research clan there. i thought it might have been old shuggie research you were referring to.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:20 (eighteen years ago) link

Ah OK

Are you from Currie/Balerno then?

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:21 (eighteen years ago) link

Hmmm...perhaps I'll rethink my playlist entirely and base it around a centerpiece of 'Rebel Rebel'.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:21 (eighteen years ago) link

i am indeed. a balerno boy.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:22 (eighteen years ago) link

jed_ (jed), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:22 (eighteen years ago) link

I've found "Paperlate" works as a a good centerpiece in the past.

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:22 (eighteen years ago) link

Stirmonster, ah! Do you know Dave Gibson then?

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:23 (eighteen years ago) link

that's the fellow jed!

dave gibson? there used to be a dave gibson who bullied me relentlessly. i wonder if it's the same one?

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:24 (eighteen years ago) link

Hmmm... I doubt it.... Very skinny bloke... I will check though.

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:25 (eighteen years ago) link

Twitch - you should come to the Woodside tomorrow, not to see my insult to the DJing profession but for Foxface - do you know them? I think you'd like them.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:25 (eighteen years ago) link

how old would he be?

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:25 (eighteen years ago) link

That said, what's your actual surname? Dave would be I think late 30s/40 now.

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:26 (eighteen years ago) link

alas alba i have to work but i would very much like to hear you play (and see foxface) even though being in a nightclub voluntarily is a very rare occurrence for me.

my surname is mcivor, keef. i am in my mid (heading to late) 30s.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:28 (eighteen years ago) link

I'll check with Dave come Monday...

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:29 (eighteen years ago) link

That's a shame, though the Woodside hardly counts as a nightclub in my book.

This is like Surprise Surprise.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:30 (eighteen years ago) link

You are joking. The Woodside is second to only the old Potterrow as the best night out in Scotland in the last 20 years I reckon.

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:31 (eighteen years ago) link

it would bring a tear to a glass eye.

xp

haha

jed_ (jed), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:31 (eighteen years ago) link

yr right, it's not a nightclub. actually the woodside is more my type of place than yr average city centre niterie. and within stumbling distance of my abode too. bonus! i used to heart potterrow.

do check dave. ask him if he has a brother called peter. if so, tell him he's a bully!

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:32 (eighteen years ago) link

Anyone else who happens to be reading this, do come to the Winchester Club tomorrow.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:33 (eighteen years ago) link

er, check WITH dave.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:33 (eighteen years ago) link

Haha! OK I will check...

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:33 (eighteen years ago) link

Keith (W) - I like the Woodside. I just meant if someone didn't like nightclubs then they might consider that it didn't really count as it's well... a bit different. Which I'm sure Keith (M) knows. I was just saying. Something. I don't know now.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:34 (eighteen years ago) link

yes, i'm drunk too.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:36 (eighteen years ago) link

People used to not consider Potterrow as a nightclub because it was a student union, which is of course bollocks, it's just building with booze and music, which is the same thing whatever. I like the Woodside. Home of the boys' bridgade.

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:37 (eighteen years ago) link

jed, yr a lush.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:37 (eighteen years ago) link

are you sober?!

jed_ (jed), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:38 (eighteen years ago) link

sadly yes. do my posts have an air of intoxication about them?

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:40 (eighteen years ago) link

Nick, any prog rock lined up for tomorrow?

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:42 (eighteen years ago) link

not at all, it's just that time of night!

xp

jed_ (jed), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:44 (eighteen years ago) link

No prog. No samba. No fun.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:47 (eighteen years ago) link

Pity. I always find that "Supper's Ready" gets the party started.

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:49 (eighteen years ago) link

are you not getting samba ya bamba to accompany you, alba?

jed_ (jed), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:50 (eighteen years ago) link

samba ya bamba playing along to alba playing 'supper's ready. now that would be a real treat.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:53 (eighteen years ago) link

With Max Carlish as freaky dancer. Up Kate.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:55 (eighteen years ago) link

stirmonster - your services are required here

ways in which your street differs from [UK Soap] street.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:56 (eighteen years ago) link

Goodnight! I'm off to bed.

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:56 (eighteen years ago) link

I'm not entirely sure I have ever heard 'Supper's Ready', though I have read about it a lot. I did download 'Follow You Follow Me' yesterday though. It's a treat.

Night Keith. Think I am too. I'm actually working tomorrow, prior to the Samba Y Phila explosion.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:57 (eighteen years ago) link

ok jed i shall check out yr soap thread before heading of to bed too. night all.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Saturday, 11 June 2005 00:00 (eighteen years ago) link

I was just talking about the Woodside with Ally C, last week. I wish I could be there. Ggod night, glasgow.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Saturday, 11 June 2005 00:03 (eighteen years ago) link

I knew I'd regret stacey's new job

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 11 June 2005 15:31 (eighteen years ago) link

o no....

hello. is this the real, glasgy thread?

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Saturday, 11 June 2005 15:44 (eighteen years ago) link

is there an end-of-148 party?

cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 11 June 2005 17:53 (eighteen years ago) link

It's already been demolished. Look sharp grandad.

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 11 June 2005 18:22 (eighteen years ago) link

how was your gig, Alba?

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 12 June 2005 11:59 (eighteen years ago) link

party in the rubble.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 12 June 2005 12:00 (eighteen years ago) link

It was OK. Foxface were good again but it was bit empty and I went on first so my DJ skills were not really tested.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 12 June 2005 12:08 (eighteen years ago) link

What 'bombs did you drop'?

KeefW (kmw), Sunday, 12 June 2005 12:10 (eighteen years ago) link

Does stopping the wrong CD deck twice count as dropping a bomb?

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 12 June 2005 12:11 (eighteen years ago) link

word. i've been there.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 12 June 2005 12:13 (eighteen years ago) link

That's a bonus. I'm a big fan of DJing mistakes. It adds character.

KeefW (kmw), Sunday, 12 June 2005 12:13 (eighteen years ago) link
