I'd better stop saying I'd better.

Back of St Enoch Centre. Round the corner from where the old 13th Note Club (now Barfly) was. I'm leaving in a couple of minutes, if you name a pub, I can meet you and show you...

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 17 June 2005 18:13 (eighteen years ago) link

Thanks ailsa, I think I know where it is now. See you there.

Cathy (Cathy), Friday, 17 June 2005 18:19 (eighteen years ago) link

Maybe it is doors at 9. I don't know. He just said 9. I hate him.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 17 June 2005 18:39 (eighteen years ago) link

It was doors at 9. I can't be expected to be more specific than that, surely?

I think I kind of had fun. My beard itches.

Ally C (Ally C), Saturday, 18 June 2005 00:09 (eighteen years ago) link

Shave it off then, you skanky bastard. I sort of had fun, but may have had more fun if the Plimptons hadn't been so twattable (are they related to the Hector Collectors?) and I hadn't been almost asleep. And if the telly in Fat Boab's had been showing Big Brother instead of the bloody golf.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 18 June 2005 10:38 (eighteen years ago) link

I enjoyed the Plimptons.

Cathy (Cathy), Saturday, 18 June 2005 10:50 (eighteen years ago) link

OK, I have googled and they are indeed related to the Hector Collectors. I should by rights like the Hector Collectors (and I guess the Plimptons) as they are like a Scottish Half Man Half Biscuit, but I don't. Perhaps I should try harder.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 18 June 2005 11:04 (eighteen years ago) link

I only liked them because I thought they were quite funny. And I like the Adam one, he is cute when he sings. I don't like Half Man Half Biscuit at all.

Cathy (Cathy), Saturday, 18 June 2005 11:21 (eighteen years ago) link

I woke up this morning with a Dot to Dot song in my head (the one where Ally goes "woah woah woah woah woah" a lot). This worries me.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 18 June 2005 11:25 (eighteen years ago) link

Don't worry, everyone wakes up that way eventually.

Ally C (Ally C), Saturday, 18 June 2005 11:54 (eighteen years ago) link

Oh, I forgot to ask you last night if I could get one of your demos please. Who was the bloke taking notes?

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 18 June 2005 11:58 (eighteen years ago) link

Stuart Murdoch.

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 18 June 2005 13:15 (eighteen years ago) link

Is there more dot to dot tonight?

Cathy (Cathy), Sunday, 19 June 2005 16:33 (eighteen years ago) link

Yes, at Nice and Sleazys. I'm not going, as I am v.v. poor and v.v. tired. Are people Drum and Monkeying tomorrow, and at what time?

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 19 June 2005 16:39 (eighteen years ago) link

I am Drumming my Monkey sometime around 7 tomorrow. aldo should arrive shortly afterwards as long as his flight's on time.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Sunday, 19 June 2005 18:52 (eighteen years ago) link

well, i'll come along when i've finished work, which will probably be some time after 8. it'll be good to meet you all (especially after the ATP disappointment in february). i'll be the one with the sideburns and the shabby suit, going up to the wrong group of people and looking like a knob.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Sunday, 19 June 2005 22:08 (eighteen years ago) link

If, by some kind of disaster, I fail to meet Gerry I will be easily recognisable by my Secretly Canadian tshirt. I'm sure it'll be the only one there.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 20 June 2005 10:44 (eighteen years ago) link

Or you could just post one of yer Whovian geekfest pics here...

Onimo (GerryNemo), Monday, 20 June 2005 10:45 (eighteen years ago) link

Or people could look on the Who thread.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 20 June 2005 10:52 (eighteen years ago) link

Are you at work today Gerry? If so, email bridge fuXor3d. Anyway, did you remember my Singing Mechanic CD?

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 20 June 2005 11:03 (eighteen years ago) link

At work, network dead or dying, CD in my bag

Onimo (GerryNemo), Monday, 20 June 2005 11:11 (eighteen years ago) link

I may, or may not, be there around 8-ish.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 20 June 2005 15:41 (eighteen years ago) link

I think I have left my purse at the office and I have no money. If it has been stolen, I need to cancel cards and I'm meant to be paying for my car tomorrow!

I have an offer of cash to tide me over tonight, but it depends on how long it takes me to sort all this out :(

Mädchen (Madchen), Monday, 20 June 2005 16:26 (eighteen years ago) link

The jannie has found my purse! Laters, peeps.

Mädchen (Madchen), Monday, 20 June 2005 16:34 (eighteen years ago) link

I may, or may not, be there around 8-9 ish. I have to try and find somewhere to live first.

Woo purse!

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 20 June 2005 16:34 (eighteen years ago) link

OK, I *will* be there about 8-ish. I have very little money, but have managed to convince the mister to give me a lift to the station and back. Should be able to survive on £10 thereafter, as I seem to remember teh D&M having a cheapo wine list. We should have arranged to go to O'Henrys as that is a £5-bottle-of-wine shop of horror, as I found out to my ruin after my last staff meeting.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 20 June 2005 16:40 (eighteen years ago) link

wine? oh fuck.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Monday, 20 June 2005 16:42 (eighteen years ago) link

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Monday, 20 June 2005 21:35 (eighteen years ago) link

i booked a flight to Glasgow today.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Monday, 20 June 2005 21:43 (eighteen years ago) link

Ooh, now I remember why I don't go to the pub on a schoolnight any more. And I didn't actually drink that much. It was excellent to meet aldo and grimly fiendish (going to up to a table of strangers in a pub and saying "are you ILX, I'm grimly fiendish" is the best thing I've heard for a long time), and I suppose it was OK to see the rest of you mob as well :)

I cannot get a decent night's sleep after booze on a schoolnight, I always fear I'm going to sleep in and miss work, so I just don't sleep properly. Result = knackeredness disguised as a hangover.

Well done on giving up smoking boys!

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 21 June 2005 05:19 (eighteen years ago) link

Glad you had a good time, Ailsa. You should be careful though; there are lots of bloody weirdos on the internet.

KeefW (kmw), Tuesday, 21 June 2005 06:29 (eighteen years ago) link

Sorry I couldn't make it. Stevem - when are you coming here?

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 21 June 2005 07:04 (eighteen years ago) link

Made it in to work at 9.55. Feeling surprisingly chipper tbh - having to leave for the last train is a blessing in disguise. It was nice to see everyone again and to meet grimly fiendish, who was neither grim nor fiendish but did have a devilish line in facial hair.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 21 June 2005 08:02 (eighteen years ago) link

Well done on giving up smoking boys!

gaaaaAAAAAaaah. plums. arses. etc.

absolutely fantastic to meet you all (including the brief cameo by mr ailsa at the end): it was a top night. i feel better this morning than i have any right to; i'm still expecting some kind of delayed-hangover action to kick in.

looking forward to doing it all over again in two weeks, only a) for two nights, and b) with added ned.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Tuesday, 21 June 2005 08:19 (eighteen years ago) link

I got up at 6.30 this morning to put clear my back bedroom for the workmen who arrived at 8.00. My dustsheet laying could have been neater. I feel very six hours sleepish now. Still, all this is good practice for the forthcoming schoolnight nedfap.

RJG, those endings are beautifully matched.

I had help

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 21 June 2005 14:48 (eighteen years ago) link

I suspected as much.

Mädchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 21 June 2005 15:00 (eighteen years ago) link

Hello Glasgow. Me and Steve will be coming to visit you lot on the July of 22nd, and leaving you on the 25th the July. We wouldn’t mind being ‘put up’, in fact our budgets demand it. We will, of course, shower you. With nice things.

Raston Warrior Robot (alix), Tuesday, 21 June 2005 15:19 (eighteen years ago) link

That sounds weird. Don't use it.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 21 June 2005 15:32 (eighteen years ago) link

Isn't 148 going to be out of action? I could provide accommodation, but I am, shall we say, not terribly central. I'm sure someone will offer something better.

The knackeredness disguised as hangover mutated into a hangover somewhere around eleven o'clock. I therefore made the wise move today of booking a day of annual leave the day after the Ned/Dot to Dot summit.

Madchen may have been misleading you all with the two weeks till NedFAP line she was peddling last night. Too much IPA young lady, it's definitely three weeks.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 21 June 2005 15:48 (eighteen years ago) link

my hangover still hasn't kicked in. this means i'm either a) rock or b) on the fast track to alcoholism. or, perhaps, c) still pissed.

and yes, you're right: it's definitely three weeks till nedFAP. which is just as well because next week i have a two-night pan-scotland booze marathon, and no time off work. my poor liver needs all the rest it can get.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Tuesday, 21 June 2005 16:16 (eighteen years ago) link

How many times did ailsa say "I didn't think anybody read what I posted"?

Anyway, it was grebt (I can't believe I managed to pronounce that) to meet you all. I will be Trying Glasgow More again in the summer, I suspect, after today's meeting.

I wasn't hung over at all. I put this down to alcoholism.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 21 June 2005 17:54 (eighteen years ago) link

Oh no! I can't believe people remember what I say in the pub!

Haha, I totally forgot about "grebt". I also put this down to alcoholism.

I still remain staggered that there exists an ILXor who doesn't know who Ned is (even though his doppelganger was at the bar). Three weeks time, this will be put to rights, I'm sure.

Can we not pick the D&M next time - bar staff far too insistent on observing drinking up times, rubbish seating arrangements, Escheresque path to the ladies loo. Also proximity to station = I don't need to leave just yet to get the train --> oops I missed the train.
