I technically have a half day today, which means that I could conceivably leave in 30 minutes, but I think I'm going to stick around to finish the task I'm working on.

jenny, thank you for answering my american flag question

Silky Slim (dan m), Monday, 9 April 2012 18:59 (twelve years ago) link

You're welcome. I hope that helped in whatever your endeavors happened to be at that time.

carl agatha, Monday, 9 April 2012 19:13 (twelve years ago) link

If you want to see it, look up Ursula Martinez Hanky Panky. It's not a flag, though. It's a scarf.

carl agatha, Monday, 9 April 2012 19:28 (twelve years ago) link

I seem to recall discussing the video on ILX and that discussion evolving into jokes about pulling an American Flag out of our downstairs orifices. Although really, that's where like 90% of our discussions end up.

carl agatha, Monday, 9 April 2012 19:29 (twelve years ago) link

*pulls American flag out of butt*

carl agatha, Monday, 9 April 2012 19:29 (twelve years ago) link

yeah I totally thought it was the butt. I even searched my email on my phone and found a conversation from 2006 where I was telling T0mas about the upcoming performance.

Silky Slim (dan m), Monday, 9 April 2012 20:05 (twelve years ago) link

Hahaha

I tried to find the conversation but I'm bad at ILX searching. Maybe John can help.

It's okay to search "woman pulls scarf from vagina" at your work, right John?

I have no idea what you guys are talking about.

I wish there was a tumblr with pictures of Chicago in the future.

I wish my dogs would learn how to clean up after themselves/use a vacuum and earn their keep around here a little bit.

Oh man, I had just been thinking about how I wanted to remember some of the crazy shit the reeeeeediculous NOLA intern said and I found a ton of them by searching for AMEDB (African-Methodist Episcopalean Dumb B.). This is a nice example.

"I thought Jesus was a carpenter"

"He was"

"But he couldn't have been a carpenter; carpet wasn't invented yet!"

-Exchange between me and the AMEDB

man I am not too into going back and reading what 2006 me had to say on this thing

Silky Slim (dan m), Monday, 9 April 2012 23:47 (twelve years ago) link

I read through some of the thread and you comported yourself with dignity, intelligence, and grace.

There was a conversation about how we'd never get rid of Mayor Daley, which just goes to show you. Never say never get rid of Mayor Daley.

carl agatha, Monday, 9 April 2012 23:55 (twelve years ago) link

I enjoyed re-reading that thread. I really need to keep a journal.

But this is far better than a journal b/c it's a log of everyone's thoughts.

Spent a good hour or so in the stained glass museum in Navy Pier. Had no idea it was there! Plus, it's pretty much completely empty because no one cares about stained glass.

tanuki, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 01:56 (twelve years ago) link

I've been there -- it's beauuuuuutiful!

two overweight dachshunds with three eyes (La Lechera), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 02:11 (twelve years ago) link

I knew you'd like it! Pretty things.

tanuki, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 02:46 (twelve years ago) link

I like to look at pretty things, it's true.

You guys, have I already talked your ears off about The Runnies?

Listen to "Ghost" for a weeper or "Easy" for a rocker

(seriously though, every song is good. v v recommended! and free!)

I'm glad you found music you love and I may listen to them sometime but I can't listen to music at work, so all I can really say at this time is "The Runnies"????

yeah i love that stained glass museum, so much cool stuff. one of the only things that makes a trip to navy pier tolerable.

I am really loving the Chicago Past Tumblr. Who ever thought having two right angles on an expressway was a good idea? As seen here: http://chicagopast.tumblr.com/post/20235555363/more-information (pic to hueg to post here)

Jesse, it's not just that I like it -- I think people itt would like it in particular. I spare you guys most of the time!
I have no idea about the name, but they are organ trio that plays baaaaadass rock music self-described as freaky deaky.

that chicago past tumblr is terrifice, i like that the layout is really simple, but they often do provide links to more information without cluttering up the tumblr itself.

Chicago History website: ...the Link Bridge...officially opened on October 5, 1937...While the bridge eased congestion on Michigan Avenue, the roadway's sharp angles immediately proved to be a problem. A little before 3 a.m. on October 8, two different northbound drivers were the first of many who failed to negotiate the turns and suffered an accident. This hazard was not finally corrected until the completion of the current S-curve in 1986.

i love it when i find out about cool local bands. remember a couple of months ago when there was that blog post going around by the doorman at danny's, about how people should not be dicks when trying to get into danny's? turns out he's the singer of fake limbs, the local band i was praising on facebook last week - he also manages electrical audio.

I am not proud to admit that in the past I have gotten behind the wheel in no condition to drive but I have never misjudged which side of the road I am supposed to be on, it just blows my mind how people do this

xp hahaha

Silky Slim (dan m), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 18:53 (twelve years ago) link

I've turned the wrong way down one way streets stone cold sober.

Jeff, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 19:08 (twelve years ago) link

I've turned onto up the wrong side of a divided 4-lane highway due to inadequate signage + fog. That was scary but funny. No alcohol involved since that was before I drank. It was late and there was no traffic, so I kept driving the wrong way until I came to a break in the median.
