chapter six: fucking making straight up decisions now, dude. as my epic comeback nears its zenith, I can't help but look back at the low times when there was no hope or light. there's an old expression that's got at me through the dark valleys and hazy cul-de-sacs of life: nut up or sack up. it means when life gets you all swirly and thought-ridden, shut it out. let the two spherical sperm factories underneath your dick take over. they don't think, they don't get confused. they churn and attack. and in moments of doubt, my default setting is always to attack, whether it be a hitter or an ump or a loved one who has stepped out of line. not everyone can achieve their dreams in this world. that's because most people have things like feelings and sentimental attachments, nagging shit that keeps them from making the tough decisions that are necessary to get to the ultimate top. unfortunately, in the rocket ship of fame there's only room for one. any added baggage will just weigh you down, hold you back from shooting for the fucking stars. blast off bitch.

going to be so sad when this ends next week :(

I don't know a lot of people who've been super into this show this season, but I genuinely think it's been one of the most unique and accomplished pieces of TV ever. Like, for real.

Seems to be getting better each episode to me.

Disjointed at times but the characters make up for it.

Sad to see it go just as I was really getting into it.

no way he's going to the majors and well a dude who makes a toddler toy by shoving a vibrator up the butt of a t-rex will never be a major league dad BUT he will live in denial of it all as long as he keeps the mullet and boogie board :D

yeah, there are about a handful of decent laughs, but you've gotta sit through a lot of crap to get to them

Not sure why the vibrator/dinosaur combo is bad parenting? it was pretty cool and probably a lot safer than some of the electrified toys I used to have.

Looking forward to tonight but sad it's all over.

i legit teared up twice during this episode. such a great show.

Kenny's genuine shock when he heard he was being called up ("You gotta be shitting me") before he got back in character felt like a long-awaited payoff.

totally-- its really amazing how sincere and real McBride can play such an over the top character, such a shame he can't do it any more

I wept during the ending of this. This season was genuinely deep and beautiful.

Just watched the whole run of this show for the first time. Pretty good, but I'm not 100% sure I get it. Some of KP's speeches are funny, lots of the serious moments and stuff are genuinely touching.

But then you have Will Ferrel stepping in and just being obnoxious. I'm sorry, I just really have grown to loathe him. He's not funny, he just gets by on silly voices and calculated wackiness. He's a bullshit unfunny comedy mogul like Adam Sandler, only maybe more pretentious.

This show was fun to watch, but it felt like it really had a lot of ideas packed into a short space. The tone would be serious and genuinely affecting, meaningful montages happening, and then we'd be stuck watching Ferrel pull out some dusty sub-SNL southern redneck stereotype, requisite gross-out humor intact.

Kind of wish KP had stayed in Mexico a little longer and developed with the team down there (the coach there was my favorite character), and I kind of wish there was more reality calling him out for basically acting like a spoiled baby. But yeah I guess that's the point, he's sort of an anti-hero. A huge baby who always goes on about how big a man he is but can't handle anything. The very last episode at least redeemed the character.

I read an interview with McBride where he talked about Jody Hill and David Gordon Green having such different styles, that they would just write to fit their strengths (or something to that effect), which is there can be some tonal differences (i.e. Ferrell's rich buddies firing cannons at KP).

Also that stupid wig WF had on. It was a "Look at how wacky I am wearing this wig!" wig.

Prob hard for the writers to say no to Ferrell though, being a producer and all.

I agree that his style of comedy (over the top, overplaying) is at odds with McBride, who tended to truly inhabit the soul of KP.

Well at times it felt like the KP character could basically have been played by WF and it would be right up his alley. But far less subtlety.

HBO has picked up a 4th season.
