expo line opens on april 28th! free rides on opening weekend -- although i did the gold line extension's opening day a couple years ago and that was a clusterfuck. but still, rail service from downtown to culver city! and then eventually santa monica!

Pretty sure I have been there, and it is good, but been so long I don't remember the exact dishes I tried. I went with the LA Asian Foodies Meetup group, which I recommend for finding restaurants. Most events are in the San Gabriel Valley, Little Tokyo, and Koreatown.

Liked seeing the different geographies in my Twitter stream light up as the tow truck chase went through Hollywood, and then Glendale

so, shows!

- anyone go to those dead c tribute shows?

- made mental note weeks ago to buy school of seven bells tickets, totally slipped my mind :/

- think bf and i are going to psychic friend on friday (will schwartz from imperial teen's new project) and next week i see demdike stare is at los globos...

- anyone go to those dead c tribute shows?

Yes! It was great. You should have gone. Etc.

Fave musical part was Barbara Manning channeling Neil Young's "Arc" guitar sound. Fave part was the Dunedin pub built from scratch specifically for the show. The pho place next door was also noteworthy.

This may have been my favorite show of the week.

b) is may 19th good? that's a saturday.

get wolves (get bent), Monday, 7 May 2012 19:00 (eleven years ago) link

next weekend would be better for me to serenade you all with my voice of death.

Hellhamster 2: Hamster Smashed Face (J3ff T.), Monday, 7 May 2012 19:51 (eleven years ago) link

And that would be a vision.

I could not do karaoke, however! Earlier on the 19th I will be in town for the Will Sergeant exhibition:

http://www.willsergeant.com/

As noted he's at the gallery both on the 18th and 19th; our OC bunch is doing the 19th one as it's better for our schedule.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 7 May 2012 19:56 (eleven years ago) link

I'll be at the opening on the 18th (works better for my schedule). It's a cool gallery, same place the Natty Brooker/SP3 art exhibition was a couple years ago.

I'll be there.

Conflicting shows tonight though. I really want to go see Stan Ridgway out at Pappy & Harriets. I also want to see White Hills at the Echo and Devo too of course, but I have to go to LAX tonight and so Devo it is.

Vini Reilly Invasion (Elvis Telecom), Saturday, 12 May 2012 00:45 (eleven years ago) link

Also, the Arclight Hollywood is showing Barry Lyndon in the Cinerama Dome tonight, tomorrow and Tuesday. Thinking of going on Tuesday.

On Saturday, the Institute For Figuring is having an open house at their space in Chinatown: http://blogs.laweekly.com/arts/2012/05/institute_for_figuring_math_science.php

Anyone else going to BJM tomorrow?

Vini Reilly Invasion (Elvis Telecom), Saturday, 12 May 2012 00:55 (eleven years ago) link

i'm still down for karaoke -- it seemed like both this weekend (which vik was bullish on) and next were bad for people. would saturday the 26th be any good? or friday the 25th?

get wolves (get bent), Saturday, 12 May 2012 01:00 (eleven years ago) link

not actually going to DEVO (computer keeps wanting to change this to "deco") tonight

i saw MEN (jd samson's band, not THE men on sacred bones) at echoplex last night, they were fun

think last weekend of may would be better for me overall for karaoke

madame boo berry (donna rouge), Saturday, 12 May 2012 01:07 (eleven years ago) link
