Eric Roberts, Robert Patrick, Wes Bentley, Bobby Cannavale, Chris Noth all appropriately skeevy for playing 1970s porn biz/mafia dudes. Hank Azaria, not so much. Wilmer Valderrama apparently unavailable.

one year passes...

The Times of Harvey Milk and The Celluloid Closet are so good that, measured against them, Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman's Lovelace is somewhat ordinary. It's done with some restraint and feeling, though, and isn't nearly as lurid as Star 80. The last 10-15 minutes are especially good.

When I took it out of the library this afternoon, the woman checking it out initially seemed to have a problem, like there was no record of it on the computer. I thought she was going to call over another librarian and we were going to re-enact the newsstand scene from Bananas.

(xpost) It's hard to say...There's a scene towards the end, where Traynor hands Lovelace over to five or six guys for something we don't see (first waving a gun in her face), and if you're familiar with that story, I interpreted it to be that.
