Lancel's Kablooie is mentioned explicitly on the book jacket of Book 3, figured it was fair game

youre making it worse, MODS PLEASE DELETE LAST HALF OF THREAD AND BAN POXEN
― max, Wednesday, 16 May 2012 16:48 (eleven years ago) link
but for serious if you're looking for a spoiler-free experience you should just turn off the internet entirely
there is a GoT dictionary (i think, or maybe wiki) that does not spoil anything that hasn't happened in the series so far that i've been safely using the dozen or so times a week when I forget who's who or whatever. it's usually the first or second hit when i google the info i want. there's a lot of people tuning into watch this tv show who have not taken the time to read the half-dozen books and many GoT-related sites, that I've seen, seem to respect that fact. THIS thread is the only place where I have had stuff spoiled (and it wasn't too serious so I didn't really get bent out of shape).
i don't think it's asking too much to let us illiterate common folk speculate here, content to be in the dark about what happens next; and take the "I can't wait 'till XXX spoiler lizard monster kills yadda yadda" talk to the book thread or some other spoilerfest thread.

Our GoT watching gang includes only 1 person out of 6 who hasn't read the books, and to boot she is someone who gets rly worried/anxious about things. It's so hard not to mercy-spoil when she's like (e.g. most recent ep) 'NO IS JON SNOW GONNA DIE?' 'DID HE KILL BRAN?'
― Hierophantiasis (Jon Lewis), Wednesday, 16 May 2012 17:06 (eleven years ago) link
Stock answer is (serenely) 'you'll just have to turn in for next week's all-new A GAME OF THRONES, lisa'

TUNE in
my group is split 50/50 - but as soon as pot enters the equation my one friend start absentmindedly entering the spoiler zone of doom (doom because i pummel him).
'DID HE KILL BRAN?'and yes - this is the question that led me to intentionally spoilering it myself!
― Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 16 May 2012 17:10 (eleven years ago) link
Would be disappointed if Bran were to actually be dead because in retrospect it would've been handled so poorly.

wait your friends name is LISA? [end spoiler]

you realize that you guys have now effectively spoiled the "is bran dead?" question. i mean, i figured he wasn't, and i expect any sensible viewer would figure the same, but please, for god's sake, stop responding here if you've read the books and can't keep a tight lid on what you know.

I don't think anyone has confirmed anything?
― Fas Ro Duh (Gukbe), Wednesday, 16 May 2012 17:39 (eleven years ago) link
i think contenderizer is referring to that fact that l******'s k******* would never happen if bran were still alive
― max, Wednesday, 16 May 2012 17:44 (eleven years ago) link
jon lewis, whom i love:
It's so hard not to mercy-spoil when she's like (e.g. most recent ep) 'NO IS JON SNOW GONNA DIE?' 'DID HE KILL BRAN?'
makes pretty clear what's not being said

huh
― max, Wednesday, 16 May 2012 17:45 (eleven years ago) link
yeah I don't know what you're reading into that
― Fas Ro Duh (Gukbe), Wednesday, 16 May 2012 17:47 (eleven years ago) link
uh, well it wouldn't really be a "mercy" spoil if either of these things were true
― The term or title antichrist, in Christian theology, refers to (contenderizer), Wednesday, 16 May 2012 17:48 (eleven years ago) link
"oh don't worry babe, they're dead alright!"
― polyphonic, Wednesday, 16 May 2012 17:49 (eleven years ago) link
mercy spoil helps the worrier feel better, e.g., "no, don't worry, he isn't dead."
― The term or title antichrist, in Christian theology, refers to (contenderizer), Wednesday, 16 May 2012 17:49 (eleven years ago) link
lol xp
no, a 'mercy spoil' just puts someone out of the misery of being anxious and worried about the outcome.
― Fas Ro Duh (Gukbe), Wednesday, 16 May 2012 17:50 (eleven years ago) link
that's how i read it.
― Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 16 May 2012 17:50 (eleven years ago) link
i just kind of wish book people would confine themselves to the spoiler thread. that way us illiterates could speculate blissfully, without any suggestion that the road ahead even exists.

JUST READ THE FUCKING BOOKS
― max, Wednesday, 16 May 2012 17:51 (eleven years ago) link
JUST GO POST IN THE OTHER THREAD see I can post in all caps too!
― polyphonic, Wednesday, 16 May 2012 17:52 (eleven years ago) link
I CAN'T READ! there. i said it. i hope your'e happy.
― The term or title antichrist, in Christian theology, refers to (contenderizer), Wednesday, 16 May 2012 17:53 (eleven years ago) link
TBH the road ahead exists less and less for book people, too, as the show increasingly goes its own route. But I will police myself carefully.
― Hierophantiasis (Jon Lewis), Wednesday, 16 May 2012 17:53 (eleven years ago) link
no, sorry, i will post in any thread i want
― max, Wednesday, 16 May 2012 17:53 (eleven years ago) link
contenderizers secret shame
and guess what, you cant do anything about it, because if you keep whining i will start posting tons of spoilers
yeah just like... before posting in this thread ask yourself "could i have written this post if the books didn't exist?" and if the answer is no, go post it in the other thread
― ciderpress, Wednesday, 16 May 2012 17:55 (eleven years ago) link
Nobody has spoiled anything at all about Bran. We're all cool guys, let's put away these spoiler threats. We're all a bunch of Fonzies.
― Fas Ro Duh (Gukbe), Wednesday, 16 May 2012 17:56 (eleven years ago) link
i'm actually dyslexic so reading can be ridiculously difficult at times and time consuming. i work a fuck load and already have two books on the go (one has taken me a year and a half to get to the point of being almost done). so when i read sentiments like "JUST READ THE FUCKING BOOKS" it seriously makes me want to hulk out and smash the shit out of some assholes smug fuck face.

― max, Wednesday, 16 May 2012 18:03 (eleven years ago) link
can you just email the spoilers directly to contenderizer then pretty please
― polyphonic, Wednesday, 16 May 2012 18:03 (eleven years ago) link
I am in the limbo-like position of having read far beyond the show, but not yet up to the current end of the books, so where am I supposed to meet my posting needs huh?

i think it's a reasonable request (not that book people have to go away, just that it'd be nice if they followed ciderpress' advice). and there's no reason for anyone to get huffy about it.

i apologize for fantasizing about a world without book people

it's too late. i've turned green and torn all my cloths off.
