You guys are so cool! Phil is my friend who is visiting me here in Colorado. He asked me to post what I know, but he does NOT work for that company. He just thought it was funny that everyone on the post was basically shooting it down, and none of them had even gone to the presentation. It is not free to use their service either.

I just got one of those post cards today, and I think it's a scam...no matter what people say about it. I'm going to do some quick research, I saw a link online that mentioned NDI Redemption Center was a scam, so I'll check that out. It all sounds too good to be true.

H. H., Wednesday, 10 March 2004 21:51 (twenty years ago) link

OK, here is the link to the website with NDI Redemption Center listed as a scam: "Harold's List of Scams" http://www.msu.edu/~huntharo/scams/ndi/ There is a link on that page to an article about NDI, and there is a picture of the actual postcard...notice the stamp...that's the same exact stamp that was on mine, and if I remember correctly, the postcard in the picture is dated 2002...maybe 2003.
See for yourselves.

H.H., Wednesday, 10 March 2004 22:01 (twenty years ago) link

I received a card recently and went to the presentation in Austin, TX. I won a 8 day, 7 night condo, its not completely free, you still have to pay $49.00, but thats it. The service seems to be pretty legitimate, although it is 1500 to sign up.

Hope that helps coming from someone who actually went to the presentation.

Stephen, Tuesday, 23 March 2004 01:31 (twenty years ago) link

Valdosta, Ga here. I just got a shiny new card in the mail, with a real stamp and a postmark and everything. Instead of calling them, I think I may frame it (I don't get much mail)...although the possibilities are endless....anyway, thanks for the info, guys.

That's all, really.

dave225 (Dave225), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 18:04 (twenty years ago) link

Add Macomb, Illinois to the list. I went to the meeting. I DID NOT research it on-line. I paid for the membership like the dumb-ass that I can be. I spent a couple of days "experimenting" with their service, but every corner had another added fee or some other sort of obstacle. Now I have looked at other people's oppinions on-line and have found nothing to the positive (except for Phil and Tara who obviously work for the company). Even the Sex change, MTF
(NDI DELIVERED = $750) ended up being located in the Australian outback (transportation not included). So, I sent in my cancellation notice today (within three days like they asked for). I have read about other people having a hard time getting the company to honor their cancelation. I will post again when I see what happens.

Chap Harbecke, Saturday, 27 March 2004 19:04 (twenty years ago) link

I just got one in the mail today. I did a goodle search and the pictures on the first site looked like the exact card...same stamp and everything. I'm in waco tx... i'm not going.. last time I went to one of these scams was from winning something at a bridal extravaganza and said it was no more than 90 minutes.. I stayed there for 3 hours! they stood by the door and didn't let anyone out.

Ann Le, Sunday, 28 March 2004 18:17 (twenty years ago) link

Yeah I just got one of these in San Marcos, TX. I called right away and when someone says free stuff there is no such thing as free so I decided to research it online. This is so much crap it sounds like. That picture on that site is exactly like mine and that picture was taken 2 years ago. They don't even make the same stamps today that they made 2 years ago so obviously the company bought millions of them years ago and they are lucky a postage stamp is still 23 cents. I told the company I was going but there is no way in hell I am. I am way too busy and I certainly don't have 1500 dollars to spend on some crappy service that I don't have the money to buy anything from anyway. I'm a poor college student and this whole thing is annoying and rediculous.

Wow, I just received one in the Atlanta area. I guess the Texas crowd feels that as a "transplanted" Johnny Reb I'm smart enough to buy from them. I was wondering where I could get a good deal on some cotton seeds cause I want to plant something in my back yard that looks pretty but dogwood trees have been suffering blight in this area.

Or maybe since the center is in TX, they can help me with a lifetime supply of "Texas Pete" hot sauce for only $1,500 plus product cost?

If they're legit, let me know immediately (or sooner if you can get the time machine started.) I've only got 23 hours and 42 minutes left on my "Please call" limit.

Thanks for the thread. It saved me from helping some pushy salesman learn what his mother does for a living.

Looks like they're sending them to the Daytona Beach area, too. I hate people who send me spam mail...especially since they bought my info from SOMEONE who should be tortured until they finally get the answers as to how the products will help inflammed hemorroids. And then tortured more.

Hey guys, I got one of the post cards as well here at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. I had a blonde moment and got excited and called the number. I am signed up to go tonight at 9:30. I even told the lady who answered the phone that this sounded too good to be true and she replied back with "well, yeah...we get that alot (laugh)." This may sound dumb...but I'm kinda torn b/c I really want to win something. But if this is all a scam (which it prob. is) I don't want to go. I don't see how they can charge you anything unless you give them a credit card number. They also want me to bring my drivers license. I'm kinda worried about goin...I think I might ask a guy friend to go b/c I don't think they would harrass a man like they would a chick. Please reply and give me some advice.
P.S. the email is not my real email..so just reply back with comments please. Thanks!

Yep, just got mine today (Atlanta, GA).

The postcard is dated 1989! Interestingly, it came with another shady-looking money magnet letter. It's from "Saint Matthews Churches" (Scam Report: http://www.loper.org/~george/trends/2003/Apr/815.html) and seems to prey on the faithful's wallets. I guess these things like traveling together :D.

Yo, Peepps, sup? Welll\ since I talked at ya'll I had some bad news. Darlene saw that stuff abouy her sister and shit om me bad. Man I was sleeping in the storage shed fo' ever until I went to that meeting. IT ROCKED> I mean I am going to get big discounts on all kinds of shit now! Like I can get a wine rack for only like $9.00 and it would be 75.00 in a store. It will hold really big bottles, too. I'm hoping that D. is impressed by this and the leather chairs I will get too. She hasn't spoken to me for along time now and I got some kind of sick when I saw her at the Kum and Go. Shewas reading magizines and talking to Marlene and acted like she didn't even see me. Marelne did tho and she looked HOTTT! butt I didn't even smile at her because I was to sick thinking about what happenwd and all. Well soon my $1550 check will clear and I am looking foward to starting to be able to get a good deal on some good shit and I will get my life on track. I can't wait! BTW my hair is growing back where I burned it and shit, but then I cut the top of my foot off when i was mowing D.'s Mom's yard. It didn't hurt much since I was real drunk when it happened, now it does tho.

Hey, all, I just got the postcard in the mail (Springfield, MO). I'm just curious now, b/c I've heard of all these people who've gotten them and didn't go, or those who claimed they were going and would post about it, but never followed through with it. I'm going tomorrow at 4, and will not buy anything (seriously, I have to "donate" plasma to afford my beer at this point, no way can I sign up for some $1000 club!). Will try to remember to let you all know how it goes

I'm gonna go to that stupid meeting tomorrow and before they feed me any b.s., I'm gonna tell them to show me my prize and let me hold it before I hear any fuckin presentation! And I'm not gonna give them any money or sign up for anything, since that guy on the phone said there are no obligations. If they don't give me my home computer, condo package, or whatever the hell it is, then I'll just tell them to suck my balls and rip up his stupid presentation material

My husband signed up for this before he met me. I would have talked him out of doing it, because it has all the markings of a scam. I have to admit though, he did get a great price on a trip to florida and his dad saved about $1000 while remodeling his house. I'm still not convinced we'll get enough out of it to ever make it worth the money, but he's already paid too much on it to be worth trying to back out.

It's not a "take your money and run" scam, but you have to buy a lot of stuff through their service to make it worth what they charge.

I am just wondering how it can be verified that I call within 24 hours after receiving this card. Card which btw seems to have been stored asif it really is the treasure they hold it out to be (must have been printed a while ago and still didn t turn yellow!).
I can understand NDI would prefer not to hold a meeting everyday in a town like Gainesville, FL and would therefore set a time limit, but this is a very cheap way of doing it. But that seems to be this company's key competency! CHEAPNESS
Liked the comment about the Cocoamotion by Mr. Coffee...even more creative than this marketing campaign! (and that s difficult!)

Enjoy the cheap stuff people! Give NDI another quarter of a century!

one month passes...
I received the infamous card in the mail yesterday, and attended a presentation today. The only actually "free" thing I received was a 3-day / 2 night stay at any holiday inn express.... not bad for attending a presentation. I did "win" the bahamas trip, but apparently this deal is available to the public as well (it's not a FREE trip)... Anyway, since there is a 7-day cancellation policy at no obligation (even your down payment is refunded) and their deal was "only valid for one day" I signed up just to still have the option of joining after consulting my parents... I gave them everything... debit card #, SS# (for the credit APP), etc... THEN, I came home and researched the company. After reading the reviews here, I decided to go back and cancel in person (since some posts say there have been issues with cancellation). The presenter gave me back my filled-out forms although he had already submitted my name/address/phone# over the internet earlier. He assured me that my social security # and debit card# hadn't been submitted at all. Anyway, he gave me all copies of the forms back and seemed very cooperative. He even signed a document I had handwritten stating that he would cancel my membership immediately. All that remains (just for EXTRA EXTRA measure) is to snail-mail the cancellation request and request delivery confirmation. IF YOU ARE CANCELLING THIS MEMBERSHIP, BE SURE TO REQUEST DELIVERY CONFIRMATION FROM THE POST OFFICE. This probably isn't a scam, but since they had my SS# and CC# and I'm paranoid I didn't want to wait and find out. Plus, who wants to pay $38/mo for 5 years while they're in college?

Anyway, I'm sure there would have been a great deal of hidden fees if I were to try to take advantage of their services. Most products I searched for didn't actually have much discount, to tell you the truth... Oh, and by the way, you have to be a member just to CHECK prices... Ok, you've all had enough. Hope this helps.

They've managed to make their way up to Duluth, MN. My girlfriend's roommates got one a few days ago, and one of them signed up last night. I got a postcard in the mail today and happened to ask one if they had too. She said "yeah, 'Jodie' and I went last night and she signed up for it." Well, after finding out that this whole thing is a scam, 'Jodie' is frantically trying to cancel her membership. After reading this page and several other sites about this company, I'd say toss anything you get from them in the trash.

Just got a postcard here at Notre Dame. Actually, they sent it to the girl who used to live here. She doesn't have time to go and I showed her this site too but I'll be going. I did tell her about the hotel.

Not taking any credit card with me my cousin signed for this kind of thing last year

Since the bus goes there anyway and hey, maybe I could get a stay at the Holiday Inn so I'll go. Is there some kind of raffle or something. The rep says more people go to the 2pm vs. 11 am session so if there is a raffle I'll make the effort to wake up for the 11 am session. If someone who went to the meeting (I swear I won't sign up for anything) could email me and tell me if there is a raffle, that would be great. Thanks

Now you see, you are all just being so negative. For some of us, purchasing an NDI membership has been a wonderful experience, and I am very happy that I got "duped" into making this purchase.

At first I was upset that I made this purchase, but then just a month after I purchased my membership, a friend of mine said, "Let's go to Vegas!" Well, through my membership we were able to book a big ass room for six people for something like $400 for the week. So, for the week in Vegas all of us paid only $70 each. Then, when I got married my wife and I were able to go on a crazy awesome honeymoon - one week on the beach in Miami ($200 for the room for the week) followed by one week on the beach in the Virgin Islands ($200 for the room for the week) followed by a week on the beach in Cancun ($200 for the room for the week). On that trip alone, the hotels we stayed at in Miami and the Virgin Islands were $150/night, so we saved $1600 there and our hotel was regularly $100/night in Cancun, so we saved $500 there. All told, just in hotel rooms on our honeymoon we saved $2100, which more than covered our $1500 membership fee.

This past year, over Christmas break, we again spent a week on the beach in Miami (same hotel, same $800 savings for the week), followed by a week in Orlando ($200 for the week) at a place that usually costs $100/night (for another $500 savings for the week). Thus, on our trip this past winter, we saved anther $1300. Looks like we're at a total of $3400 saved, for only our $1500 membership.

What's the matter? Don't believe me that it really is possible to get a quality hotel room at a good price? Just check out the company's website for yourself - www.networkdirect.com and click on the "Expressways" link. Alternatively you can use this link:

You will never stay at a five-star hotel through NDI, but they will put you in a quality hotel in a prime vacation spot for very little money. The listings for their expressways are pretty slim as of today (because it's the middle of the summer and prime vacation time), but check back in the middle of the fall or in the spring and they'll often have 15 to 20 pages of these week long resort stays available for only $200-$300.

In addition to the money I've saved myself, I've used my membership to get a room in Hawaii for my parents, reserved a room at a good price for a friend and his wife who when they went to France, and got a free hotel room for a week in Solana Beach, California.

This last part is something that has been forgotten by almost everyone that has been bitching about wasting their money on an NDI membership - when you buy your membership (for $1200 or $1500 or whatever you spent - I spent $1500) they give you a coupon that is good for a free week at any of their resorts. How many of those people who bitched even bothered to remember to use their free week of vacation? I bought my membership more than two years ago, and I have two things to say about the membership:

1) I love having the membership

and

2) the membership is only worthwhile if you have money and buy expensive things/travel

If you plan on being a broke-ass college student for your whole life, don't buy a membership. If you plan on making your first million by the time you're out of your out of your twenties (and don't tell me it can't be done - here are a just a handful of jobs in which you can make hundreds of thousands a year at a young age: stockbroker, mortgage broker, investment banker, entrepreneur, currency trader - there are so many jobs out there that will let a person who is motivated make a ton of money, but most people don't have the guts to take a risk. When I finished my MBA I got the lowest paying job in my entire graduating class $12K a year (all my classmates were laughing at me like crazy) to be a stockbroker. In no time I was making $20K a MONTH, and I've now moved to investment banking where I have a base salary in excess of $400K with bonuses that usually outweigh my base salary. Not bad for someone who finished last in his class as a graduate and an undergrad at state school).

I'm going to quit my job and become an "entrepreneur."

I'd stay in nice hotels with that kind of salary. I also wouldn't go to fucking Miami.

Well, shit I wanted to be a millionaire too. Where do I sign up?

These things are showing up now here in Carson, MD (go Owls!) and I was ready to throw mine in the trash, but I gave it a shot and this thing is 100% for real. How am I doing so far? 2 free laptops and a beachfront condo for my mom. You cannot beat this shit!

it does seem odd that someone making $800k+/yr would be honeymooning in cancun and miami. different strokes i guess.

Yeah guy, your annual salary of ~$800,000 is about $2190 a day, so subtract that from your NDI savings of $3400 and you've only saved $1210. :(

five months pass...
I hope if you are in N.C. and you got one of these postcards, you read this thread. I called and was going to go, but I agree with the last few above...if that "Giovanni" guy makes that much $, he wouldn't need to be involved in this in the first place and also wouldn't mind splurging on a 4 star hotel for a honeymoon, which he even admits you cannot get from this NDI crap. I am definitely not going now.

one month passes...
Well, they made it to Purdue. That's in indiana, the land of corn. My buddy went the night before, and he 'won' an ipod shuffle. There wasn't a legit raffle, he had his powerpoint already loaded, with claim no. already listed for different prizes. He claimed that they send it to 'only 2500 or so of upperclassman, of the 10s of thousands..." I live in a frat, and 4 of us got 'em. As for the ipod, who knows, they said that it would be mailed to him. We'll see what happens, and if i remember, i'll post up here. I 'won' the 3day/2night cruise...for having a claim no. ending with an even number. Odds got the holiday in stay..which i'd say is more useful. some girl got the 8/7 vacation. Yes, there were definitely 2 guys and 5 girls. Three of these girls signed up...even one that stated she's cruisin spring break for 650...what a dolt. She already got a sweet price, and she signed up for it.
They talk about a lowest price garauntee, in 30, if you see it lower...anywhere...get proof of the price, and they'll double the diff...
I'd have to say, if you've got the means, you like to travel for cheap, and will be furnishing a new place...then yeah, you might make it out saving a little cash. 80 bucks a year isn't bad once you got a job...but it better be a good one, cause you'll be spending a few grand to keep on top of things.

All in all, I considerded it, but decided that my deal finding abilities would suit me just fine for the rest of my life...until i'm makin 800K a year...then i'll join the club to save me a few hundred bucks.

three weeks pass...
My only question. Does anyone actually win something besides a trip? COmputer, TV, iPod, etc? That's the only way I'll sit through this scam.
