everytime I see Xaro I can't help but think casting made a mistake in not choosing Pretty Raheem for the part.

Good episode, in retrospect, but at the time I was waiting for shit to kick off. Preview for next week probably eased that pain.

Fas Ro Duh (Gukbe), Monday, 21 May 2012 04:35 (eleven years ago) link

Very end was really affecting, and it, Onion Knight + Stannis, and Varys and Tyrion bro'ing down saved the rest of the episode with its Stupid!Robb and Stupid!Jon and Boring!Talk. Even the Arya stuff was meh.

Pot Leeedom (Leee), Monday, 21 May 2012 05:14 (eleven years ago) link

Last three episodes felt lke they could easily have been two episodes. Writers seem committed to giving every storyline at least two minutes of screen time a week, which gets a little silly I.e. this week with Dany.

she should've whistled and said "I'm not in the book you know" like Gopher

raw feel vegan (silby), Monday, 21 May 2012 05:25 (eleven years ago) link

Well that scene had a reason for existing since they're building up a genuine love story which has to involve feelings and she's not just some random prostitue.

abcfsk, Monday, 21 May 2012 05:32 (eleven years ago) link

Stannizzz. I feel like they could've successfully done an entire late season Stannis/Davos/Melisandre episode, sewn up that entire storyline in a single hour, neatly explained Renly's otherwise mysterious death, and then subsequently concluded with whatever conclusion will conclude the Dragonstone/King's Landing battle.

poxen, Monday, 21 May 2012 06:29 (eleven years ago) link

But Stannis/Davos scenes are the best!

abcfsk, Monday, 21 May 2012 06:37 (eleven years ago) link

Can't get used to the fact that guy is actually Davos

Fas Ro Duh (Gukbe), Monday, 21 May 2012 07:28 (eleven years ago) link

most awkward sex scene ever in this one, it was like a kung fu movie with them trying to remove each other's strait-jackets.

also mama stark is now on my list of annoying characters, she just has the same pained expression in every scene.

this show is sliding into walking dead levels of mindlessness, but will still watch every week as i did with that.

"blah blah blah slave saved my brother blah blah blah exposition necessary don't worry i am pretty much guaranteed to get naked by the end of this monologue blah blah blah"

The actress is so gorgeous that none of this bothered me TBH.

episode didn't do much to alleviate my "much ado but no real forward progress" complaint about the last few

Tbf, longwinded footchopper is indeed the most attractive woman on the show

bailiwick bill (forksclovetofu), Monday, 21 May 2012 15:28 (eleven years ago) link

longwinded footchopper = Charlie Chaplin's granddaughter

Walter Galt, Monday, 21 May 2012 16:16 (eleven years ago) link

you wouldn't have thought she came from a silent heritage

bailiwick bill (forksclovetofu), Monday, 21 May 2012 16:17 (eleven years ago) link

no kidding

raw feel vegan (silby), Monday, 21 May 2012 16:25 (eleven years ago) link

imo the wildling who captured jon is now the most attractive woman on this show.

Someone mentioned the Chaplin girl's long speech is dripping with foreshadowing.

Fas Ro Duh (Gukbe), Monday, 21 May 2012 20:22 (eleven years ago) link

Not all she's dripping with etc

raw feel vegan (silby), Monday, 21 May 2012 20:29 (eleven years ago) link

the wildling looking after bran is pretty hot.

her from About a Boy I think

Fas Ro Duh (Gukbe), Monday, 21 May 2012 21:46 (eleven years ago) link

she was in harry potter. she's in a sort of... gypsyish band that played at the premiere party for the last one. v weird, but not awful. she seems quite the character in real life.

ooooiiiioooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaoooooh un - bi - leevable! (LocalGarda), Monday, 21 May 2012 21:54 (eleven years ago) link

whoa she is totally that girl from About a Boy! Huh

What a joyless piece.

Do we really have to debate spoilers again when it's a whole lot easier to treat it as a matter of etiquette?

Pot Leeedom (Leee), Tuesday, 22 May 2012 02:22 (eleven years ago) link

er, Cersei is the hottest woman on this show I think.

And Dinklage is the hottest dude.

homosexual II, Tuesday, 22 May 2012 03:33 (eleven years ago) link

otm about Dinklage at least, dude is handsome

raw feel vegan (silby), Tuesday, 22 May 2012 05:30 (eleven years ago) link

I thought Dinklage was pretty terrible in his big scene with Shae. The accent hampers him when he's trying to get all serious

Number None, Tuesday, 22 May 2012 13:56 (eleven years ago) link

agreed.

ooooiiiioooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaoooooh un - bi - leevable! (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 22 May 2012 14:05 (eleven years ago) link

why even bother w/the terrible accent

lag∞n, Tuesday, 22 May 2012 14:07 (eleven years ago) link

The accents are all over the place. Like Liam Cunningham playing Davos is doing some kind of Geordie thing, Michael McElhatton as Roose Bolton is doing his normal Irish accent and fuck knows what Aidan Gillen is doing. I guess not everyone notices that kind of stuff though

Number None, Tuesday, 22 May 2012 14:11 (eleven years ago) link

Aiden Gillen's accent seems like it changed a lot between the first and second season? I don't know what is up with that.

Respectfully, Tyrese Gibson (Nicole), Tuesday, 22 May 2012 14:12 (eleven years ago) link

yeah, he's definitely gone to some very weird places with it in the second season

Number None, Tuesday, 22 May 2012 14:13 (eleven years ago) link

its just like 1 show is set in an imaginary place 2 medieval england had totally diff accents than present day 3 is how i break it down to an extent

lag∞n, Tuesday, 22 May 2012 14:14 (eleven years ago) link

i liked it when the northmen all had actual northern accents

max, Tuesday, 22 May 2012 14:33 (eleven years ago) link

but i guess that was really mostly just sean bean

max, Tuesday, 22 May 2012 14:33 (eleven years ago) link

iron islands geordie is good value.

also like the few random irish dudes.
