Merdeyeux, Wednesday, 6 June 2012 18:36 (eleven years ago) link

Chris, Wednesday, 6 June 2012 18:55 (eleven years ago) link

Beckham is looking immense these days, speaking of 'that look'

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 6 June 2012 19:06 (eleven years ago) link

and hanging around on brick lane with that look.

I just read the wiki about Brick Lane but I'm not sure I infer everything I'd like to about this post. /tuomas

Is there some kind of UKIP provocation thing that goes on there?

Waine Pryce

Yeah beckham's current look is great .

ooooiiiioooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaoooooh un - bi - leevable! (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 6 June 2012 21:13 (eleven years ago) link

wellll tbh i'd say becks' damn good quality beard is putting an american deadwood kinda slant on it that sets him apart from joey barton's zorg look which itself is on the punk fringe of the stu pearce/parker/twp ukip look

r|t|c, Wednesday, 6 June 2012 21:32 (eleven years ago) link

(parker being on the furthest opposite end of that scale leaning towards apolitical general debonair)

r|t|c, Wednesday, 6 June 2012 21:34 (eleven years ago) link

I saw a flash of colour on Parker's boots the other day. Fucking sell-out.

ach with the brick lane thing i just meant that wayne, retro side-parting and all, was beginning to let out his inner hipster. i'm evidently not v good at being understood tonight.

Merdeyeux, Wednesday, 6 June 2012 23:18 (eleven years ago) link

I think Rooney's 'do is less retro side-parting than comb-over because his fake hair isn't working out quite how he planned. Good enough for Bobby Charlton.

a permanent embarrassment and an occasional disgrace (onimo), Wednesday, 6 June 2012 23:23 (eleven years ago) link

who is the most hipster of the England squad?

Number None, Wednesday, 6 June 2012 23:25 (eleven years ago) link

i have a feeling i may have asked that question before

obv ilx hero leighton.

not jim.

Merdeyeux, Wednesday, 6 June 2012 23:29 (eleven years ago) link

Lawro just daringly picked France to win it on BBC's shite preview show. Shearer, mindful of past embarrassments no doubt, went for Germany.

Defoe has gone home (due to the death of his father, sadly). Just Welbeck and Carroll available for the first two games

Who is that? Looks like the guy from Deacon Blue (xxxxp)

So disappointing that nobody is tipping England to do well this year... apart from Phil Brown

Tom D (Tom D.), Thursday, 7 June 2012 10:09 (eleven years ago) link

joined the league.

predos:

Winners: Germany
Runners up: Italy
Poland and France in the Semis
England knocked out of Group Stages by Sweden

Top goalscorer: Nando Torres

Theo will score a beautiful insane goal against a 10 men Ukraine that guarantees he'll be shitty and not live up to expectations next season.

tom d - ricky ross = michael fassbender in prometheus

Ward Fowler, Thursday, 7 June 2012 10:19 (eleven years ago) link

So when you subtract Ricky Ross from me you get Michael Fassbender? Cool.

Tom D (Tom D.), Thursday, 7 June 2012 10:21 (eleven years ago) link

Have you ever genuinely thought England would win a tournament?

I did in 2002 - I was utterly convinced it was going to happen, at least from the first round when dodgy penalty/Argentina battering on the door to no effect, and maybe before. I could watch the start of games before going to work, and seeing Owen's jammy goal against Brazil just confirmed that it was all written.

It seems kinda insane in retrospect, but when I arrived at work to find that Ronaldinho, Rivaldo et al had turned it round, my brain could not comprehend how this could have happened.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 7 June 2012 10:29 (eleven years ago) link

No.

Tom D (Tom D.), Thursday, 7 June 2012 10:33 (eleven years ago) link

nah to be fair i reckon england have a great chance of winning the carling cup with wellbeck and carroll up front.

ooooiiiioooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaoooooh un - bi - leevable! (LocalGarda), Thursday, 7 June 2012 10:43 (eleven years ago) link

i thought england would win euro 96 tbh

irrational angst that makes me innocuously thingy (darraghmac), Thursday, 7 June 2012 10:49 (eleven years ago) link

^^ aye, with the home advantage i thought they were a sure thing

Michael B Higgins (Michael B), Thursday, 7 June 2012 10:51 (eleven years ago) link

I thought they might after Gary McAllister expertly aimed that penalty kick at David Seamsn's arse

Tom D (Tom D.), Thursday, 7 June 2012 10:52 (eleven years ago) link

i think england will get through the group stage, then somehow scrape victory from jaws of defeat through the knockout stages, john terry will be suspended for the final, england gets outplayed for 90 minutes by another team that misses 40 barn doors and england equalises in the 88th minute then the other team miss a penalty and england win euro 2012 in a penalty shootout with John Terry coming back out wearing a beefeater uniform and fuck the world

Rosie 47 (ken c), Thursday, 7 June 2012 10:55 (eleven years ago) link

wonder if sheva has any terry beef and if he could get someone to stamp on his face in the group stage

Smothered, Covered and Chunked!!! (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 7 June 2012 11:11 (eleven years ago) link

ireland are obviously going to win. the country needs a lift and this will be our f u to our euro overlords.

ooooiiiioooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaoooooh un - bi - leevable! (LocalGarda), Thursday, 7 June 2012 11:12 (eleven years ago) link

darraghmac will feature in an iconic newsreel

ooooiiiioooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaoooooh un - bi - leevable! (LocalGarda), Thursday, 7 June 2012 11:13 (eleven years ago) link

wait, if we win don't we have to host the next one? It'll sink the country!

Number None, Thursday, 7 June 2012 11:22 (eleven years ago) link

Nice try Ireland, the whole of the southern eurozone is in the queue ahead of you.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 7 June 2012 11:22 (eleven years ago) link
