dude playing theon is like a lifesize personification of feckless; great job casting director.

“Argh!” I cry. But I really don’t care. (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 6 June 2012 19:34 (eleven years ago) link

Even with the glasses and the haircut I could tell it was Jon Snow because he is always making that same face.

Respectfully, Tyrese Gibson (Nicole), Wednesday, 6 June 2012 19:38 (eleven years ago) link

is that a recent photo? they all look very young, maybe from lack of beards?

Moodles, Wednesday, 6 June 2012 20:02 (eleven years ago) link

It's from before the first season

Number None, Wednesday, 6 June 2012 20:05 (eleven years ago) link

yeah, i was thinking it was maybe from a book release party for Feast of Crows maybe.

that would make the pic about 6 1/2 years old... maybe?

This might not be common knowledge in the US but the dude who plays Theon is Lily Allen's brother (and Keith Allen's son obviously), he's basically a professional feckless tabloid twat. I quite like watching him as Theon because you know that only unpleasant things are going to happen to him.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 6 June 2012 20:40 (eleven years ago) link

he really brought it in that scene with the maester tho tbf

Fas Ro Duh (Gukbe), Wednesday, 6 June 2012 20:41 (eleven years ago) link

yeah i think he killed it this whole season

ciderpress, Wednesday, 6 June 2012 20:44 (eleven years ago) link

so I was going to respond to the torrent and stream suggestions with a sactimonious response about how I don't want to watch this through non-legit means and want to wait for the HD glory of blu-ray, but then I thought "what the hell" and started checking out the streams.

I watched the first 3 episodes of season two and they are great! Clash of Kings is my favorite of the books so I think I'm really going to enjoy this.

So far the major changes (Mel and Stannis doin' it, Renly's love troubles, various other little details) haven't struck me as nearly egregious as the annoying new scenes from season 1. I hope this continues for the rest of the eps.

Hmm... I thought it would embed but I think I broke it by trying to do the specific time URL. Anyway, yeah - 2min 20s:

Walter Galt, Thursday, 7 June 2012 15:07 (eleven years ago) link

in order for it to embed, the v=[youtube tag] parameter has to come right after the question mark otherwise the site doesn't recognize it as an embeddable Youtube URL

otm about needing a merkin for that sequence; occurred to me as well.

I hate how she dips her head and moves it funny while she's talking? I think it's supposed to mimic predators surveying their prey or w/e and it gets used really clumsily sometimes to connote sexual rapaciousness or primitiveness of some kind and tbh it's just obnoxious on a lot of levels.

how did I get here? why am I in the whiskey aisle? this is all so (Laurel), Thursday, 7 June 2012 18:07 (eleven years ago) link

I only just recently realized she was Tonks in Harry Potter (slow/too lazy to imdb)

hmmm laurel that's a v interesting catch.

the thought of Joff with Natalie Dormer still gives me shivers

Fas Ro Duh (Gukbe), Thursday, 7 June 2012 18:32 (eleven years ago) link

I mean I didn't really think about it at the time, because Littlefinger crepeing on Sansa out-shivered it but still

On episode 7 and my least favorite part about season 2 so far is the recasting of Tywin as Arya's cuddly grandpa.

In the books, Joff's paternity is an open secret among the small council, but I forget who knew about it before Ned blew the lid off of that. Littlefinger, and maybe Varys?

Pubes Like Jagger (Leee), Sunday, 17 June 2012 21:55 (eleven years ago) link

Oops, I mean, who on the show version knew about Joffcest before Ned.

Pubes Like Jagger (Leee), Sunday, 17 June 2012 21:56 (eleven years ago) link

I think it could have been an open secret amongst the small council. They never seemed shocked by the accusation, nor did it matter to them. The Maester must have known if he killed Ned's predecessor for finding out.

Fas Ro Duh (Gukbe), Sunday, 17 June 2012 22:00 (eleven years ago) link

I'm not entirely sure we know who killed jon arryn yet

Clay, Sunday, 17 June 2012 22:23 (eleven years ago) link

I thought the Maester told Tyrion that he did. I've not read the books so I might be wrong.
