I seem to recall that Richard Berry who wrote "Louie Louie" said Barry White's version of it on his 1981 album Beware! was his favorite version of the song, in part because it has a Caribbean feel that matched Berry's original conception of the tune.

Barry's one of those artists where, if someone says "I can't stand Barry White", how do you respond? What do you say?

I need help. Heard a fantastic bit of BW on the radio the other day but don't know what it was! It was an intro with spoken bits thing that he does, but it wasn't directed at a lady, more like his listening audience. Something like "we put together this compilation for you" kinda thing. The music was minimal, rhythmic, reminiscent of maybe psychedelic era temptations?

I'm at lunch. "Can't Get Enough of Your Love" playing loud enough in the speakers at this restaurant for everybody to feel the groove. God he was great, great, one of the all-time greats.
