"Was the ball wobbling there, the Tango ball, in the air?" I'm not sure any commentator so far has avoided discussing the ball, even if it's just to note there's not been any controversy about the ball.

William Bloody Swygart, Monday, 11 June 2012 19:24 (eleven years ago) link

Seems to building up a bit now.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 11 June 2012 19:25 (eleven years ago) link

yeah this is fine compared to the england game xxp

Zaireeka Badu (NickB), Monday, 11 June 2012 19:25 (eleven years ago) link

Anyone remember Turkey valiantly winning like three games in a row in stoppage time? Amazing wasn't it?

First group games are usually shite, it'll be better when they all decide they have to win.

Matt DC, Monday, 11 June 2012 19:26 (eleven years ago) link

Fuck! Should've scored

pandemic, Monday, 11 June 2012 19:26 (eleven years ago) link

this game has been way better than the eng-fra game.

ibby!

teams with overall worse players more entertaining than teams w/ good players playing not to lose

"funny old game"

This game isn't that good, you're all just overcompensating for the England game.

Matt DC, Monday, 11 June 2012 19:32 (eleven years ago) link

otm

it looks like something rupert the bear would wear (Algerian Goalkeeper), Monday, 11 June 2012 19:33 (eleven years ago) link

Ismael Klata, Monday, 11 June 2012 19:35 (eleven years ago) link

Did he get homesick?

Ismael Klata, Monday, 11 June 2012 19:36 (eleven years ago) link

Nasri claiming to deliberately shoot at near post to confuse Hart. Lies.

a permanent embarrassment and an occasional disgrace (onimo), Monday, 11 June 2012 19:43 (eleven years ago) link

In fact it was actually worse than the England game which at least had two goals in the first 45. This had... not much for the first half hour.

Matt DC, Monday, 11 June 2012 19:43 (eleven years ago) link

Might pick up in the second 45 but I feel I should maybe do something other than watch football for a bit as I'm already getting a bit jaded.

FWIW Spain v Italy was the best game so far with probably the best two teams.

Matt DC, Monday, 11 June 2012 19:45 (eleven years ago) link

safe to say sweden is the worst team in the tournament so far.

sonderangerbot, Monday, 11 June 2012 19:46 (eleven years ago) link

Sp/It was the best game

Poland, Ireland, Czech Rep all worse imo

pandemic, Monday, 11 June 2012 19:47 (eleven years ago) link

Much being made of the rigidity of England's 4-4-2. I thought England looked more 4-2-3-1 than 4-4-2 with the ball, when they got decent possession. Nothing wrong with two 4s or even a 4-5 when you haven't got the ball imo. All about how quick you can change it when you get possession.

a permanent embarrassment and an occasional disgrace (onimo), Monday, 11 June 2012 19:50 (eleven years ago) link

Beside Sp/It you'd expect Germany to play better.

xyzzzz__, Monday, 11 June 2012 19:51 (eleven years ago) link

ibby on his worst day >>> croatia/roi

Smothered, Covered and Chunked!!! (a hoy hoy), Monday, 11 June 2012 19:51 (eleven years ago) link

Spain/Italy was a good game. Poland/Greece was entertaining in its own way. Russia need to play somebody convincing so we can work out how good they are.

Mexès Coleslaw Massacre (Noodle Vague), Monday, 11 June 2012 19:52 (eleven years ago) link

onimo otm btw, for the first 45 it really wasn't a 4-4-2 at all

If I'm the Ukraine manager I want this guy's leg to be broken if he's chosen to lie down rather than get up and fucking defend.

Now that's been a good few minutes.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 11 June 2012 20:01 (eleven years ago) link

Even if he can't run, he's probably a better bet to score than Milevsky or Seleznyov.

Temporarily Famous In The Czech Republic (ShariVari), Monday, 11 June 2012 20:01 (eleven years ago) link

Portugal and Holland the only teams not to score. Still when you've only got RVP and Ronaldo it's to be expected really.
