thinking back, i think the only thing that didnt really satisfy me about the way this wrapped up was the pete/gilmore girl storyline. it was just such a romance-novel melodramatic situation... one last night before she forgets me forever... i dunno

I sort of didn't care about it myself

altho it led to the fight on the train, which was A+ awesome

i think if they'd actually made it out to be a "romance" that it would annoy me, but as it was just a way to display how much of a miserable, void pete is i sort of enjoyed it. tho found it somewhat contrived.

re: Pete/girl, I thought it's point was to introduce the idea into Pete's head that ~he~ might be depressed?

Kartheiser has always been good at playing whiny and creepy.

my gf thought that gilmore girl was pretending she didn't remember him, to put it in the past.

dan selzer, Thursday, 14 June 2012 17:42 (eleven years ago) link

yeah, I was wondering about that myself. Does electroshock therapy actually work that way?

silverfish, Thursday, 14 June 2012 17:46 (eleven years ago) link

That's possible, but it doesn't matter a whole lot since she'll probably never be seen again and Pete is getting his city fuck pad.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 14 June 2012 17:46 (eleven years ago) link

the irony of trudy acceding to his desire for an apartment in the city is that he no longer wants it. i don't think we're going to see him turning into don.

memory loss is a possible side effect of ECT it seems, yes. Less so nowadays; the techniques for administering ECT have changed a lot.

According To Wikipedia™ anyway

Doesn't he though?

he wants it - it's not like he loves the burbs now. finding out what he does with it should be interesting.

well the train rides are going to be very awkward from now on...

Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 14 June 2012 18:39 (eleven years ago) link

time to find a new seat. seriously, how did they always have the same seats!

call all destroyer, Thursday, 14 June 2012 18:41 (eleven years ago) link

It's not uncommon on commuter trains. If you always make the same train, and tend to sit in the same car because it's close to your entrance or where you want to exit, you start to see the same people quite a bit. He'll probably just take a different time train from now on!

dan selzer, Thursday, 14 June 2012 18:46 (eleven years ago) link

Oh no, what if the other guy has the same idea and they STILL wind up on the same train?

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 14 June 2012 18:48 (eleven years ago) link

next season is all Pete getting punched out at irregular hours every morning.

Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 14 June 2012 18:50 (eleven years ago) link

its true i guess, i'm a v. irregular train commuter and i still see ppl i recognize.

best friend's mother is a nurse, she does it, there are many people who it's the only thing that works for, and who otherwise couldn't live an even vaguely normal life.

tell it to my arse (jim in glasgow), Thursday, 14 June 2012 19:05 (eleven years ago) link

trying to shift your neurochemistry with some current doesn't seem morally different from doing same with drugs or exercise or sunshine or talking or anything else

goole, Thursday, 14 June 2012 19:06 (eleven years ago) link

yeah seems to me its purported creepiness is more an extension of it being forced on people involuntarily and, perhaps earlier on, due to its crudity as a method

a dense custard of infinity (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 14 June 2012 19:30 (eleven years ago) link

also scientology has really exploited it to try and discredit psychiatry

brony ver (s1ocki), Thursday, 14 June 2012 20:00 (eleven years ago) link

This last episode was pretty much perfection, I think. Far surpassed any film I've seen in the last... 3 years or so. Just... really great.

watched this again last night - my opinion of Megan's mother is unchanged. when she comes in to find Megan in bed she's the one who starts going on about how the world can't fulfill all the dreams of little girls, that she's being lazy. Megan lashes back with the "is that what you tell yourself" comment but then her mom calls her "an ungrateful little bitch".

this is shitty parenting.

to complicate things further, am i the only on who got a sense that the chemistry between don and marie was somehow livelier than with megan?
