This has been good. PilaĆ is a promising young Czech player, they don't come around often.

this has been good so far. its mostly been in greece's half, kerz had a nice half volley that went just wide.

Mark Bright thinks Greece are playing 4-2-4-2-3-1. Illegal surely?

oooooooh zherkob just ran 50 yards, went past two and is so so close to getting to ball to dzagoev for what would have been a free chance. getting closer and closer.

p good shot in the endpoland have to score before they run out of steam here
They've been great but they are running out a bit - still attacking loads but those attacks are ending further and further from the Czech goal.

spain '82 was the first int tourney i can remember and since then i've always felt they should be played in blazing sunshine and stifling heat. This feels wrong. Could be fun though.

Feels strange to hear "Gebre Selassie" and not be watching the legendary Ethiopian runner sprint away from the field to win another Olympic gold.

― pandemic, Saturday, 16 June 2012 19:26 (eleven years ago) link
Kinda agree about blazing sunshine and stifling heat - they should look entirely unlike regular footy is the point. I was going to posit ungodly kickoff times too, but that was just Mexico 86 really.

Don't remember the kick-off times being particularly ungodly for Mexico 86? I'm pretty sure the Hand of God game was on a Sunday afternoon (UK time), and England v Paraguay early evening. I have vague memories of seeing Wilkins get sent off and Robson injured on a Friday night (?) in a dreadful game in the group stages. The 3-0 with Lineker's goals must have been late and on a school night because I didn't see that live.

lol I was just laughing at that classic Samaras break there, nice touch, rides a tackle, overruns the ball, has to challenge to keep it, somehow still has it, strides forward past another man, gets excited, shoots ridiculously wide from 30 yards, fixes his hair, expressionless.
His whole career in 10 seconds
xxxp

The analysis of the Greek goal was hilarious:
"Good goal""Keeper should've saved it in my view"
I can only assume they couldn't see the start of the clip in the studio.

xxxp - I am too, but it's not too much to write home about at present. Limbersky's looking bright, but no-one's really looking like scoring. It pretty much is what it is.
