I like Dr Baltar. I would be more like him if I could, but I could never be that way.

I am currently watching Battlestar Galactica 1980, it's pretty terrible!

I prefer to imagine that Baltar is played by Billy Mitchell.

Terrible Cold, Sunday, 6 April 2008 17:46 (sixteen years ago) link

for some reason i find most baltar scenes boring (except when he's actually learning stuff) - but he's outdoing tony soprano in the 'hateful dude gets mad fine bitches' stakes

first 15 mins were great, like the chief's new gruffer tone

blueski, Sunday, 6 April 2008 22:52 (sixteen years ago) link

he's got a lot of things on his mind to make him gruffer, that's for sure

latebloomer, Sunday, 6 April 2008 22:56 (sixteen years ago) link

it was ok

baltar has always been the best character

s1ocki, Monday, 7 April 2008 03:56 (sixteen years ago) link

butttttt

baltar is "one of the best realized characters in film" ?!?!!!!!!

Slightly out of context...but, you clearly don't appreciate my mildly drunken hyperbole.

Bill in Chicago, Monday, 7 April 2008 04:23 (sixteen years ago) link

he's totally the comic relief too
which, uh, says a lot about how much of a lolcomedy this show is...
i'm into it getting darker and darker as it all comes to an end though, bring it

haha while we were watching the first 10 minutes, a friend of mine was like, so while the writers strike was on the fx guys just fucked around with new ways to make laser explosions eh
fully cheesy i guess but whatever it made me wish i had a huuge screen

does anyone think this ep's cliffhanger was anything but lame

s1ocki, Monday, 7 April 2008 15:24 (sixteen years ago) link

lol yeah it's not like we don't know what's going to happen.

overall i thought it was a solid episode. but really i just want to get this season started and see where they go.

latebloomer, Monday, 7 April 2008 15:33 (sixteen years ago) link

as IF starbuck's gonna kill roslin

s1ocki, Monday, 7 April 2008 15:37 (sixteen years ago) link

srsly

latebloomer, Monday, 7 April 2008 15:47 (sixteen years ago) link

also the tigh-killing-adama fantasy seq was so cheap

s1ocki, Monday, 7 April 2008 15:59 (sixteen years ago) link

yeah, definitely.

i liked how angry and suspicious roslin was though. she's getting meaner.

latebloomer, Monday, 7 April 2008 16:14 (sixteen years ago) link

I thought it was pretty good. Characters I dislike so far this season: Stabuck's husband (too whiney); Baltar cult cru (espesh the diseased kid); Tigh (fantasy Adama killin was lame).

wilter, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 00:47 (sixteen years ago) link

was the sick kid a thing from prev season?

s1ocki, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 00:54 (sixteen years ago) link

The boy's mother visited Baltar in the brig in the penultimate episode of season 3. She showed a photo of her son asked Baltar to bless him.

latebloomer, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 00:57 (sixteen years ago) link

I loved the cheesy-ass shrine they had with Baltar's photo in it.

latebloomer, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 00:58 (sixteen years ago) link

What about the son of the dude who attacks Baltar? Was there meeting shown previously?

wilter, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 01:01 (sixteen years ago) link

their

wilter, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 01:01 (sixteen years ago) link

fairly unimportant..but I was just wondering. I couldn't remember it.

wilter, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 01:02 (sixteen years ago) link

I don't think the incident was shown. But iirc that guy was one of the "circle" members who were secretly throwing cylon collaborators out the airlock at the beginning of season 3 (after the exodus from New Caprica).

latebloomer, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 01:06 (sixteen years ago) link

yeah, they've referenced his family before. loved baltar's babecult - manson overtones mixed in w/ the jesus.

balls, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 01:12 (sixteen years ago) link

Also, was Baltar's mental cylon girl ok with him shagging the cult girl?

wilter, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 01:15 (sixteen years ago) link

Maybe I shd rewatch some season 3.

latebloomer, Saturday, 12 April 2008 03:00 (sixteen years ago) link

I could swear that awesome line "You're the PRESIDENT'S WETNURSE" is some sort of an Adama callback from earlier in the series...

Nhex, Saturday, 12 April 2008 05:37 (sixteen years ago) link

good episode i thought, they kinda saved the 'omg starbuck gonna kill the prez' cliffhanger w/ 'basically, women are crazy'. loved loved loved the cylon schism.

balls, Saturday, 12 April 2008 16:36 (sixteen years ago) link
