<3 I posted a picture on my FB yesterday and a stream of Canadians came out of the woodwork chuckling with glee. Another reminded me of 'Sol,' who I'd forgotten about.

tbh I find it easier to chop the banana into chunks at least before freezing -- it breaks down a little easier in the food processor and doesn't put as much stress on the motor.

half is in the fridge

lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 July 2012 18:43 (eleven years ago) link

yeah but you can just break up the whole banana into chunks before throwing it in the blender - that was my point about the banana not freezing solid. plus whole banana = less surface area to brown. xps

just1n3, Tuesday, 17 July 2012 18:44 (eleven years ago) link

honestly unless you have a yonanas you really shouldnt even be talking frozen banana technique

lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 July 2012 18:45 (eleven years ago) link

i dunno about banana not freezing solid. i'd put one in peel and all by mistake and it came out as a very hard-to-peel bludgeon. i think it would make a good murder mystery ("detective, the vic was bludgeoned to death, but there's no murder weapon!" the dishwasher just smiled to himself and ate his very mushy and damp banana. "well, I guess we'll never solve this case." "hold on a second," said Encyclopedia Brown. ENCYCLOPEDIA BROWN KNEW WHO THE KILLER WAS. DO YOU?)

Philip Nunez, Tuesday, 17 July 2012 18:51 (eleven years ago) link

that's the peel freezing solid - you gotta peel it first.

just1n3, Tuesday, 17 July 2012 18:52 (eleven years ago) link

cant freeze w/the peel on bro

lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 July 2012 18:52 (eleven years ago) link

yeah hold up on the peel yo

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 17 July 2012 18:58 (eleven years ago) link

I have never tried to freeze a peeled banana! Just1n3 dropping science on us! I don't know why I knew that coins did not freeze solid but my brain could not connect to a larger banana similarly not freezing solid :P

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Tuesday, 17 July 2012 19:00 (eleven years ago) link

actually, maybe they do freeze solid if you have a properly working freezer - my freezer is overstocked and a piece of shit.

just1n3, Tuesday, 17 July 2012 19:16 (eleven years ago) link

i heard fully packed freezers are more efficient than empty ones? internet is really no help in solving that mystery.

Philip Nunez, Tuesday, 17 July 2012 19:23 (eleven years ago) link

My freezer is fine and they don't freeze totally solid. Nunez doin' something wrong imo.

Banans on ice wont solve global warmin yo

The Cheerfull Turtle (Latham Green), Tuesday, 17 July 2012 19:36 (eleven years ago) link

yo ...nanas?

Philip Nunez, Tuesday, 17 July 2012 19:39 (eleven years ago) link

the first time i did this i didn't peel them - total disaster. i had to thaw them (defeating the whole purpose of freezing) and the peel didn't come off properly.

just1n3, Tuesday, 17 July 2012 19:40 (eleven years ago) link

Yonanas might help bro

The Cheerfull Turtle (Latham Green), Tuesday, 17 July 2012 19:41 (eleven years ago) link

Yonanas are the Magic Bullet, then?

Philip Nunez, Tuesday, 17 July 2012 19:44 (eleven years ago) link

My shitty blender doesn't even have a top and it does this just fine. Sure I have to stop it and start it a couple times but I get perfect fro yo consistency banana stuff every time. It's pretty much the easiest thing in the world.

"At last, a practice space opens up for Tetreault. Percussionists warm up on a glockenspiel for 10 minutes in one practice room, then move to the next for the xylophone. As they get ready, the auditioners are battling their nerves. The calmest eat bananas, which are supposedly full of natural beta blockers."

1 calorie per paper thin 1.5" by 3.5" sheet, around 80 or so per jar. Get minerals and sate your salt cravings at once. My local asian supermarket carries these for around $2.75.

all this talk of things that are like ice cream is crazy. ice cream is like ice cream. frozen grapes and bananas are like frozen grapes and bananas. they're not even as good as nice, fresh, unfrozen grapes and bananas.

contenderizer, Tuesday, 17 July 2012 20:50 (eleven years ago) link

x-post NO. NO CELERY EVER OR FOR ANY REASON. GROSS.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Tuesday, 17 July 2012 20:51 (eleven years ago) link

lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 July 2012 20:52 (eleven years ago) link

x-post - Dude, you're wrong. If someone gave me the forzen banana stuff and told me it was soft serve I would believe them. It's that similar/good.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Tuesday, 17 July 2012 20:52 (eleven years ago) link
