I have never bothered finding out what tublr really is, believe it or not. Probably more than my work production can handle to delve into it. ILM cuts into it enough!

haha, doing a rangda day is fun. these guys have so many different projects, and most of them are great.

went to record store to make sure they would have a rangda for me next week, here was my exchange with clerk:

me: i wanted to see if i could order a new release for next week?
clerk: sure, what is it
me: rangda...yknow, they're one of those hard-to-categorize supergroup type groups and i don't want to search all over so...
clerk: what?
me: rangda r-a-n-g-d-a. i think it's an indonesian demon or something?
clerk: rangada?
me: r-a-n
clerk: r-a-n
me: g-d-a
clerk: ok

Knowing the shops you probably frequent LL, I'm kinda shocked they didn't know who Rangda is!

i felt the same way! there was a guy there who i know would have known what i was talking about, but he was not the one helping me.

Just saw C. Corsano play solo last night and holy shit was that good. Dude is just great.

so is the new one better than the last (my only gripe with the last one was that the show was 100000000x better, but maybe that's just the nature of the thing)

lol okay i just had a similar conversation to LL's just now. called my local shop to see if they got it in and ask them to hold a copy for me.

me: "Yeah, I just wanted to see if you got the new Rangda album in?"
sleepy sounding dude: "Uh, who was that?"
me: "Rangda. R-A-N-G-D-A."
ssd: *types away* "Hmm, nothing coming up for that in the system. How was that spelled again?"
me: "R-A-N-G-D-A"
ssd: "Nope, nothing, not even an entry for other albums by them."
me: "That's weird, I know I bought their first album from you guys."
ssd: "What's the name of the album?"
me: "Formerly Extinct."
ssd: "Oh yeah, here it is. We've got a couple copies. It's actually spelled R-A-N-G-D-A."
me: *slaps forehead* "Okay, cool, thanks."

fwiw, dude was super friendly and helpful, was just a funny exchange and made me think of LL's post.

btw, the album hasn't really electrified me all that much, but i like it. i guess anything is going to sound minimal after listening to a bunch of SWANS. the sound seems to be a little heavier on the sir richard this time? the drumming isn't nearly as crazy as i remember it?

anyway, i like it and hope that they find a way to tour again. the show was GREAT and corsano is really fun to watch.

yeah love this, not sure if it's as good as the first one, but really strong. i do know what you mean about corsano being a bit reined in -- i almost imagine he thinks of rangda as his most non-out-there project.

Kinda feel like this project is a grab at straight-ahead power trio rock format for all three of these dudes.

It was a recommendation for another record but it sounded kinda like a marketing ploy -- but why would anyone use me for their promotional target? So I figure it must be a normal ilxor. Just don't know who!

surprised there isn't more post-release discussion in this thread. loving the new album, but i never gave the first one a ton of time, so maybe my perspective is different.

is the first one better, according to hardcore Rangda-o-philes?

i think the first one is better, but the second one is great, too. i just want these guys to make an album every month.

The first one is definitely more improvy and less songy. If that seems like it would appeal to you, I recommend it! I like it.

I definitely prefer the first one. The 2nd seems a bit restrained in comparison, which is not really what I want from these guys.

I feel like all three of them took the opportunity to freak out a lot more on the first one; the second one is more organized/normal.
