wow...for that and writing the melodically indestructible "mandy", he's the MAN.

Sorry to be fastidious, but he didn't write "Mandy." He did, however, come up with the ballad arrangement.

Grammy, Tony, Emmy Award-winning recording artist Barry Manilow will release 15 MINUTES his powerful new album filled with all original compositions on June 14.
After having recorded six critically acclaimed albums of songs written by the greatest songwriters of all time - from Gershwin to Bacharach, Manilow returns at last to his true passion - songwriting. Manilow teams up once again with lyricist Enoch Anderson for this astounding new work.

Inspired by the Andy Warhol quote that "in the future, everybody will be world famous for fifteen minutes," this energetic and exciting guitar-driven pop album explores the perils and pinnacles of fame's double-edged sword. More than two years in the making 15 MINUTES is set for release on June 14.

"Fame and success are something we all strive for, and yet when we get it how do we behave? That question jumps out at us daily from magazine covers, TV news and online gossip sites. In my world of entertainment, I've watched perfectly decent and talented people achieve the success they've been striving for only to crash and burn as their star rises. It happens in every walk of life, not only in the entertainment field; in sports, in politics and in daily life when the assistant manager gets promoted at the grocery store. It's something that continues to fascinate us, and for me it represented an exciting musical journey to explore, " explained Manilow.

Making a guest appearance on 15 MINUTES is young Nataly Dawn, lead singer of the white-hot group "Pomplamoose." Her rendition of "Letter From A Fan" is both innocent and eerie.

15 MINUTES, produced by Manilow and Michael Lloyd is a captivating tale of someone who achieves fame, blows it and begins again.

people need to go listen to the samples of this thing now because wow

That video looks like the cover of Metallica's Load & so I was kinda imagining it was Hetfield on vocals & it kinda worked that way! or at least I can imagine what nü-Metallica would sound like on this tune & it's not jarring at all.

lol songwriting-wise it's not far off from Death Magnetic

"The second track, "Work the Room," is a funky song where Barry expertly raps the lyrics. If you've ever had to look for a job and go to a networking event, you'll appreciate this song."

MARRIED HIS LONGTIME MANAGER

My first media encounter with Barry Manilow was in 1976 - a short profile on a middle-of-the-road Los Angeles AM station. Included the news that Manilow had stated he was trying to bring quality back to popular music.

The station then played "I Write the Songs".

i guess this means "out" as in talking about it to the media.

Fiercely private, the pop icon recently welcomed PEOPLE into his Palm Springs home for an exclusive interview and photo shoot with his manager husband Garry Kief — and talked for the first time about their nearly 40-year romance. Says Manilow, “I’m so private. I always have been.”

And the couple has stayed together for 39 years, all while remaining mum on his sexuality — an open secret to some in his long-devoted, mostly female fan base, a shock to others — and even stepping out and living with once-rumored love interest Linda Allen during his relationship with Kief.

Manilow admits he’s always been hesitant to discuss the relationship — and to come out publicly, even after he finally married Kief in a clandestine ceremony at their 53-acre Palm Springs estate in April 2014.

q: I was wondering...you don't hear much about your personal life. I don't know, I never really thought about it, but...I was wondering...if you were gay?
a: Well, I'm not. No, no, I'm not. I've been married and I'm going with a girl right now.

(Magazine is an issue of Graffiti from early '88 and Manilow interview is accompanied by a semi-fictionalized "Barry Manilow - The Story" by none other than clemenza himself btw)
