snuck up on a crocodile in the sewers with my fat cat and thought, well I took down a cow so why not
one bite on the tail, thing turns around and massacres me with a snap
do not fuck with crocodiles in this game

btw: there are dinosaurs

i find your posts fascinating, and also convincing to never ever play this game

Nhex, Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:38 (eleven years ago) link

it is, in many ways, totally reminiscent of Parasite Eve/Dino Crisis era capcom games

really, sony seems simultaneously confused and crazy like a fox in the marketplace right now.
i gotta recommend getting a ps3 and ps+ to anyone: it's a new game every week. and good games!

EVERYONE COOKING SCMABLED EGGS,CHEESE WITH TOASTER!! (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 2 October 2012 03:39 (eleven years ago) link

how are the PS3 and Vita doing? I honestly can't tell

Nhex, Tuesday, 2 October 2012 03:46 (eleven years ago) link

PS3 is selling well at the moment, consistently outselling 360 worldwide (360 still king in US though).
Vita sales figures are disastrous at the moment, we're talking Dreamcast levels here.

zappi, Tuesday, 2 October 2012 09:46 (eleven years ago) link

sony is the dumbest

Yeah, I got a free month trial of PS+ yesterday and am kind of impressed actually, that's a pretty decent bunch of free stuff. Tempted to stay with it. Not clear on how the automatic downloads thing works though, it says something like "automatically download recommended games and demos"...so do they just push out every new freebie they add to the list, or what? And how do they decide which demos I do or don't care about?

JimD, Wednesday, 3 October 2012 13:51 (eleven years ago) link

they don't push much of anything really. It's mostly good for updates. They drop the occasional thing they're wanting everybody to get into; can't remember them ever pushing a demo.

nfl blitz for free this week btw

i got PS+ a few weeks ago and i've been impressed with it, i don't normally play the "big" games on release anyway so its perfect for me - playing Borderlands at the moment, Red Dead Redemption or RE5 next. Hey Sony this makes me even less likely to buy games on release for full price, so thanks!

zappi, Wednesday, 3 October 2012 14:27 (eleven years ago) link

Yeah don't think we get blitz in the UK. Some dead rabbit something or other today, then bulletstorm/RE5 next week apparently.

JimD, Wednesday, 3 October 2012 15:31 (eleven years ago) link

hell yeah!: wrath of the dead rabbit is a good time

Just want to pick up on those people who are loving Valkyria Chronicles upthread. I found that the actual strategic elements of it are often overstated. Then there was an absurd difficulty spike (that desert level with the tank you have to blow up its radiators one by one before this crazy chick who can one-shot kill anybody arrives) which caused me to put the game down and stop playing. That was like two years ago, I haven't picked it up since.

fields of salmon, Thursday, 4 October 2012 11:56 (eleven years ago) link

the difficulty is one of the things i loved about it! i didn't really bother with the orders until the very end though which makes it a lot easier.

zappi, Thursday, 4 October 2012 12:19 (eleven years ago) link

er would have made it a lot easier

Deadly Premonition: The Directors Cut coming to PlayStation 3 in 2013
Along with the original story and gameplay, there are some great new features, including HD graphics, an updated control system, a brand new scenario from the game’s director, Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro, and DLC to keep the mystery going once you complete the main campaign.

PS+ is pretty crazy. Do they always give out this many games for free? Rushed to start my 30-day trial so I could grab KOF XIII, Dungeon Defenders, PayDay, Resident Evil 5 Gold, Double Dragon Neon, Bloodrayne... I didn't even pick up some of the others they were offering

Nhex, Friday, 30 November 2012 14:44 (eleven years ago) link

yeah, it's a good bargain. though at least one week a month they have virtually nothing. that's this week.

(alternatively, “Respec’”) (forksclovetofu), Friday, 30 November 2012 14:50 (eleven years ago) link

Arkham City, Vanquish and Limbo are the new PS+ freebs in the UK this month. Two of those three are definitely great, Vanquish might be ok too.

But that means today is the last chance to grab Crysis 2, Scott Pilgrim, Double Dragon Neon.

JimD, Tuesday, 4 December 2012 10:16 (eleven years ago) link

Double Dragon Neon is so, so stupid, but I kinda love it?

Nhex, Wednesday, 5 December 2012 14:58 (eleven years ago) link

EU peeps : Tokyo Jungle is £5.19/€6.49 (£4.67/€5.84 for PS+) for next couple of days

JimD, Wednesday, 5 December 2012 18:26 (eleven years ago) link

Did we have some kind of trash/guilty pleasures thread? 'Cuz Double Dragon Neon definitely is my Guilty Pleasure of The Year. Tries as hard as it can to be incredibly stupid and succeeds wonderfully. The actual game, eh, it's OK. Being such a huge NES Double Dragon fan back in the day helps, but wow, the ending song belongs in the pantheon with "Still Alive" and the God Hand ending:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJNDP_HTFp4

I almost xposted this to the Xbox thread to make sure jjjusten read this. But then again, you probably don't need to play the game now that you've seen that. But man! This is gonna make my C&P just for taking the original DD theme and turning it into a cheesy karaoke rock opera.

Papo & Yo on sale tomorrow through Jan. 3rd:

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/12/17/the-music-styling-of-papo-yo-soundtrack-and-sale-on-psn-tomorrow/

Some other junk too, but not a great start for the sale week. Anyone rep for I Am Alive?

I've been playing some Motorstorm RC. The game is tremendously tough, but pretty fun. I wish it had online multiplayer.

Might get Journey on sale today, but not sure if I should wait for a sale on the disc version.
Tokyo Jungle on sale tomorrow; do I hate myself enough to buy it?
Skullgirls too.

three weeks pass...

13 games on sale tomorrow on PSN:
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/01/21/psns-13-for-13-begins-tomorrow-top-games-movies-great-prices/

Really nice PS+ prices. Anyone rep for Unfinished Swan, LBP Karting, Hot Shots Golf, or House of the Dead OVERKILL?

Nhex, Monday, 21 January 2013 16:25 (eleven years ago) link

Hot Shots Golf is great. If you've never played any of the previous Hot Shot games, it's a no brainer at that price. If you've played the other Hot Shot games before (or classic Mario Golf games), it's pretty much just more of the same, except with better graphics, a new shot type (though classic is still best) and some online modes... so it depends if you feel like playing more of that.

JCL, Monday, 21 January 2013 17:21 (eleven years ago) link

Hot Shots Golf is mechanically a pretty good golf game and has a sort of RPG mode to work through, i find the look of it pretty ugly though, those big bobbly heads ugh :(
played HOTD Overkill on Wii and its a good lightgun game esp local co-op, obv in thrall of Tarantino/70s exploitation thing but the script is quite funny in places - i imagine it would be pretty unplayable unless you have the Move controller though

( X '____' )/ (zappi), Monday, 21 January 2013 17:30 (eleven years ago) link

i haven't played Mario Golf since the Gamecube... i'm thinking about it
i do have the Move, but i guess I'd have to shell out for a second controller to do co-op. for $5, though, that sounds like fun

Nhex, Monday, 21 January 2013 17:35 (eleven years ago) link

oh yeh EU PSN is having a Final Fantasy sale starting Wednesday, pretty much everything half price.
anyone want to rep for Final Fantasy Tactics: War of Lions?

( X '____' )/ (zappi), Monday, 21 January 2013 17:35 (eleven years ago) link

that's the remake of the original FFT for PS1, right? all-time classic in the genre
