I hear ya. but I'm the opposite! with a bike proper, I'd come up with every escuse known to man not to go for a ride (its too hot/too cold/too wet/too much traffic). At least a stationary is there, and I have no excuses at all (last time i hired one i did actually use it erry day)

until it gets covered in towels and bras and becomes a defacto drying rack :)

Which is why I rent one, rather than buy one hehe :D

TBH I have thought about getting a mounto bikington so I can go on rides with J, but hes way way fitter than I am and can do the steep bits of merri trail and shiz and i'd just die.

those bits take some practice

I guess I could just ride around AP lake, its all flat.

my old practice run was basically from moonee ponds to abbotsford on the CCT

(might need to get a couple of those in before tackling the trip to work)

I have to be honest, fear of being doored/hit by car is the main reason I've never gotten another bike (when I usaed to ride as a teen it was legal to ride on footpaths where i lived, I never got used to traffic)

And when shit happens like my cousin's husband, who gets a little scooter, then gets mashed off it like 2 weeks later and is now a quadraplegic, its like ehhhhh.

traffic sucks for sure and i will go to great lengths to avoid any roads without explicit lanes. in my last ~6 month stint of riding i only had two closish calls, but generally felt reasonably safe. i tend to find if you don't ride like a fuckhead your ability to stay alive tends to hover at a highish level

I can barely sit in a taxi drunk, I'd be effed on a bike and have NO idea how ppl drive in that state.
