thought it was a bit silly that the governor abandoned his tentative woodbury tour in favour of taking andrea on a date to watch merle beating seven shades of shit out of another beefcake in a cage made of zombies

that character is always gonna be maddening. the dude you have to worry about on top of all the man-eating monsters trying to kill you. you just want them to die so badly. tim robbins kinda set the modern bar high with his crazy dude in war of the worlds.
sooooooo those guys from philadelphia who bit the dust last season they didn't live in this town did they? i'm guessing not. i don't have a good mapquest sense of how far everything is from everything else. how far is the prison from the town?

i thought it was really funny how he was hooting and cheering and turned to her while she was making the http://i.imgur.com/JWXzm.jpg face and is like 'what, you dont like this??'
― turds (Hungry4Ass), Tuesday, 13 November 2012 00:03 (eleven years ago) link
haha yeah that was great
xp so otm on that tim robbins bit from WotW

yeah it kinda had that 'Travis Bickle taking the girl to the porn theater on the first date' feel to it

If they had just established maybe one episode prior that the zombies become complacent when they can no longer bite, than why were the arena zombies still in attack mode with their teeth removed?
― Evan, Tuesday, 13 November 2012 06:29 (eleven years ago) link
I felt like the complacency is something they learn over time or become conditioned into? Like, they *become* complacent in the situation with Mishonne, as her captives and eventually become docile... but these fightclub zombies had their teeth removed what, just the day before...and are still place in a situation where they're encouraged to bite. So they're not really being conditioned not to, so of course they're still going to try. I dunno if that's what's actually going on or what but that's how I interpreted it.

i think you're on the money there... also it makes a nice metaphor for what seems inevitable for this town
― Nhex, Tuesday, 13 November 2012 07:35 (eleven years ago) link
last shot of Michonne holding the basket in the pack of zombies clutching the fence was nice

― Evan, Tuesday, 20 November 2012 01:57 (eleven years ago) link
wait nothing else to add? anyone? i think this might have been my fave episode yet. first thing you have to remember though is: ALWAYS shoot merle if he comes up to you on the street. plus, come on, GO BACK was pretty good as a sight gag.
― scott seward, Wednesday, 21 November 2012 20:28 (eleven years ago) link
fave episode this seaon i should add.
They should have a "Walking Dead" Thanksgiving ep.

ha! do you want anyone to live? i already said the good hick brother is the only one i really care about. and i don't even know why.
― scott seward, Wednesday, 21 November 2012 21:18 (eleven years ago) link
phone call from the grave, man. phone call from the grave. would actually be really cool if he did go completely insane. like full bughouse insane. and they have to cart him around babbling all the time. but sadly you know he'll just shake off his insanity.
― scott seward, Wednesday, 21 November 2012 21:20 (eleven years ago) link
darryl (good hick brother) is definitely still my favorite
I heard that Cutty from The Wire is joining the cast in a couple of weeks, which is exciting because I <3 <3 him

the phone call was good. it was very comic-booky. was that in the comic?

it certainly was.

irl rick actorman said it was a real phone call, it was really Lori calling from a set she was on in canada?
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 22 November 2012 04:19 (eleven years ago) link
andrea is so annoying. she'd be duped into falling in love with captain hook if he was on the show.
― Heterocyclic ring ring (LocalGarda), Thursday, 22 November 2012 13:15 (eleven years ago) link
I never minded Andrea too much - on a show of badly written characters she didn't really stand out - but these past two episodes she's really become annoying.

^agreed

the suicidal thing and her and dale bugged me. who cares. its the end of the world. either kill yourself or go get some firewood or something. totally do not miss dale by the way...
― scott seward, Thursday, 22 November 2012 13:47 (eleven years ago) link
Yeah, nine months or whatever on the run from zombies, protected only by a taciturn amateur samurai, would probably fuck you up, but don't really know what happened to Andrea during that span. Also, she was annoying beforehand. Too many demons for a second-tier character to carry.

thoughts:
that Governor and Maggie scene seriously creeped me the hell out - maybe because i knew how much worse it was in the books
reaaally hope they don't kill off Glenn, as i always suspect whenever they suddenly give a character a push
also glad Rick's group didn't stand there and deliberate on killing the crazy hillbilly
i really, really hope there's a good payoff to Andrea being so oblivious, but it's unlikely
― Nhex, Monday, 26 November 2012 16:11 (eleven years ago) link
Guv and Maggie stuff really really uncomfortable. Kind of glad they pulled back if it was worse in the books.
― Gukbe, Monday, 26 November 2012 16:12 (eleven years ago) link
oh god yeah Guv/Maggie was so hard to watch. really terrifying. and the way Guvna messed with Glenn at the end by kissing Maggie
really looking forward to next week, shit's really popping off now

love that rick and the gang stormed into a guy's house, murdered him, threw him to the zombies and made their escape out the back
― turds (Hungry4Ass), Monday, 26 November 2012 16:36 (eleven years ago) link
felt like that dude's backstory should be a webisode or little comic or something
― Gukbe, Monday, 26 November 2012 16:41 (eleven years ago) link
loved the way the zombies set upon the dude afterwards, like the way they swarmed the horse in the city in the first season

Just catching up on last week's (skipped the one before that). Don't mind the phone stuff (knew it from the comic). Hate every scene with Andrea and Merle, none of which go anywhere. They're stuck in circumscribed character loops.
― Josh in Chicago, Monday, 26 November 2012 18:22 (eleven years ago) link
Wait a minute, what the fuck was up with that hermit who has been living in a shack a mile from Woodbury for, what, a year? Was the script five minutes too short or something, and one of the writers was all, hey, what if they get trapped in a shack with a hermit for five minutes!
Rest of the staff: "Yeah, that's a great idea! What then?"Writer: "Then? Then ... uh ... the hermit goes nuts and they throw him to the zombie horde!'Rest of staff: "Awesome! What then?"Writer: "Then ... everyone leaves?"Rest of staff: "Awesome!"
Also, what the hell, next week is a midseason finale? Does that mean there's going to be a long break before new episodes resume?

well they didn't want them getting to woodbury too quickly
also mishonne needed to show them her sword skillz
part of me wondered if that dude had been hiding under that comforter for the entire zombiepocalypse

Hermit was just playin' dead, under the covers.
― Josh in Chicago, Monday, 26 November 2012 20:00 (eleven years ago) link
Also I don't know if the Hermit death showed Mishonnes skillz or tough/merciless decision making skillz. Not sure why Rick and Daryl aren't as jumpy around her as they were with crazy ponytail inmate. Only difference is he was a little more outwardly nutty and dangerous before shit went down. I guess there was more of an alpha struggle going on in that situation.
― Evan, Monday, 26 November 2012 20:16 (eleven years ago) link
not that this is shown/illustrated in any way but darryl and rick could probably get a sense right away from mishonne vs ponytail as to how erratic/freaked out they were...since mishonne carries herself pretty confidently in a fight, they didn't have to 'babysit' or pick up any of her slack

Final eight episodes of the season air starting in February. They did this last season as well. They don't want to air new episodes over the Christmas break. This season is also 16 episodes, so I wonder if they're using the the break to allow for more shooting.

come on you guys give glenn some props for zombie fighting tied to a chair!!
― scott seward, Wednesday, 28 November 2012 17:36 (eleven years ago) link
Merle/anyone would have expected him to just die so it's strange that they wouldn't just shoot him in the face after he ended up surviving the zombie.
Cool scene though.
― Evan, Wednesday, 28 November 2012 17:50 (eleven years ago) link
Like the point seemed to be "kill Glenn/revenge for leaving me on the roof" so why wouldn't he kill Glenn after his miraculous victory?
