Isn't that how that song ends?

scott seward (scott seward), Thursday, 22 April 2004 15:35 (twenty years ago) link

Yay Book of Love! Though they were really only great half the time.

Now the question is how many of these bands can tell me where to get a good cheesesteak.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 22 April 2004 15:40 (twenty years ago) link

Jesus, I miss Bahamadia. What's she been doing?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 22 April 2004 15:44 (twenty years ago) link

Diplo / Hollertronix!

superultramega (superultramarinated), Thursday, 22 April 2004 15:52 (twenty years ago) link

I kind of like that one Bahamadia song where she name-checks various factory outlet type shopping places.

Rockist Scientsit, Thursday, 22 April 2004 15:55 (twenty years ago) link

"Diplo / Hollertronix!"

hollertronix: too overhyped / too early to really judge how good it actually is.

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Thursday, 22 April 2004 16:42 (twenty years ago) link

ned, you will never get a straight answer on the cheesesteak thing.

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Thursday, 22 April 2004 16:42 (twenty years ago) link

ween don't answer the cheesesteak the question, but they do tell you where "mannequin" was filmed, which is almost as important.

fact checking cuz (fcc), Thursday, 22 April 2004 16:47 (twenty years ago) link

But Ween can tell you where to get a good pork roll, egg & cheese! I can as well.

scott seward (scott seward), Thursday, 22 April 2004 16:51 (twenty years ago) link

"ween don't answer the cheesesteak the question, but they do tell you where "mannequin" was filmed, which is almost as important."

fact checking cuz... take note:

ween is incorrect. the band states in the lyrics to "freedom of 76" mannequin was filmed at woolworths; it was filmed at the wanamaker building, where lord & taylor is currently located.

however, woolworth was located across the street on chestnut. it closed in '96-97.

Some missing RUIN tracks finally appearing on youtube:

Great Divide, psychedelic speed metal/punk:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2qGOu9xZkQ

From their previous album:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flf-TrOVk0A

etc.

_Rudipherous_, Saturday, 16 September 2017 17:53 (six years ago) link

Did not mean to make this into a nostalgia Saturday. That usually happens when I'm a bit depressed, which I'm not today.

My other favorite from Fiat Lux follows something like the Great Divide formula:

_Rudipherous_, Saturday, 16 September 2017 17:57 (six years ago) link

Altar, good inspirational hardcore:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buylfmEkjUo

And the classically brief Rule Worshipper:

_Rudipherous_, Saturday, 16 September 2017 18:00 (six years ago) link

Apparently this is all a result of their two albums being reissued last year which I missed.

_Rudipherous_, Saturday, 16 September 2017 18:04 (six years ago) link

They plead being but coming persists!

You tell 'em!

_Rudipherous_, Saturday, 16 September 2017 18:13 (six years ago) link

Oops, ruined it:

They plead being but becoming persists

_Rudipherous_, Saturday, 16 September 2017 18:14 (six years ago) link

He-Ho is such a good album. I used to prefer Fiat Lux. I think I like my favorite Fiat Lux songs more, but He-Ho has pretty amazing flow:

https://open.spotify.com/album/78INC6nI6P9fgXYuU4qJMA

_Rudipherous_, Saturday, 16 September 2017 22:03 (six years ago) link

Throw in a few bonus tracks of course and that throws off the flow. Mouse was not on the original album. Don't even know where that came from.

_Rudipherous_, Saturday, 16 September 2017 22:14 (six years ago) link

Although the one-two punch of You and Make Believe at the beginning of Fiat Lux is nothing to dismiss lightly.

_Rudipherous_, Saturday, 16 September 2017 22:19 (six years ago) link

Nice to see these reissued on Southern Lord alongside so much Boris!
