Hi, my name is Alice G-P and I'm new around here. I enjoy white noise, sucking on my fingers, and all things breast- and mommy-related.

She is beautiful, congratulations! Hope mum is recovering well!

Vicky, Monday, 9 February 2009 20:44 (fifteen years ago) link

Mum is indeed recovering well; labour took something like twenty hours but we (well, she) made it through and is now on her way back to herself. What would help, at this point, is her proper breast milk to come in so she doesn't have to nurse every hour.

Sorry Mrs GOOblar, hope the milk comes in soon, but get used to baby being latched on for the majority of the time for the first couple of weeks! It is worth it though, promise!

Vicky, Tuesday, 10 February 2009 08:39 (fifteen years ago) link

Congrats to you Gooblar!

I enjoy white noise, sucking on my fingers, and all things breast- and mommy-related.

She'll need to get over to ILM then...

Gooblar, tell mummy we're crossing our nipples (hahah uh...) that the boob milk will come in gallons soon. BFing can be hard. Good luck! Also, DAMN, you made one cute baby! Alice looks peaceful. :-)

Is that a seat thing Elisabeth is sitting in? And what age were you able to stick them in the bath together? Current no.1 on my panic list of 'how the f am I going to cope with two children' is the logistics of bathtime...

Meg (Meg Busset), Tuesday, 24 February 2009 20:10 (fifteen years ago) link

how close are you now, meg?

quadratrillionaire (sunny successor), Tuesday, 24 February 2009 20:24 (fifteen years ago) link

Eight weeks (or ten, if he's as late as Howie was). Close enough to be terrifyingly real yet long enough for me to despair at having another two months of reflux, sore feet, breathlessness, constant blocked sinuses and all the other joys of late pregnancy...

Meg (Meg Busset), Tuesday, 24 February 2009 21:02 (fifteen years ago) link

ok, TMI but whatevs (waves at elisabeth): she loves to rub her vagina while sitting in this little seat. and no it isn't allergy, unless she loooooooooooooooooooooves being itchy if you know what i mean. but anyway, i bought this for ophelia who freaked the fuck out (same goes with anything which is/was confined). so i neglected it and always went in her in the bath until my belly was too big. with elisabeth i put her in and she loved it. at what age? not sure really, as soon as she was able to sit indie style (more or less). don't worry about two kids in a bath. in the beginning we would always be with two (husband and i) but now i could handle it alone pretty easily. but we usually do this together as it is LOADS of fun! more fun than one kid plonking in the bath!

Nathalie (stevienixed), Tuesday, 24 February 2009 21:18 (fifteen years ago) link

xpost What a great pic, Nath! And yes, K's milk came in, maybe about day five? Latching was surprisingly easy--now our 'problem' is that we're always just a little worried that she's feeding too often (that we use the breast to soothe her too much, that maybe she's become a 'snacker' who doesn't suck enough to satisfy herself for very long, etc.).

But really I think that's pretty much an evening thing, when K's milk is lower...it happens every evening, but we've actually been having pretty good nights lately (fingers crossed): 2 or 3 hours of sleep in between feeds.

f f murray abraham (G00blar), Tuesday, 24 February 2009 21:18 (fifteen years ago) link

gooblar, don't worry (hahahah as if you're not going to) just go with the (milk) flow. i have heard of only one case where the mommy created a big fat michelin baby cause she BF like every other five minutes. heehee.

also, i think my first real experience of the joy of having two kids was when i put them in bath together and they really played together. SO SO SO much fun. nearly shed a tear. (yeah i'm a crybaby stfu)

Nathalie (stevienixed), Tuesday, 24 February 2009 21:21 (fifteen years ago) link

X-post: Ah yes, the evening cluster feeds. Very common but it does pass -- for now, think of it as the baby getting her order in for the next day.

Meg (Meg Busset), Tuesday, 24 February 2009 23:09 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah i think tanking up is good in the eve, helps them sleep better

First Beeps pic is wonderful! She has hair a bit like Tallulah's; is it insanely fluffy and flyaway the morning after she's had it washed and you comb (hairpick, natch) it out? Cos I love that.

Arrival of a new camera in our household doesn't mean the kids are being any more cooperative for the lens, but I'll what I can dredge up from the first few hundred exposures tonight...

Michael Jones, Saturday, 28 February 2009 21:20 (fifteen years ago) link

Owen looks so much older! Can't tell with Ben in that photo but I imagine the same goes for him.

PS: don't mind me lurking creepily here

lil waynes babymama (musically), Saturday, 28 February 2009 23:26 (fifteen years ago) link

michael, im not sure if beeps hair does that because she gets a bath before bed and i have to blowdry it so she wont be sleeping on a wet head of hair. i expect ill find out in summer after kiddy pool afternoons though.
